I can't believe this, the creator of the Reiser file system Hans Reiser has been arrested for apparantly murdering his wife! I was really looking forward to version 4, whats going to happen now? ------------------ |

Sounds like you care more about version 4 than the guy's poor wife... Maybe he just went nuts because of all the pressure from other programmers. Lazarus |

Well, he'll probably be given a computer while on death row and then he can email whatever changes he's made to the outside world. Lol Kenman

Yeh someone made a joke about the prison computers only having WinXP. So he'll have to make changes to the source using Visual Studio... maybe thats punishment enough I will suspect that Namesys will work on ReiserFS fully in his err absence. But Novell have already pulled ReiserFS out of SuSE. I'm not sure if the kernel will have it implemented from now on due to ethical grounds. I suspect a name change will be the only option, especially if it's just the name they dont want to no longer be associated with? ------------------ |

Ugh, I really like reiserfs, that's what I use with Suse 10.1 on my laptop. IMO, its perfect for devs because it handles lots of small files well, it's fast, and I've never had my OS corrupted from a system crash or even had any files put in an unrecoverable state. Sounds like Reiser himself is a creep. ------------------ |

quote: Yeh he seems a bit strange, apparantly their is a history of violence in the relationship. With Python development reiserfs is ideal, as you say it handles all my small script files nicely with no probs. It does start create problems when saving larger files and working with larger files, but this rarely effects me as i dont have X installed on many of my boxes. I use fluxbox on here, but thats my limit. ------------------ |
