W00t krylar had to close the first spam-ultra-uber thread, so here's part two! In the year-and-a-half it since it was up, I have definently warmed up to the female gender (not saying that I can talk to any of them though. lol) ------------------
|
Mene-Mene Member Posts: 1398 From: Fort Wayne, IN, USA Registered: 10-23-2006 |
I don't despise them, and instead participate with them. I grew up with girls seeing as I only had 1 sibling who was a girl, and had girl friends (not many). But Girlfriend/BoyFriend I am nothing of the sort, and despise that aspect at my age. I have Girl Friends but not girlfriends. ------------------ |
Lazarus Member Posts: 1668 From: USA Registered: 06-06-2006 |
But - we've lost so many of the members who wasted their time posting in the "Girls" thread! Wait, did I just say that? Well, I have four sisters... *waits for the backslapping and "We feel for you, man"'s to die down...* And no female friends. No male friends either.. wait a minute. |

I don't know, I think making a part 2 or continuation of this thread is forcing the popularity of the first one. I understand Krylar's suggestion, it's a good idea, but I wouldn't call this a 2nd part, more like a sequel, the premise of this thread has changed too much, imo. And yes, I am delving into this too much like a movie, haha. I say we let the first one rest in peace and let another similar thread emerge on it's own Unless, this one actually catches on... But anyhow, Realm needs to get an award or something for starting the longest running thread of all time on CCN ------------------ [This message has been edited by LAVA (edited December 04, 2006).] |

I agree. Though every forum will have spam, so the object of this thread is to make sure that when the spam happens it's directed here, rather than hijacking a more serious thread. ------------------ |

....and running it into the World Wide Web. ouch, that joke sucked. Forget I ever said that... Well... they might want to keep this the "Spam thread" or Krylar might ask God for some smiteage on CCN's behalf in which case lighting will strike me, or fire rain down from teh clouds, or I trip over a grasshopper and bust my nose.

What? You don't belive me? Thats messed up. Face definetnly counts, 1100000%! Then again, not everyone loves the same face, every man has his tastes, as weomen do for us.... so its Face and your preference which counts like crazy, body can jsut be a bonus. (Then again... im not fat *or* lazy. in fact i am an avid basketball player, even more so now that school has started and my parents have placed restrictions on computer time. being at least 6'0 (yes i AM fourteen) (haven't checked in like 6 months) basketball is the natural sport for me. and abs is about all i have lol. everything else is just bony bone bones. for now. when i actually have time to do anything other than basketball and homework i'll try and figure out how to put those weights together... darn things are like trying to assemble a nuclear warhead in the backseat of a Probe (the car) going 75 (of course, a probe would NEVER reach 75, but this is hypothetical). see, i can still spam it up, baby. get me talking about abs and I end up mentioning a probe and a nuclear warhead. haha that pic is awesome. btw I am editing this on a laptop during the one-way trip to Moscow I snuck on just 30 minutes ago. Lazarus Member Posts: 1668 From: USA Registered: 06-06-2006 |
You used to have a pic on there that - well let's just say it showed most of your 'bulk'. You looked all of 200 pounds of muscle and bone, Arch. So StringBean, d'you play any sports - besides airsoft with friends. Sports - meh. I do no sports - team sports anyway, except ping-pong. I'm... so... bored... it's... pathetic.... |

haha!! well, I'm gonna bulk up too. I have about the same physique my dad did at my age (he was a little taller tho, my mom is short) and now he's 6'8" and at least 260 pounds. he's very scary, lol. i don't recall you ever looking like that in the other pic, Arch. tho I can believe you wore those shorts, just so you could say you couldn't believe you ever wore them. Ak-47? naw, AK-74! the new version. check out the specs and pics: http://world.guns.ru/assault/as02-e.htm btw RM. it's not 'great' being tall. one everybody notices it all the time and is constantly being 'i hate you cuz im short and ur tall' or they're just like, 'wow' all the time. plus, if you're like me, 2 words: skinny skinny. like i said, abs is all i have. for now. [This message has been edited by buddboy (edited December 10, 2006).] |
ArchAngel Member Posts: 3450 From: SV, CA, USA Registered: 01-29-2002 |
yeah, once you bulk out, tho, budd, you'll like it. big confidence booster, looking down on everyone. haha. hard to be intimidated. this is my advice to you, tho. Don't ever be embarrassed over your height. it shows. if you look down on yourself, people will recognize it and follow suit. I actually experiments on this and it's true. stand straight, and be proud of your height. not everyone has it. reason why I'm saying this is that too many tall girls have terrible posture and it really takes off a ton of points on the attractive scale. being skinny makes you look abnormally tall, but once you fill in... the girls are all over it. ------------------ |

haha at 11 I was like, 4 foot something. I think. you're 11, right? you should hit 6 foot unless you're done/almost done growing, which is not normal for guys. i mean they just *start* to grow at 11. sort of. not even. so you should get taller.
um, BTW, you do know I *want* to bulk up, right? and also being tall makes you look (for me) even more abnormally skinny, if you're even just near the skinny side. my 120 pounds (yes, believe it or not) just keeps getting stttrrreeeecchheed... haha. LOL I know what you're talking about RM and MM. (haha). I've toned it down a little, perhaps now that I can express all that imagination in computers. I've channeled it all into programming and the like and now I've got less of that ability to sit there and think about the battle between Beowulf and Grendel for the whole 90-minute class on career choices (yes I have a ninety-minute class on career choices, every other day). that reminds me, I want to see Beowulf vs. Grendel (the movie). Beowulf is awesome. When my time comes I want to die like him. burning on a giant stick with my twelve thanes riding in a circle around my singing about how great of a guy I was. whether or not I was a great guy. though I am. =P ------------------ |

On topic, Budd. If a girl tried to kiss you, what would you do? |
buddboy Member Posts: 2220 From: New Albany, Indiana, U.S. Registered: 10-08-2004 |
ah didn't realize we were on page two. but yeah that was relevant to comments to myself on last page. now must catch up on this page. how is being dunked in carmel bad? i mean, unless you're allergic. but if I, myself, were allergic to carmel, I would die from eating enough carmel to send myself into an allergy-induced coma and die. cuz you can't live without carmel. and so I would kill myself, with carmel. If a girl kissed me... this depends. if I didn't like the girl, or she was, well, not to be mean, butt-ugly, I would sort of be like, 'what was that all about?' Then I would walk away. i guess. i mean, i dunno. If it was someone I liked, I wouldn't be like all those dorks in the movies (especially old ones) who are like, 'whoopee gosh!!' and run off. I'd just go along with it. sort of act indifferent. hey, why have to be around your age? if they were younger, of course, I'd be like, 'get away. now. now. now. weird!!!!'. If they were older of course, treasure that moment as the high point of your life, unless it happens again. then pick which one you want to be the high point. cuz dude, older women is the best. unless they is old older women. then its like your mom or grandmother. then you can just be kind of creeped out and also just take it to mean they think you're a dashing young man, or they are really really creepy. I hope everyone (especially certain overserious members of this forum, AHEM RM (j/k) ) will understand with a lot of this I am joking. and of course a lot I'm not joking with. take the crazier parts to be jokes. ------------------ |

I'm trying not to help with the spam, but I just got a response from BuddBoy. 2 feet in 2 years, yikes! My sister and parents aren't going to be happy about that. I'm taller than my 17 yr. old girl cousin, my grandma, and almost my Aunt. My dad's 5' 8", my moms like 5' 4/6", and my sister like 5' 2" and they're all done growing. My dad was like tallest in his class but he stopped growing and the others just kept on growing. Although that is a relief that I still have some hope on getting to 6'. Personally, as long as I can keep around 83, I'll be pretty nice. I mean, I've got a awesome right bicep. What's career choices? I am still bewildered that 6th graders have Sex Ed. UGH!!!! Yeah, I like Carmel. Back to the upsetting boys. I pretty much dump friends (1-day friends that is) who consistently talk about climbing up to see naked girls, and talk about "tadpoles". Ugh! As for kissing girls, I would most likely be speachless. If she was younger and not out of affection, but thanks or something, it wouldn't be too bad, or if they were older, and we were related. But, the same age, and out of affection, I'd most likely be speechless. Either way, if we weren't related I would object, especially if she was a slut. I've wanted to be handsome, and goodlooking. I've once been called by a boy "stunning", and been complimented, but nothing really serious. BTW, I like MM, I was just called M^2 by someone. ------------------ |

frankly, our body was rigged to care for physical beauty. that's how we select superior genetics for our offspring. so, in comes the 3 Factors. in conclusion, you want a girl who your attracted to, who you can spend time around and who you can trust to the do right thing. I spent a long time talking about this, but honestly, I was just thinking about Ms. Alba the entire time. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ArchAngel (edited December 18, 2006).] |

TY Lava, others, sometimes its a time for seriousness. I'm using Blitz Basic. I mean like say object 1 is at 100,100 and object 2 is at 200,200. How do I use ACos and ASin? My sister says its CoSecant thats the reverse. I'm confused. How exactly does cos figure X, it only returns -1 - 1. ------------------ |
Lava Member Posts: 1905 From: Registered: 01-26-2005 |
Cos is your X coordinate. If you have ever done graphing, you have the 4 quadrants 1,2,3 and 4. Quadrant 1 X,Y are both postitive, Quad 2 is negative and positive Q3 is negative negative and Q4 is positive and negative. Not sure what you mean "finding the angle of 2 objects", do you mean distance? Find the center of an image? Try dividing the width by 2 and the height by 2. I don't see the inverse Trig functions (CoSecant, Secant and CoTangent) in the command refence table of contents of Blitz. If you really needed them you could always mutiply them by their recipicle. BTW, I don't think you're going to get much seriousness if you post a serious question about Trig in a spam thread. Also you didn't really state what program you were using, if I didn't ask what program you were using I wouldn't have to bothered to help because I didn't know if I could help. I think if you posted a thread about this and stated what program you were using, you would get more help. ------------------

I've never done graphing so I guess I can't understand. I mean about the angle, finding the angle from one object to another. Ex. Object at 200x200 has a view pointed at 0 degrees. I need to figure out the angle between object at 200,200 and object at 100,100, to know how far to rotate the vision. Yeah, I realize how dumb that question was. I saw ACoSine, and ASine in the command ref. Yeah, it was kind of dumb to ask it in a spam thread, but I didn't really want to make a new thread. ------------------ |

buddboy Member Posts: 2220 From: New Albany, Indiana, U.S. Registered: 10-08-2004 |
no she would be mad. the crying comes later after the argument and excuses. see she accuses him. and if he's stupid (and hey, we're assuming he is, cuz he forgot the anniversary, you should always mark that down) then he will make excuses. and the excuses will be stupid, based on the Stupid Excuses Property. It states that: stupid(excuses) > stupid(person). basically the stupidity of the excuses a person makes is greater than that person's stupidity. so therefore she would see through the stupid excuse(s), and therefore argue angrily. then after he tries to lie his way out of it (again, we said he was stupid), she becomes sad because he's a liar and not the man she married [insert years here] ago. there you have it, why it is a male. or just a crying female, duh. not all females wear the making up. ------------------ |

I love what comedian Jeff Allen says. he says "Happy wife, happy life". he said on his wedding day, his dad gave him one piece of marital advice. he said, "before you fight with your new wife, and you will, think about this: do you wanna be right, or do you wanna be happy?" and then he said his dad broke down and sobbed. he said he thought his dad was crazy. he said after 23 years of marriage, he knows what he was talking about. he said, "I'm a happy happy happy man. Lol, I saw that one. Or you see the old guy hunched over behind his wife as they're walking around, saying to himself "You can't make me do things I don't wanna do - I'm a man I'm a man I'm a man..." or something like that. |

I used to play it. I think I got to 16 before I uninstalled. I wanted to make room for WoW on my little harddrive, now I just don't care enough to download again. AA is different from the other mp fps's, and that is to its credit. (Though I think the fast-paced Quake-style games are fun, as well as the battle-style games.) ------------------ |

i got hooked on Eve Online for a while. That is one scary game. There are some "laws" in the game, but it's mostly unrestricted pvp and pvping has consequences if you lose. I was a head of a corporation in that game. I actually employed cuthroats (other players) to "take care of" other competeing organizations. I was watch as people would leave that organization and I would employ them in my organization and they were none the wiser. ------------------ |

didn't really like it. honestly, I'm very tired of the Asian rpg games. I'm half Asian, and frankly, Asian culture doesn't hold this mystical, mysterious quality to me and frankly is just boring. I prefer power and grandeur, which tends to be more western. that and it kinda felt like a generic flash rpg. so, I preferred the first one, but I think the creator kinda got cheap with it. that and a little more work on tweaking the game elements woulda been good. just to easy until you hit the dragon that kills you. anyhow, well, I'm doing a lot of criticizing, I guess we'll see if I'm all talk once I put out my rpg.
I think someone here showed it to me, I forgot who. [This message has been edited by ArchAngel (edited February 10, 2007).] |

lol laz. Arch: I can understand how it doesn't hold that mystic value for you, but I don't see how the west can hold power and grandeur, seeing as thats why I like RPGs is because you can choose you destiny. Its the RPG that holds me, not the magic/swords. I'm not sure how you say Sinjid was an Asian RPG, but the first one was. I personally like those type of games, but haven't found many good ones. Sinjid, good one, http://www.mofunzone.com/online_games/linion_rpg.shtml linon RPG, not so great. I guess I'm a bit like a Linux guy in that I want most of my games either free, and without sign-up, or buy it, and without registration. Would you mind showing me some "western" power, and grandeur RPGs? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Mene-Mene (edited February 10, 2007).] |

your standard rpg, like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars:Propheices and Nightfall, etc, are more western. Lord of the Rings is western. Greek, Norse and Egyptian Mythology are western. Roman Empire. America, even. sure, I understand the power of china, and eastern stories of giant lizards and robots, it's really more of a romantic view of mine. Grandeur is in the eye of the beholder, eh? I'm probably just viewing the west from eastern eyes rather than viewing the east through western eyes. with this being said, Adventure Quest is more asian. haha. oh, and sinjid is about ninjas. I personally hold the backstory very important. I want a very pervasive world that can fascinate me and to have a character I can grow in it and eventually take it over and subject everybody to my rule. well, okay, the last part is for this world. If I don't like the world, chances are, I won't like the game. linion, meh, I liked even less. I've played too many flash games to like them. the only one that impresses me now is Alien Hominid. ------------------ |

Because of sin. Selfishness - revenge - anger - stealing - lying, etc. I've got 8 brothers and sisters, btw. There are familes where the siblings have wonderful relationships. If only there were more... |

I see... Do you dislike you Brothers/Sisters. Be honest. Switching subjects. Does anyone do Martial Arts? ------------------ |
Lazarus Member Posts: 1668 From: USA Registered: 06-06-2006 |
To be honest - sometimes I do... sometimes I can't stand to be around them. My older brother(who isn't living here right now) probably looked at me the same way. But sometimes - sometimes we actually co-exist in peace and harmony for a few short hours and I like being around them at that point. Martial Arts? My Dad thinks they are bad - wicked - evil - violent. |
Mene-Mene Member Posts: 1398 From: Fort Wayne, IN, USA Registered: 10-23-2006 |
hmm... Sometimes I wish I could get into other people's heads, like how a girls view of life is. But then I realize by examining mine, I don't think of it at all. I wish I could hit pause, and value the pros-cons of actions I take. (A day would take forever though) You might want to be careful about what you say about your dad. Though from my impression of him from you, he seems a bit confused. I'd like to ask him why he thinks that Martial Arts are bad, ext. I'm personally in Martial Arts (not offended don't worry), and don't get how he could see them as bad, or evil. They teach self-discipline, physical fitness, confidence, psycological growth, and maturity, relaxation, ext. Its for self-defense, and the school I'm at stresses useing it for self-defense only, and to use other means when possible. Like ex. Ex. 2, what to do No amount of money is worth risking your life, (except in a game) really. ------------------ |
Lazarus Member Posts: 1668 From: USA Registered: 06-06-2006 |
My Dad has some... strange ideas. I also have a hard time not being disrespectful about him, although I hardly ever am around him. (Dad just has this... intimidation aura around him, for some reason. That, and he made me stay in a corner of the basement for several weeks as a punishment, once.) So you're in Martial Arts? I think that's great. Good for you. |

My definition of Spam: Any post unneccessary that doesn't add to the topic. Think of this as a general topic thread for the hyper-active. I guess I sometimes forget about the roots partially due to the fact I'm in a christian martial arts school. Actually my reason for joining was to learn weapons. Nice work RM, don't have a clue what you're talking about. I'm learning Tang Soo Do. I know 4 forms - Gi Cho Hyung Il Bu, Gi Cho Hyung E Bu, Gi Cho Hyung Sam Bu, and Pyung Ahn Cho Dan. I have to wait till Green Belt to learn weapons. I see what you mean Lava, they do have Eastern religious roots, but I happen to have joined a Christian school. Switching subjects, AGAIN. Who here knows about the Sudan situation? I'm thinking of writing a thread/article about it, but just curious who knows about it. ------------------ |

When I first saw this thread's title, I misread it as “I like girls to be…”, and my answer was going to be “modest”. This nation, indeed this society, has gotten so far out of line that when I was attending a particular conservative congregation they allowed a woman to address the women of the congregation with “You have a right to look beautiful!”, and there was no rebuke. Even doctors of theology—who should know better—said nothing in response (this was not given from the pulpit, but during a meeting in the fellowship hall). The Word of God, if taken as a whole and interlinked together, would teach women differently. Telling women, “You have a right to look beautiful!” is tantamount to telling them, “You have a right to drive men to sin!” That is NOT Biblical. It is not Biblical at all. In Exodus and Deuteronomy we are commanded to not commit adultery. In the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) this is broadened to say that even thinking about committing adultery makes us guilty of committing adultery. In Luke 17 we are warned that if temptation strikes someone through us (through our actions, or dress, or carriage, etc.), we will be subject to the Judgment of God (offering no exceptions for lack of intent or lack of knowledge), and in Mark 12 we are told that the second most important commandment is that we must love (AGAPE) our neighbor as ourselves. This means that we must sacrifice ourselves (our rights, our interests, even our lives) for the sake of others. Whether we think we “have a right” to something or not, if executing that “right” will (or might) drive others to sin, we are commanded to not execute that right. For the sake of those others we are commanded to throw it aside as though it were so much refuse or trash. And it is not just on the back of women. There are ways—non-physical ways—in which men—whether knowingly or not—act as that avenue of temptation for women, and, while I am still striving to understand the particulars of this, we must watch ourselves so that we do not drive women into sin—whether we are aware of having done so or not. We must sacrifice ourselves, and our “rights” for their sake, so that they do not sin because of us. I would dearly love if women on this board would expound upon how men drive women into sin so that we can learn to not do so. This nation has gotten so far out of line that we are offended when we are told that we must sacrifice ourselves for the sake of others, and do so in ALL ASPECTS of our lives. It is time for that to change. It is time for people to care more about the welfare of others than they do for themselves—and to do so without tax deductions encouraging them. ------------------ "...prayer itself is an art which only the Holy Ghost can teach us. He is the giver of all prayer. Pray for prayer---pray till you can pray; pray to be helped to pray, and give not up praying because you cannot pray, for it is when you think you cannot pray that you are most praying. Sometimes when you have no sort of comfort in your supplications, it is then that your heart---all broken and cast down---is really wrestling and truly prevailing with the Most High." |

Sunday evening after church, the father of a teen-aged girls' basketball stand out asked me to guard his daughter (to play defense against her on the court) because she would be playing in the state tournament, and while in that tournament she would be facing girls about 6 feet tall. I am 6 foot 6 inches, so if she could shoot over me, the girls in that tournament shouldn't be a problem—at least because of their height, anyway. I am also 48 years old, with knees that are quick to protest, and I would have preferred to sit and watch someone else guard her, but I put my “right” to painless knees aside for her sake. Of course I don't know if I made her better or worse, because I'm not that good. ------------------ "...prayer itself is an art which only the Holy Ghost can teach us. He is the giver of all prayer. quote: Well, I think there's a difference between lust and beauty. When they said "you have the right to look beautiful", did they mean in an un-sinful way? Because a man can look at a woman and think "she's pretty" and it's not sin (not to my knowledge anyway), now if they said "women, you have the right to take your clothes off" then that would be totally unBiblical, and then I would think the "drive men to sin" part would come in. Well I thought you were wrong there for a bit Bill, but after looking it up I was a bit surprised. Now I don't understand the difference between agape and philia. There is one thing that I disagree with though.. I guess I'm different from most guys, but looks don't drive me to sin. There is a difference between looking beautiful, and giving a lustful appearance. Well thats about it, have a nice day, and watch out for falling cows. ------------------ |

it also depends much upon how you were grown up. forgive me for ever bringing this into a christian forum but... if you grew up in a nudist colony (Do they serious have those?) seeing a girl naked wouldn't necessarily turn you on. You would be used to it. Now do we see weomen walking around naked in the U.S.? No, at least not often, and then that would be public indecency. It depends upon your culture and upbrinigns taht define what can be considered lustful attire. (if lustful even has attire) theres my 2 cents, and I can't afford ot give anymore, I'm going broke ------------------
|
Lazarus Member Posts: 1668 From: USA Registered: 06-06-2006 |
No no no, RM. Just because you're "used" to it or your culture is that way, I'm betting most anyone would still get "turned on", as you put it. (And nudist colonies should be outlawed) |
ArchAngel Member Posts: 3450 From: SV, CA, USA Registered: 01-29-2002 |
no, I agree with RM. He made a very good point. Back in the day, showing an ankle was "scandalous" but now, nobody thinks twice. What you are used to is a basis on how you judge the world. Nudity isn't really such a lust issue in the nudist colonies. Actually, it's quite apparent to everyone around if your lusting after someone and it's frowned upon. ------------------ |
bwoogie Member Posts: 380 From: kansas usa Registered: 03-12-2005 |
Erhm, ignorance is no excuse. A lot of people grow up thinking sex before marriage is fine too... We all know it's a sin, but everyday people never think twice before they do it. Does that make it right? Even schools teach that it's ok "Just use protection". It has to line up with the bible. ------------------ |

quote: The questions usually show up while I'm either at work, or on my way to work, and at work I do not have my password to this site, nor the right to post to it. Add to that the fact that by the time I get home something else has usually grabbed my attention… I would begin by taking an example from MOST (not all) of the female fashions from the Lord of the Rings film Trilogy. The clothing was not revealing, not transparent (or translucent), and not form-fitting—but was absolutely gorgeous—yet even on Liv Tyler, it did not tempt. Clothing does not need to be ugly to be modest. It simply needs to follow three basic tenets: (1) It must not be form-fitting (2) It must not be either transparent or translucent, but must be opaque (3) They must not reveal that which should only be seen by the spouse People will accuse me of being legalistic (usually in order to avoid the true issue at hand), but I am not legalistic. Legalism holds no hope for anyone, but only the Doctrines of Grace. I only exhort those who claim to be Christian to BE Christian. I don't expect non-Christians to obey the LORD, but I DO expect that of those who claim Him. There is an intertwining of scripture that plays upon the prime issue at hand here: “If you love Me you will obey what I command,” and “If anyone loves me they will obey My teachings.” It is also written, “You must agapao your neighbor as yourself,” which means that you must sacrifice yourself for the genuine, righteous good of others and not kowtow to their sinful habits just because it is the easier path. The easier path is not the path of the LORD. We are taught that we must not commit adultery and that if we even think of committing adultery we are guilty of having already committed the act, and we are also taught that if someone else is tempted to sin because of us (whether we intend or know it or not is not even addressed and is therefore irrelevant to the issue) we will face the judgment of God. This is so because if we take due diligence for the sake of others we will not be the cause of their sin—not even unknowingly, and therefore, if we are the cause of someone else's sin it is because we have not taken due diligence for their sake and have therefore failed to agapao our neighbor as ourselves, which is a violation of the second most important commandment in all of scripture. “If you love Me you will obey what I command.” Does it not follow that if you reject ANYTHING that He commands, that you do not in fact love Him? That would be a violation of the most important commandment in all of scripture. For those who truly love the LORD there is no escaping the logic. It isn't easy, but it is scripture. It is what He commands, and if you love Him, you will obey what He commands. Now, if only I could find somewhere to throw away THAT mirror. I have to live with myself, and most days I am not someone that I particularly like, but the LORD is full of Grace, and I cling to Him. Those who genuinely seek after the LORD will not be turned away, but those who genuinely seek after the LORD are not those who cling tenaciously to their chosen sin, but are horrified and disgusted by it and want to throw it off. In the Morning When He rises in the morning In the morning, precious Jesus, LORD, I need You in the morning In the morning, precious Jesus, Clicking the following link will allow you to download and listen to a recording of me singing this piece. http://billsey-christian.net/mp3s/Hymns/InTheMorning.mp3 ------------------ "...prayer itself is an art which only the Holy Ghost can teach us. Call him what you will, argue the points if you want, but if you call yourself a Christian its going to be a hard time countering him. Now its all down to the definition of what is modest and what is not. You can't say "whats wrong with a girl showing her legs" if you honestly have to make an effort not to look. Like I said, I am not personally bothered here. Just chiming in to back up what I see as the most simple and effective logic coming from a conservative voice in society. ------------------ |

You can argue the specifics at the sacrifice of your "reputation" as a Christian. How will you be perceived when you debate a conservative over how much skin women should show? You see what I mean? Maybe its a shallow perspective, but certainly one worth considering. ------------------ |

only thing I have to say, if you're turned on by somebody's shoulder, covering it up isn't gonna help your problem. seriously tallbill, I think you are being a little legalistic. ok, I know you said not to call you legalistic, so instead I'm going to say you are having a legalistic attitude towards this issue. of course I agree with the first two points: form-fitting and transparent clothing are no-nos. but not showing the legs and shoulders? 1) I know women shouldn't show too much leg, they're not being modest. but unless I misunderstand, you want to basically go back to the way Arch mentioned, not even ankle showing? 2) shoulders? like I said, if women going around with their shoulder uncovered is a sexual attraction to you, their shoulder is not the problem. what's wrong with the 'you have a right to be beautiful' statement? they do. ------------------ |

If they don't care enough about men sinning sexually in their minds to put forth genuine effort and sacrifice in order to avoid being the avenue of temptation for that sin, then they do not agapao their male “neighbors” and are in violation of the second most important commandment in all of scripture, which violation puts them in violation of the most important commandment in all of scripture. Those commandments are, “You must agapao the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength,” and “You must agapao your neighbor as yourself.” When you fail these, you fail, “If you love me you will obey what I command,” and therefore testify that you do not love Him. Those who do not care about their sinful effect upon others do not love the LORD, and any claim that they do is a false claim. A false claim regarding the LORD is blasphemy. Those who make a public claim connecting themselves with belief in Jesus as the LORD without obeying His commands are making a false claim regarding the LORD and are therefore committing blasphemy. The wearing of a crucifix—whether intended as such or not—is such a claim. Therefore those who wear a crucifix while wearing tempting clothing are committing blasphemy—whether they know it or not. “Her paths are crooked, but she knows it not.” “She gives no thought to the way of life.” In point of fact, the only thing she is thinking about is to attract the attentions of men to her body, otherwise she would not be adorning her body instead of concealing her body and adorning her soul. She gives no thought to the consequences of her actions and choices and therefore blasphemes the LORD through her ignorance. So much for this beign a spam thread. You know whats funny though? Though we may disagree on a few points such as the clothing of men and women (why are we doing this again?) we still all belive in the one and the same Jesus Christ, and as long as we belive that he rose from the dead and is the one adn only son of the one and only God, were christians and were in (heaven) So, our differences among this subject matter relativly little, doncha know. Sides, I thought I read in the bible that it isn't good to bicker among one another (Were not doing that here, at least not YET and I hope it will stay that way) Just putting it out there that its not uber neccesary for buddboy to think that weomen dont or do or whatever have a "right to be beautiful" God knows the true answer, and we don't. SO we sit tight, think over what God would want us to do, and then do it. But cross-reference everything you do in the bible, and pray about it. I've heard of a pastor's daughter who went to a soldiers funeral holding A sign that said somthing like "Thank God he is Dead" just because eh was a soldier. A lot of vets methinks whould have pounded the #($@!&%)#!* out of her. Well, that post STARTED good, but i think I lost my wisdom towards teh end (I wandered a little bit in my thinking) Another 2cents by RealmMaster (Copyright, 2078 All rights reserved and all that mumbo jumbo) ------------------

I don't see anything wrong with being women being beautiful. The bible frequently compliments women on their beauty and considers having beautiful daughters a blessing. frankly, TallBill, those are YOUR guidelines. I don't remember stumbling across them in the bible, nor do I think they are applicable to today. a girl t-shirt isn't really a temptation problem, even though it is somewhat form-fitting. and RM, your thinking of the Westboro Baptist Church (not really baptist, tho). They are complete nuts. they have the sites GodHatesF*gs.com and GodHatesAmerica.com , etc. Their websites enfuriate me, that they'd stamp God's name on their hate. ------------------ |

incase you guys don't know freedom-of-speech is just an illusion you can say anything as long as you don't trespass on other peoples rights. and sometimes this rights can be things like gay marriage, and when you speak against them you'll be considered as a criminal, some countries are making laws called "hate specch laws" or something like that. ------------------ Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. But yeah, I think it originally it was set in place so people could speak the truth, like about leaders if they were out of line. [This message has been edited by LAVA (edited March 28, 2007).] |

But what is "hate speech"? Like Spade said, nowadays saying homsexuality is wrong is considered "hate speech", saying you don't like illegal immigration is "hate speech", saying all non-Christian-faiths are false is "hate speech". Also racist remarks is considered "hate speech" (and by "racism" I don't mean the mere mentioning of someone's race in a neutral way), which I think is one of the best definitions of it. So again....what is "hate speech"? [This message has been edited by LAVA (edited March 29, 2007).] |

At the risk of sounding like a spammer: Point for D-SIPL! I'm curious, however, as to what freedom of speech has to do with girls? I suppose that if I were to read the progression of the discussion, it would all make sense, but it seems that we've strayed quite a ways from the topic. For what it's worth, I liked what TallBill had to say about modesty. I'm not suggesting that it should be considered canon, but it would make life a lot easier on a lot of guys. Of course, I'm the guy that doesn't agree with the idea of kissing before marriage. I don't try to force it on everyone as if it were canon, but I definitely think it's a good idea, and one that I have, and will continue to, hold myself to. *Sits back and wonders how much flaming will ensue.* ------------------ |

I didn't realize this was a spam thread, my bad. I'm confused by why you said this: I personally think you should not put restrictions on people for it may cause them to fall like Paul said, if what you do causes someone else to stumble, don't do it. It seems to me that unrestricted clothing (ie, immodest dress) tends to cause guys to stumble. I'm definitely open to hearing why it is you think that restrictions (requesting more modest clothing) would cause anyone to stumble in this case. I don't quite understand that, so can I ask you to enlighten me? ------------------ |
Mene-Mene Member Posts: 1398 From: Fort Wayne, IN, USA Registered: 10-23-2006 |
I said that because i once heard this story. A guy went to a church to send his kids there, because when he went to a "Christian" School they wouldn't let him in on the parents meeting for his own kids due to the fact that he had a tatoo. I think a balence needs to be made, balencing it between what you like, and what won't be a stumbling block. I don't know what the answer is, but if you want to wear questionable gear, like say a guys not wearing a shirt, ask God, he'll answer. Now, if the reason you wear it is to inability, I don't blame you at all. Girls have little real swimsuits/dresses these days. ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. |

quote: NOTE: When I'm saying "girls," I just mean females. I'm not talking about teenage girls here (or, more accurately, I'm not focusing on them). I think I see what you're saying now. That seems a bit overkill in legalism. For what it's worth, I really don't think that's the same thing. I don't have a problem with tattoos (unless a guy has nude women or satanic symbols tattooed on his forearms or something), but it seems a bit troublesome to keep a guy out of his own kid's parents meeting. Still, that doesn't seem to be the same thing that I'm talking about. I don't think that requesting that girls wear modest clothing can (realistically) be a stumbling block in itself. There's a point when legalism can become an issue, but to ask as a general rule to dress in a modest way that doesn't tempt guys doesn't seem like a problem. As for the inability to get modest clothes, I think you're right in pointing out a sad reality. It seems like traditional bathing suits are reserved for swim teams now. Still, girls don't have to get the most revealing swim attire, either. By the way, and I don't mean this in a "girls shouldn't wear pants" sort of way, I think girls underrate dresses in our society. Dresses seem to carry the connotation of feminine, and, by extension in our society, weakness/inferiority. It's too bad that girls don't seem to realize how much a dress can reveal/amplify beauty in a non-seductive manner. All the same, I'm more than ok with girls wearing pants (it makes things simple for a guy, since guys don't really think about the limitations brought on by wearing a dress). Short shorts on the other hand, I'm not such a fan of. Nor exceptionally tight clothing in general. The point I've been trying to get to, but haven't been successful in, is that dressing "hot" doesn't necessarily show beauty. Moreover, beauty doesn't require accentuating sexuality for the sake of "hotness." Not that "hot" and "beautiful" have to be exclusive, but beauty (the better of the two, so far as I know) does not require tempting guys or (even remotely) immodest clothing. EDIT: I'm glad to know you think the same (in regards to kissing) as well, CPU. Like I've said, I don't consider it canon, but I do think it a worthwhile goal. (It kind of adds a bit of significance to that whole "you may now kiss the bride" part of a wedding ceremony.) ------------------ [This message has been edited by Xian_Lee (edited March 29, 2007).] |

Nice try, Captain. How about the question of: Is attraction naturally occurring or is it learned? Or maybe: Is strong "chemistry" necessary for a lasting, committed marriage, or is it just a bonus? Then, of course, we could move completely away from the topic (though that would be moving away from what the topic name is) and look at something like: What is it that makes classic gaming classic? Or maybe: "If the chicken crossed the road at a base velocity of two inches a second, a car is racing up the street at a base velocity of 65 miles per hours, and, at approximately the moment of assumed impact, a nuclear warhead hits the projected collision site, why did the chicken cross the road?" (A little note: I need sleep. I thought I'd try to be "out there" enough to get a laugh. No sympathy laughs, please. I should probably save the humor for my webcomics.) ------------------ |

quote: I think attraction consists of 2 things, I think someone can be attracted to someone very superficially (love at first sight thing) where there isn't much to really cause it to happen and it can be very sudden. Then I also think there's the attraction that occurs over time, perhaps over friendship, or if someone looks from the inside out (maybe they like their personality and then they start to like their appearance more and more because of that).
quote: It depends I think, I believe there's personality "chemistry" and attraction "chemistry". I think people can have good personality chemistry, they have to get along, they should have some of the same interests, and they really create a good duo, and there doesn't have to be attraction there. I think that's why siblings alot of times make alot of dynamic things, they can work together very well. Then there's attraction chemistry, which I think is a catalyst to a relationship. I also think it can wear off, but if you have good personality chemistry it will be the backbone of the relationship when the attraction is gone.

I didn't mean for any of my questions to be taken seriously. I was just throwing out random questions. Oh well. Some good things have been said in response.
quote: You make an interesting point. C.S. Lewis hinted on his idea about this in Mere Christianity when talking about the initial feeling of being a Christian seeming to fade with time. His example spoke of needing some form of chemistry and feeling up front so that a deep relationship would be formed. The initial feeling can be called love (in the eros sense of "love at first sight"), but that love leads to a deeper, more permanent agapao love. I definitely agree with you, Lava, I just wanted to compare what you said with something C.S. Lewis said. However, the question I meant to ask is: Can a relationship form and lead to lasting marriage if there isn't strong chemistry? By chemistry I'm more or less referring to what you called personality chemistry. Oh well, I'm not looking to hijack a thread. All the same, those are some good ideas, Lava. I think classic gaming is classic because the developers were less bent on "driving forward" the industry, and more concerned with making games that will keep people pumping quarters into arcade machines. The fundamental game mechanics are what drove classic gaming, and I think that those fundamentals are what make the classics classic. ------------------ |
Lava Member Posts: 1905 From: Registered: 01-26-2005 |
quote: I agree with your comparison. I can totally relate to that in my walk with God, we have to rekindle the fire.
quote: Thank you
quote: You make a very good point about the arcades, I never thought of it like that. I also agree about them trying to driving things forward, so many game dev companies are "techology" companies (id software even admits to be one, I think), which is something Nintendo even said that makes them different from the rest, which I agree with, the Wii is one of the first consoles released that wasn't so concerned with the graphics, in fact it's just a little better than the 128-bit generation. So once gaming looks as real as you can get it, it's going to have to fall back on gameplay, like the whole chemistry thing, ironically. |

Allow me to attempt sarcastic humor, ok? Pleasure is getting a program to run, that, in spite of no apparent flaws, would not run before. Pleasure is feeling good about something, typically yourself. Pleasure isn't a bad thing, unless it comes at someone else's expense, goes against what God has commanded, or is given higher priority than God. I would try to be deeper than that, but this is one time I really don't know how to be. I have a tendency of accidentally turning spam topics into thoughtful discussions. Sorry about that. I'm a spam killer. If you want spam, however, I could always advertise my up and coming webcomic. The latest comic is what I've called "The Programmer's Code" and created it in honor of PyWeek 4. We feel pleasure because God created us in such a way. How's that for a Sunday school answer? Still, I think that God wants us to feel pleasure. However, as a race, we have largely perverted pleasure. As it somewhat pertains to the original topic title, sexual pleasure can still be had through proper means, but it is often perverted (and even encouraged in its perverted form) in our society. Do you realize how deep a question "why" is? Especially in this context. In some ways, I find it possible (if not probable) that God created us with a desire to break out of assumed molds and limitations. As such, we find pleasure in things like skydiving. I don't know that Skydiving is necessarily the only way that God would want us to look to reach past human limitations, but I don't see why we would have such urges if He didn't give them to us in this case. The primary issue with pleasure, as I said before, is that it can't come at a higher priority than God. Oh, I agree with you; my comics are rather negative. That's my humor style (pointing out the fallacies some ideas present), I suppose. I don't find my humor too negative, but I'll keep that in mind as I continue making comics. ------------------ |
ArchAngel Member Posts: 3450 From: SV, CA, USA Registered: 01-29-2002 |
biologically, pleasure manifests itself as a form of reward for "constructive" behavior. Their is a pleasure in eating when your hungry. Your body needs food and "rewards" your mind when you eat. Sex is very pleasurable being that it is necessary for a species to reproduce to stay alive. Laughter is a form of tension release. It's primal way of saying you mean no harm in potentially tense situations. Xian, your negative humor is a way of creating that situation and all of us who aren't wound too tight will find it humorous as a method of showing we aren't offended. Dogs sniff eachother's butt. we laugh. Now this system of rewards, as with many neural functions, is very flexible and can be bent and used for other things. I'm not saying it's wrong. Flexibility and adapatibility are a few of the miracles of life. ------------------ |

Right now I am taking a High School Physics class. Personally I don't like it, as much as I am a techie, I like having a teacher there to ask a question rather than having to talk into a microphone. Also there are some technical difficulties, but that's mainly because of the way my charter school handles things. |

I took an online course for critical thinking. I won. (I actually did hold top grade) and then I realized there were online lecture notes. oh well. computer scientists just thinking logically. in short. it was easy, and definitely convenient (no need to spend 3 hours a week in class), but the learning experience seems somewhat lessened. ------------------ |

Sure you can, I slept through this one class I had at least twice a week. It was only a class of 10 people too, and a couple times I was in the front row. Needless to say I got an A in that class |

Cohort X Member Posts: 126 From: The Great Pacific Northwest Registered: 09-16-2006 |
They don't give A pluses in ASE certified classes. that way if you ever get an a- it will forever be impossible to get a 4.0 GPA |
Mene-Mene Member Posts: 1398 From: Fort Wayne, IN, USA Registered: 10-23-2006 |
I was just kidding! But you still can't mute the teacher, I find it difficult to sleep in bed let alone in a chair with a teacher breathing down me neck. As for the A+/A- thing, I think its all an attempt of the school to make their students look good so that they don't lose their jobs. ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. |

I just wanted to share this verse from Proverbs with you. Proverbs 13:12 (NASB) - For the last hour I've been trying to figure out what this means in a practical application, and I think I've got it. I think this verse is saying that we shouldn't put God-given desires off until tomorrow if they can be fulfilled today. Pushing our desires aside brings depression, but fulfilling those desires brings joy. By saying God-given, I would hope that it would be clear that I'm not talking about illicit sex, murder, and other such things. So, what does all of this mean for me? I'm not sure, honestly. What does it mean for you? ------------------ |

One thing I've noticed about wisdom in Proverbs is that it's extremely practical outside of Christianity as well as within it. I can see your point as a logical extension of the concept, but I also see it simply as a truism, a statement that is true and means exactly what it says. ------------------ |

Topic? Oh. That whole "I like girls" thing? Here's a question (not that I'm necessarily looking for an answer, so much as I'm interested in responses), where would you say the point of no return is in a relationship with a girl? I don't mean that in a sexual/physical sense, but in an emotional sense. At what point do you think that you're no longer just friends with a girl, or, more accurately, that you've fallen for a girl and find it unlikely that you will be able to get back up? I think I figured it to be, for me, when my heart would feel like it would physically jump at the sight of the girl, the sound of her voice, or even the mere mentioning of her name. More questions of this nature, which seem to be tied to the original topic, in the future! ------------------ |

I need to buy Eternal War: Shadows of Light. I have no excuse for my failure to do so already. In all honesty, it's probably the Christian game I've enjoyed most. If memory serves correctly, the technology wasn't top of the line at the time of release, but it was still a very solid, fun, and scary game (I can't tell you how many times I jumped while playing the demo). The engine seemed similar to the Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight engine; maybe that's a part of why I liked it so much. ------------------ |
ArchAngel Member Posts: 3450 From: SV, CA, USA Registered: 01-29-2002 |

Xian_Lee Member Posts: 345 From: Registered: 03-15-2006 |
If I'm not mistaken, the Jedi Knight games were based on the Quake engines. Well, I know that Outcast and Academy were based on the Quake 3 engine, but it seems familiar that Jedi Knight was as well. And if Eternal War was based on a Quake engine, it would make sense that they seemed similar in regards to core engine. A CCN championship? Nice. ------------------ |

Girls - they can be pretty awesome. Still being a bachelor, I can make generalizations like that. On the other hand, they can reach right through one's ribcage, rip out one's heart, cut it up, put it back in place, and leave you to sew up the chest and stop the bleeding. Wow. I love them. I try not to use them too much, though. Paradoxical is a fun word. Autonomic and intrinsic are fun words as well. Sometimes I use "big words" without thinking, but sometimes, I do what I call juggling words which basically mixes a lot of them together. I also like variable words. My favorite word would have to be Theoretically. A phrase I use occasionally is philosophically theoretically probably maybe yes. The biggest word I can pronounce and spell is Antidisestablishmentarism. Basically the mentality of being against destablishment. This is too complicated for firefox, lol. But, with the spoon, there's an object between you and the person you trust. Physical death from the removal of the heart not taken into consideration, I think that bare hands would be much more emotionally damaging. I've thought about this far too much. ------------------ |
Mene-Mene Member Posts: 1398 From: Fort Wayne, IN, USA Registered: 10-23-2006 |
But when you're in a relationship, part of your heart is already theirs. I'd rather them handle it, then an object for an object careth not for my soul, but the companion of mine doeth. Or so my internal poet said. I love being poetic, but not poetry, its ironic really. I love words, but not Language. I think you're right, jestermax. But literal words can metaphorically feel like bare hands. That's what I was saying between the lines. Art of War is a book by one of China's greatest military minds ever. It reads like the book of Proverbs. It's pretty amazing. Definitely worth reading. Republic Commando is a pretty fun game, but I prefer Knights of the Old Republic. ------------------ |

Laz: Fanfic is abbreviation for fan fiction, its where fans write stories about their favorite stories, continutation or a "better" ending. Xian: I definetly agree, I've got the full of KOTOR, and the demo of RC, and KOTOR pwns. Xian_Lee Member Posts: 345 From: Registered: 03-15-2006 |
The forum I have in mind is a secular, adult-only, male-dominated forum, and these things aren't common there. I should think that counts. ------------------ |

Not really... there are probably a million other forums of the same type that are the opposite way.(Probably = Positively, in this case) Why does it matter either way, Xian??? |

Arch made some comments about women that you consider disrespectful. He's the only one you and Moira confronted. I fail to see your logic... it's certainly not stupid - CCN isn't drowning in anti-women disrespect. |

quote: lol, I go on a forum for one of my favorite games, Commander Keen. It's male dominated and the age groups are about the same here, but could you say they have more respect for women on there? Yes and no, yes because we stay on topic 75% of the time and no because if we really did talk about women in any way that's the only way you would know But really, you know when you have more respect for women on CCN? Is when you can even TALK about whether the word "hot" was ok to say about a girl. BTW, Laz: I meant sandbox as in like a kiddie environment, meaning if people think respect for women is as bad as it gets here, then they are sheltered from the real world of forums, in my opinion. I don't quite get Moira's logic. I've only seen arch, and correct me if I'm wrong, Mack or D-SIPL, say chicks, and the like. If I've said words that disrespect your gender, please forgive me, I have certainly not tried to do so. ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. |

Can we please stop talking about this and get back to spamming??? As Laz said, Arch was the only one they confronted anyways and yet now CCN gets to be considered worse then some random secular forum? This whole thing got blown out of proportion so can't we all just get along? And for the record, this isn't a "Christian-Only" web forum; there are various non-Christian members as well. Anyways, on that note: i cooked pizza last night. I didn't have any other toppings lying around so i had to use extra cheese. In the end, the cheese was an inch thick and the pizza had trouble cooking. But it was still a blast ....and D'OH! part of it is still in my fridge at home, i forgot to bring it with me ------------------ |

I've been wrong all along! Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia isn't the longest word I've found! Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is! However Antidisestablishmentarianism is the longest word I can spell. BTW, Firefox thinks that both, Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia and Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis aren't words, but they are! Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis Rules! However Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis was originally intended as a hoax. The longest word in the Oxford dictionary is pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism. Hey did you know the the longest non-technical word is floccinaucinihilipilification, and that the longest place name in a English speaking country is Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu, and that the longest word in an English publication in a serious context is acetylseryltyrosylserylisoleucylthreonylserylprolylserylglutaminyl- ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. Enjoy long words? You should try looking at chemical names sometime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetylseryltyrosylseryliso...serine |
