This is outragous! Spammers have comprimised jqsoftware.com and sent out a ton of spam (I'd like 50% of their scam profits which succeded that were sent from my site but I don't think they'd listen ). My hosting provider has disabled my account too . Bah. I'm going to go generate new passwords for everything I log in to (about 10 total). ------------------ |

Spam is big big business. Which is very very sad. Most likely if they sent out 50,000 emails, they will get no sales or profits. Spam works on getting one in 1,000,000 to buy into 'em. My current project (in between the music) is writing a server based spam blocking program. Best of luck to ya! |

I've been looking at dreamhost.net for a while now and will probably register a new domain and all since they give shell access. I'm interested in seeing how that turns out. Thanks. ------------------ |

I haven't suffered from problems with hosting provider (Please no, Heaven help us!) but I have been battling an increase of spam on my forums too. I hate it! I have to spend precious development time banning and deleting spammers. It's irritating. Many of them actually take the time to log in and go through ropes of creating an account so I have to delete that as well. I hate spammers. Plague of the virtual world. I'd be interested in seeing a program that blocks them too. ------------------ |

I hear ya on that forum spam. today, I had to delete a bunch of bot "users" and their porn-linking posts. it's depressing. no more real posts, just fake ones. ------------------ |

Good news! The spam issue has been resolved. Now I need to delete 17600+ messages .

Spam bots are quite a problem in the forums, I have had to block several free email providers. Because that's the easiest way to prevent the bots from registering. Which is still a problem even they are not allowed to post until I click the confirmation link that is email to the webmaster (me). ------------------ [VoHW] (Help needed) [Blog] - Truedisciple (mp3) |

Yeah, it is pretty easy to make a spam bot or other web bot, but bots are limited. I am almost done with a Php SQl implementation of submission form spam block. I have been trialing it on part of our site and in the past 4 weeks I continue to block about 2,500 submission form spams per week just on one submission form! Does anyone count their spam messages? I think if people tallied their spam some people would be amazed at the totals that some get and some would be amazed at what people think as annoying. I talked with someone at church this week who was frustrated at the 5 messages they get every week! |
