Man, it sounds so awesome! I can't wait to tell my parents about it and buy their CD!

"Dad, Dad!"
"What is it?"
"Can I buy a CD from the Demon Hunter heavy metal band?"
"The what?!"
"Look at the lyrics to this song, 'Not Ready To Die'. Aren't they great?"
"What is this trash?"
"Oh, and I printed out a picture of their logo."
"What the heck is that?"
"It's a demon skull with a bullet hole through it! Cool, huh?"
"NO!!!!" *ripping noises are heard.*
"But, but- they ROCK!!!"
"Oh they do, do they? Well you can just go rock in your room, you're grounded!"
"But..."

Lol, that scene is exactly realistic, except my Dad would probably go even more ballistic in real life.

lol, so you think they're good, you just know you'd never be able to get their cd?

or was that sarcastic, as in, 'why even tell me, you tard?'

lol.

im getting their cd for my birthday, i think.

@Lava hey, you should try listening to some of it. this is some of the, eh... more tasteful heavy metal. they still rock out and stuff tho. they're just not like, crazy. heh.

Neither one, actually. I don't know whether they are good(but I've heard heavy metal is hard on your ears ), and I wasn't being sarcastic, just making a joke out of what my Dad would undoubtedly do.

For your birthday? Hmm.

yeah. i asked my parents. my mom just asked if they were christian and said, 'okay.'

you should listen to them. use headphones or whatever, or just keep it turned down. whatever.

hard on your ears? nah. not unless you have it blasting, which i like to do, only my family would get all mad. when i get their cd ill be in the basement by that time (that's where my room will be when we move into our new house) and so ill just use the cd player or the pc that will be in my room and blast it but they wont be able to hear it =D !! i like rock.

Well I try to stay away from rock music(the kind from bands, not in games or elsewhere).

Every time I turn on the TV and see the two channels of "Christian Rock Music" which has these guys in strange clothing cavorting around onstage singing these really loud songs with everyone swaying around and acting even weirder... freaks me out.

What kind of music is that in EW?

Yeah, I have some of their songs on a CD I bought a few years ago. Their pretty good, though I prefer good ol’ cowpunk (country-western punk) when listening to hard stuff. My favorite Christian metal band of all time has gotta be Vengeance Rising, but I like other bands like Die Happy as well as Mortification. Also 7th Angel was a great band out of England, but I don’t think they have played in some years now. Oh, and how could I leave out Creed, though they are not very heavy... more like post-grunge.

Actually not to be a pick but they have 3 cds currently and are re-releasing a 'special edition' of the 3rd CD. I have them all and I agree; they are enjoyable:

Demon Hunter - Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter - Summer of Darkness
Demon Hunter - The Triptych
Demon Hunter - The Triptych (Special Edition) - Not released yet

If you like Demon Hunter you should check out:

Gretchen
http://www.myspace.com/gretchenland

Disciple
http://www.myspace.com/disciplerocks

Red
http://www.myspace.com/dropofred

Skillet
http://www.myspace.com/skilletmusic

Or if you want to be a bit more daring:

Saviour Machine (Goth)
http://www.myspace.com/saviourmachine
(I recommend listening to 'Behold a Pale Horse')

Becoming the Archetype (Death Metal) - My Fav.
http://www.myspace.com/becomingthearchetype
(I recommend listening to 'Epigone')

Mortal Treason (Black/Death Metal)
http://www.myspace.com/mortaltreason
(This band is no more, if you like it I would recommend getting the cd asap)

There's a ton of others as well and yes, they are all Christian artists.

Love that metal.

Uh, TobyMac? Personally I prefer Rap.

IROCC
Peculiar People
Cross Movement
Grits
one or two other main ones.

I also like TobyMac, Jesus Freak/DC Talk (Only that one), and Rebecca St. James.

man, the harder the guitars the better! \m/ \m/
(i'm not mad, i just think that smiley goes best with "devil horns" - eventhough that's not what they are...sheesh...stinkin' uptight society not knowing what they think they know...)

but i prefer "pretty" singing over screaming or growling. I don't really listen to much Christian music because I can't find bands that really fit what I like. Maybe you guys can help me out, here's a list of my favorite secular bands and see if you know any bands similar to them in sound:

Blind Guardian
DragonForce
Hammerfall
Nightwish
Edguy
Iced Earth
Demons & Wizards
Savatage
Opeth

...just to name a few.

Also, this past Sunday I went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra show! It was freakin' awesome!!!!!! I got to go 3 years ago and I sat waaaay far from the stage and up high in the arena but this year i got us tickets waaay up close right next to the stage (not on the floor, but on the 2nd row of the first tier of seating!!!!) I cried. It was AWESOME! \m/ \m/

EDIT: check these christian guys out: http://ajeletsahar.kk5.org/

I enjoy their "The Triptych" album. Good stuff, good music. I don't really like their other albums.

Nice list. I'm a big fan of DragonForce and Opeth. Iced Earth is pretty good, too. I've seen Opeth play twice, and it was awesome both times. You'd probably like Extol, who are also definitely worth catching in concert.

If you like Demon Hunter and Skillet--don't forget Decyfer Down (www.decyferdown.com) they are amazing and their song, Fight Like This, is one of my favorite metal songs!

i like skillet, but i never cared much for demon hunter's lyrics. their too..."violent" sounding for me. they make me think/feel like i thought/felt when i wasn't right with God. but that very well could just be me.
