Ok, so, there's this site called Pandora. This is a creation of the Music Genome Project, a project to provide a way for people to find new music. This site is a sort of radio. But it doesn't play songs it picks. It plays songs you pick. But, one twist is, you pick an artist/song, and it finds similar artists/songs and plays their music. Their license restricts them from letting you pick what you listen to. But it not only lets you listen to your favorite types of music, but it lets you find and hear new music. It broadens your horizons, so to speak.

Plus, it's free. Totally free. And only one border ad on the side of the screen. All you have to do is register, which is also free. They never send you spam.

To make a long story short, this site rocks.

So go ahead. Check it out....

There is also Yahoo Launchcast, it allows you to rate songs, rate albums, rate artists on your own station, and listen to premade stations. With the basic which is free you get like 500 songs a month, but with the upgrades you can get unlimited songs a month. Not to mention the fact that you can rate Genres, and a bunch of other stuff, it comes right in your Yahoo Messenger. With the upgrades you can choose moods so it will play things you may not want at other times, like I could have a Christmas mood, but I don't neccessarily want Christmas in Spring.

I might check it out later. I've gotten quite a bit of success with live365 and now streamtuner in ubuntu. But then I usually listen to Trance Techno, the spread or differences of artists isn't quite as diverse as say a genre like "pop" or "alternative christian rock"

I have recently been using Pandora, too. I like it and have heard some new stuff I enjoyed. You can't specify a genre, though. Band and song only.

I just wish they had some game and fantasy soundtracks. Can't find Jeremy Soule or Jack Wall.
