Welcome to the tournament! Story: It was an hour before noon, when the tournament was to begin. King Edmund had set the tournament up in the Valley of Burena, where he had fought his first battle. Here was Aslan, Lucy, Sir Jeepicheep… He shook his head thinking of Sir Jeepicheep. That mouse showed too much enthusiasm for the tournament, and had been at the grounds for an hour now. Fully dressed with everything a mouse could hold, he was excited for the tournament. He looked over to see the towering Giant Grimbor, and worried that the Giant would forget that they weren’t really fighting, but were in a tournament. Raul had been testing his bow for a while. He looked at Haeuthaere and shook his head at the centaur’s name, it was almost disgraceful, and he wondered what his mother was thinking. Hearing a clattering on the stone stairs he looked up to see Professor Winneynoodle clattering down the stairs looking all worried. “Don’t worry Prof. you’re just in time.” King Edmund called. The professor entered the arena, as the others set into their ready stances. “Begin!” Don’t forget the rules, and to take turns! Please update with each post in the form that I have presented. The stats are below, and the turn order further. Thank you, and most of all, don’t forget to have fun! (That’s an order soldier!) First Thread Sign-Up Thread P.S. This is my 100th post! Sir Jeepicheep's patience for the tournament had paid off, he leapt forward onto Giant Grimbor dealing the first blow. His Rapier was glanced off, but that went according to plan. He stabbed twice more with the cry of, "That's for those insults!" He then wheeled around, and shot 2 arrows in Haeuoothaere 's Direction. "That's for the name!" He laughed. His next stike to the Professor glanced off his club. ------------------ |

Professor Whinneynoodle is gazing absentmindedly at the autumn branches and studying their complexity when one of the tournament officers, a bear I think it was, told him that it was his turn. Startled, he almost dropped his bow as he stepped forward to take action. He hurriedly takes aim with his bow and targets his friend Raul Hernande. He fires off two sporting shots, and then returns to his position in line. |

Turn 1: Bow attack to Raul Hernandez, 10 points potential damage, delayed Turn 2: Bow attack to Raul Hernandez, 10 points potential damage, delayed Professor Whinneynoodle Weapons: Club: Refreshing Well Water: Edit: Okay, corrected my mistake. Thanks! It's too bad my block was wasted on such a wimpy attack -- I would have preferred to save it for blocking one of the big club shots I know is coming soon. Well done! Only a few mistakes, The block would be at 1/10, because 10 is the required to block, and the required is what is subtracted from the current when you block. And so you would have regenerated 1. (Quite complicated, I know) (BTW, officer is an improper term, it would be marshall) It is now Raul Hernandez -CPUFreak Turn. ------------------ |

Angry at the falsly accused nibbling, the knight finishes his apple quickly, with -45 HP left. Hoping his someone will heal him in his time of need, he fires off 4 arrows at Haeuoothaere, shouting "The king disrespects those who drink at tournaments!" Too his surprise, Lucy comes to his aid, and heals 30 of his damage. (Hey, you have to admit, that was a bit ganging up on me.) But then sees Aslan glare at Haeuoothaere, reducing his energy, and causing him to drop a few arrows. (405 to be exact) ------------------ |

The Giant Grimbor raised his head, and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "What, what happened?" he bellowed, bending down toward Professor Whinneynoodle. His eyes spotted Sir Jeepicheep near his feet. The mouse squeaked pitifully and tried to crawl away. Grimbor threw his head back, bellowing with laughter. "Hey, you there!" Haeuoothaere Kuttdetout yelled at him. He raised his club as the Centaur rose on its front hooves. WHAM! "Hey, cut that out, Grimbor! No fraternizing with your opponents!" Haeuoothaere Kuttdetout yelled. |

Move 1: Hits the Centaur Hernandez over the head with his club. 50 points potential damage. Giant Grimbor - Lazarus Club: (Btw, why do I only get one attack, but my weapon deals same amount of damage as a Centaur?) [This message has been edited by Lazarus (edited November 24, 2006).] |

Because you're slower! BTW, thank you for not attacking me! Aslan's mercies be upon you. But really, a giant is slower than a Centaur, and your damage is the same because you're strong, and the centaur is skilled. As for a disadvantage, you have DOUBLE the centaur's HP. I'm thinking of next tournament lowering the extra attack of the giant and centaur. (Like 15 for giant, and 10 for Centaur) Anyway, now its the Professor's-HanClinto's turn. Edit: Hey! You only have 295 HP! I struck you 3 times. Once blocked, and the remaining cause 10 damage. You've regenerated 5 HP, but you are still down 5. I've also noticed your Energy hasn't changed. (Should be 65/100) and that your Club block hasn't changed. (should be 1/10) ------------------ [This message has been edited by Mene-Mene (edited November 24, 2006).] |

*Grimbor watches in stunned disbelief, his mouth hanging open, as his teammate Haeuoothaere disembowls himself on a sword and falls dead! He taps Haeuoothaere on the shoulder, then grimaces as Haeuoothaere convulses violently and flying drops of blood cover his clothing. (Note, below is something that doesn't happen in the game) Grimbor then lifts his club and commits hara-kiri with it. (Hopefully noone is too disgusted at this point :P ) Aslan lands on the spiked end of the club sticking out of Grimbor's back, and howls in pain. As Raul Hernandez rushes to Aslan with a healing apple, he trips over Sir Jeepicheep, smashing him to the ground and killing him. The apple flies out of his hand and hits Professor Whinneynoodle's spectacles, knocking them to the ground. "Who dares commit this foul outrage?" he cried in anger, leaping to his feet. Unfortunately, the professor can't see where he is aiming and every - single - arrow punctures Aslan's body. The lion rolled to the ground, dead. Raul Hernandez cried out in horror as Aslan fell. The centaur rose to his hind legs, raising an axe. Raul looks around and then commits harikari with his last healing apple. The last Centarur, Gidieon Swift. He is so stunned by the swift and sudden end of the tournament in disaster that he immediately felo-de-se. And the curtain closes on the sad - sad scene. |

ArchAngel: I meant by attacking only 1 person with both of your moves. I did 2 Attacks of 12, which makes 15 % I think? And you use 100 %. Would you prefer I sent 12 arrows toward you? Listen's to Gandalf like voice, "One must be careful with the power he is given." CPU: What can you do for me? Give me one of your apples, and heal me back up to 10 HP. Then attack a certain someone who attacked me. Right now what you can do is W-A-I-T (Says in Bingo voice) until HanClinto returns. ------------------ |

see... thing is, that rule... is crap. I went into game specifically knowing I am going to violate it. the rule is implemented at your discretion, and, just happens, you are in the game. that's like one team being the ref while playing. and setting a restriction on scoring points, which is determined at the ref's/player's discretion. I'm not taking this personally, just letting you know for any future games you make. ------------------ |

Arch: You're right, its just I don't want "Peacekeeper" people in my game, and I want people to not focus, or show favor. I've realised looking how I didn't correct anything about HanClinto's (I saw 10 damage, but now have realised its 30) I'm sorry if I've hurt your feelings or anything. Would you rejoin if I deleted Lucy's healing, and took the -45, and gave you back your 5 arrows? (Not the 400 you stole) ------------------ |
ArchAngel Member Posts: 3450 From: SV, CA, USA Registered: 01-29-2002 |

Argh, sorry for holding up the game, guys! For some reason I thought Laz hadn't given a move and I was waiting on him. I see now that he went a long time ago. /me chalks it up to Whinneynoodle's absent-mindedness. Professor Whinneynoodle looks down at his notes and rapidly calculates some figures. He quickly concludes that if he is going to have a sporting chance in this tournament, he must ally himself with the Giant Grimbor if they are going to withstand the combined forces of Raul and Sir Jeepicheep. With that, he again draws his bow and fires off two volleys in that team's direction. Turn 1: Bow attack to Raul Hernandez, 30 points potential damage, delayed Previous delayed attack 1: Arrow hits Raul Hernandez for 30 points (previously said to be 10, but it's actually 30) Professor Whinneynoodle Weapons: Club: Refreshing Well Water: [This message has been edited by HanClinto (edited November 28, 2006).] |

Mene-Mene Member Posts: 1398 From: Fort Wayne, IN, USA Registered: 10-23-2006 |
CPU: You lose 110 HP, and blocked part of HanClinto's first 2 attacks. Healing Apple raises you to 50 HP next turn, but right now you're at 40 HP. ((150 - (140 - 30)) + 10) You must either discard one of your apples, (Your damaged, or new apple) or give one to one of the others. (Now there is no teams, seeing as 1 man teams cannot exist, and thats the maximum) That doesn't take a turn. You must also lower your magic apple's regen, your axe's block regen, and your club's block regen to 0/10 (1/10 next turn). Your energy is 90/120 from your club attack. ------------------ |

Professor Whinneynoodle sees the tide of battle shifting. And while he doesn't want to forget his original goal, decides to show to the tournament judges that he is not illegally teaming up with Grimbor. Turn 1: Club attack to Centaur Hernandez (55 points potential damage) Professor Whinneynoodle Weapons: Club: Refreshing Well Water: P.S. CPU, I didn't want to finish you off this turn, but I've only got 100 HP left, and that means that I could take one more hit from you and one more from Grimbor and then I'm finished before I get another turn. That means if I wanted to actually compete, I had to ensure you couldn't heal up enough your next turn. Depending on how the healing apple rules work (this is still fuzzy as to how much one can heal up after he's been hit to negative health), you may be able to have a choice as to who you give the win benefits to -- either me (if you heal up past Laz's attack but succumb to mine), or Laz (if you don't heal up, and rather choose to give your defeat to him). |

Oops sorry everyone, its Raul's turn, not Grimbor's. I guess I'll be the one buying new spectacles. But if it was Grimbor's turn, your health is not right at all, nothing changed. If it was your turn, Your health would be 245, and your energy would be 40, and your Club block regen would be 2/10. ------------------ |

That was a post before they moved. Who do you want to benefit? If Han, then eat the remaining of your apple, stomp on your magic, and be defeated knowing that you've helped an honorable Centaur. If Laz, give him your magic apple and your healing apple, and let him take the win, and be defeated knowing that the Giants are indeed powerful. ------------------ |

Unfortunetly, your giving of your apple isn't legal due to the fact his inventory is full, otherwise you may give as much as you like. Well, HanClinto you get your bonuses again. Its Laz's turn. ------------------ |

The professor is looking down, in a frantic flurry of flustered formulas. He hears a booming voice far above him say "Hey Professor!" Distracted and derailed, he looks upwards just in time to see a large club coming toward him post-haste. His spectacles fell to the ground, and he groped about blearily for them. He heard someone off to his left announce that it was his turn, and that he shouldn't dally. Finally, he found his club leaning up against a tree where he must have absent-mindedly left it before. He took steps towards the largest blurry object in the arena and began swinging wildly -- hoping that it was his last remaining opponent, the giant Grimbor. He didn't have his calculations to back up his course of action, but he was hoping that he remembered to carry the 2 properly and that it would all work out. Turn 1: Club attack to Giant Grimbor (60 points potential damage) Professor Whinneynoodle Weapons: Club: Refreshing Well Water: |

As the Professor lowers his club, his mouth suddenly opens wide in shock. "Great Monroe Document of 1823! So that's what killed the dinosaurs!" Grimbor hands the Professor his glasses. BAM! The Professor fell to the ground, stars whirling about his head. Suddenly he jumped up. Move 1: Club attack to Professor Whinneynoodle. 50 points damage. Laz, I'm afraid there is not much hope for you. You have 75 life, The Prof. only needs to use his Refreshing waters, and lower you down to 15 life. (Isn't your block supposed to be higher, it grows with everyturn) Then you don't have enough Energy to launch another attack to kill him, and he'll easily dispatch you with another water, and another club whammy. ------------------ |

The Professor hears Jeepicheep's comments from the sidelines and is encouraged! It looks like he can win the tournament after all! Taking a swig of refreshing waters, he feels some new strength enter his tired limbs. He valiantly strikes out again and lays a blow on the mighty Grimbor, only to fall to his knees soon afterwards. "What's the matter? Why can't I continue?" the professor wonders... With sudden dismay, he realizes his error. He forgot to factor in his own health points in to the calculations, and realizes that they have dropped to a nonpositive value, thereby giving Grimbor the victory. Turn 1: Use one dose of refreshing waters. Defeated! Professor Whinneynoodle Weapons: Club: Refreshing Well Water: Good game all -- it was fun. Well done Laz -- I'm really amazed you were able to win with only being able to move so slowly. Great job! Thanks for organizing this, Mene^2 -- it was fun! --clint |

I was alive at 0 HP, I thought 0 was still alive. I think Laz should help decide, but please be fair. On an additional note, Han would have won if it weren't for his honor when he waited for them to move passing. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Mene-Mene (edited December 06, 2006).] |

heh, thanks for the vote Mene, but I think Laz did a great job and deserves the victory as much as anyone does. As for the skipping turn thing, I only did that because they had already missed so many of their turns. I think it was a close enough match, and I'm quite happy losing to someone who only has 15 health remaining. Besides, he was kind enough to pick up my spectacles and hand them to me again. As for you being alive at 0/negative HP, we all sort of just let that one slide because you'd gotten whomped so hard in one turn and had such few HP to start with. I'm happy being a little inconsistent here. --clint |

Hanny!!!!! Alright, he can win. I guess that means you die at 0 HP. Alright, I pronounce Giant Grimbor victorious, for his show of kindness at the last. (Finally instead of thinking of crushing my tail) Your reward, a great big bowl of nothing! jk. (Just please don't go shouting about it.) Any suggestions for the next one? I think Mice should have a Higher HP, how high? The next tournament, if you want it. I've introduced a couple new things, and the tournament (if at all) will be held a Beaversdam. Afterwards, supper! Edit: Laz, we were posting at the same time, I was just considering I was aloud to live. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Mene-Mene (edited December 06, 2006).] |

hah, Mene -- that's not a proper victory ceremony and you know it! :-P King Edmund has to give the award and Lucy gives the winner a peck on the cheek or something. C'mon, write it all up! I hear there's a great feast afterwards, and I want to hear all about it (plus I'm hungry after all that fighting).

With the trumpeteers blaring in the background, Grimbor slowly stomped up to King Edmund and knelt. "A mighty one among giants you are, Grimbor." the King said to him, rising from his seat. "Here is your reward." the King said, pulling his sword and laying the flat on Grimbor's shoulder. "You get a reward from me also." Queen Lucy said, running up to the giant. Grimbor bent down lower and she kissed him on the cheek. "Now, to the feasting!" King Edmund cried, raising his arm. Grimbor fell into step next to Professor Whinneynoodle. The Professor froze in his tracks as Grimbor stopped and turned, "What was that?" They laughed and continued on to the feast. |

Here is the story! [BLOCK] “Come hither, Giant Grimbor, descendant of the great Giant Grimorweather.” High King Peter called, looking all noble. “You have done well good giant, and have treated the contestants with care, it does your kind great honor. I, High King Peter, by the gift of Aslan, by conquest, present unto you… The great Lion Claw, a testament to your skill, and good swordmanship.” The medal was all gold, and it was in the shape of a sword, 6 inches long, for a human it was quite cumbersome, there was a ring at the hilt which was open. “Good giant, if you’ll excuse her, (he was referring to the female Centaur who had approached him with a certain device, she will measure your neck in preparation for the chain.” King Peter said somewhat apologetically. She left quickly, and headed toward the dwarven cave which was closest. “And now, for the second place, the Lion Heart.” King Peter said, and presented a inch high, silver, heart which had a slit in it. Within it was a golden inside with this inscription, “Though appearances may be deceiving, it is the heart which matters.” The centaur was back for the Professor’s neck. “Let the feast begin!” Peter called. King Edmund grumbled something about it being “About time”. “Let me go!” A screeching voice came, running from 8 badgers. Seeing the feast the dryads and naiads were preparing he leapt into a chair. It just so happened to be a chair next to a Naiad. He was so shocked when she asked him if he was hungry, “Aslan yes! I’m so hungry, I could eat a giant!” but in his carelessness he looked to his right. There was Giant Grimbor, “I mean, eh, as much honor as a mouse can get, that is the amount of food.” Seeing the glare from Grimbor. But then Professor Whineynoodle laughed, and said, “That was a good match good giant.” He was still laughing heartily, and deeply. “Dear friends, here are your medals.” Peter said placing the medals on Grimbor, (Who saw there was a inscribing on it saying this, “Giant Grimbor, Winner, and Skillful Clubhandler of the Tournament of Beruna”) and the Prof. “And something for you all! Robes of scarlet for you all!” With the excited looks on those who had nothing there was much smile. That would be the end of the story, if something peculiar didn’t happen. You see, the robes were made before the contest, and Sir Jeepicheep was about to leave for Cair. “And here you go, eh, Sir Jeepicheep.” And handed the robe to the utter air, thinking the contestant had it, (not looking up from his scroll) he dropped it. Meanwhile Sir Jeepicheep was stretching for it, and when he let go, well, the robe dropped on him, and he looked like a tent, though not for him, it was quite funny for the others. It was later told that Giant Grimbor was later given a proud peck on the leg by Lucy when he arived at Cair Paravel. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Mene-Mene (edited December 06, 2006).] |

Yay! I liked both versions of the story very much. Good way to end the tournament -- that was lots of fun. I don't think that I'd be up for entering another one right away, but this one was certainly quite enjoyable. |
