It seems Graphics Cards are declining in price again. I'm currently running a PCI-E X700 PRO and I will probably upgrade around Christmas or some months after that. I'm having trouble trying to tell what cards are really better than the one I have. Advice? Suggestions? Links? Thank you, ------------------ |

If you are looking at video in/out I use Radeon All-In wonder cards in all of my computers and they work great for dual monitors, and video in. Not the best for gaming, never had a problem with a Radeon card ever. (I like dual monitors for programmin - one with output one with code) |

Depending on your budget, I would go for a DX10 card like the GeForce 8 series. The mid-range cards should be out in a couple of months. |

Wait, DirectX 10 isn't out yet, is it? I would wait to buy a card that "supports DirextX10" until after its officially released. At this point we can only speculate about the features and such, so you should really hold off. It's just a selling point right now, and until DX10 comes out there is no telling how well its actually supported. ------------------ |

The cards are out and obviously support DX10 all the way down to DX1. Check the benches: While Vista (which DX10 ships with) isn't out yet, retailers are already handing out upgrade coupons to people purchasing new systems and suppliers across North America have the SKUs already up. I was playing with Vista Ultimate a couple of days ago actually. Games are already being built on DX10 or will support it with a patch down the road. |

Oh, and my budget's in the $150 USD range. Going for a card for gaming. I'll have to see on the mid-range G8XXX's. I thought DX 10 only worked on Vista? ------------------ [This message has been edited by SumGI (edited December 02, 2006).] [This message has been edited by SumGI (edited December 02, 2006).] |

I'm pretty sure they'll release a DX10 install for XP, although I'm not 100% sure on that. |

anyone know how the all-in-wonders compare to their radeon counterparts? all-in-wonder 9250 vs. radeon 9250 etc...? i'm selling off a couple of p4's i have on ebay and i'm thinking about gettinga video card for my wife's computer, which is an athlon xp 3000+/1gb ram/ and on-board video...so almost any video card will be an upgrade. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |

They'll perform the same, the All-In-Wonder version just has all the extra jazz attached to it. |
