Hey,
I'm a programmer, like some other fellas around here. I don't do Flash, but I think that HanClinto has done that. He's not around much right now since he's on a mission trip to Ghana. You said that you like to make movies and music, that's really cool. I've tried my hand at both of those. I've recorded some songs, and made one small "movie" although it was more of a short video. I think I'm mostly into programming video games, at this point. Although I still have equipment for music and video.

I was trying to 'redo' IdolSmash followed by converting it into an 'ant' game - first step being to control an ant moving dirt.

But I've gotten distracted by getting Ubuntu setup to monitor a company network.

p.s. the 80s had some of the best and some of the worst music ever created (Van Halen=top notch).
Though I'm not opposed to good jazz (preferrably smooth and the like), good techno/trance (chicane?), and the various classical composers played by good bands - old classics and some recent movie scores - Phantom of the Opera has to be at or near my top favorite with Pirates, Gladiator, Master and Commander, LoTR, and a few others pretty far up there.

Jonah33, 38th Parallel, Benjamin Gate, Michael Tait, Jeremy Camp, and there's a group that has a similar sound to Jeremy...

also, though I've only seen it once, there is nothing sissy about a Russian ballet performance.

Reformed Christianity tends to refer to people whose theology goes back to the Reformation, especially Calvin.

Now is *not* the time to start a Calvinism vs. Arminianism debate! - but I'm just bringing it up to explain. I don't know what branch of Reformed theology maninblack subscribes to (and he can explain for himself when he gets back), but generally when I say "Reformed", I mean that I am a Calvinist -- that is, I believe in the absolute sovereignty of God, I don't believe that free will plays a part in one's salvation (I "believe in" free will, but you have to be careful about what one means by the phrase - often people who "believe in" free will mean that they believe themselves free to choose to be saved, and that God "chose" people by looking forward through time and seeing who would choose to be saved - that is not what Reformed theology understands "free will" to mean).

Reformed theology generally subscribes to the five points of Calvinism: total depravity (people are bad in the very core of their being), unconditional election (God chose us not on the basis of what we would do), definite atonement (this is a touchy one, but in essence Jesus' blood is effective in paying for the sins of believers, but does not pay for the unbelievers' sin), irresistible grace (one cannot effectively choose to resist God's choosing), and perseverance of the saints (once saved, always saved).

Reformed theology is typically Presbyterian in its understanding of church government, but I'm not sure how broadly that applies.

So that is how Reformed theology is typically different from other schools of thought. Its underpinnings, though, are the principles common to Protestants (the "six solas")- salvation is by faith alone, through scripture alone, by way of Christ alone, because of grace alone; the glory is to God alone.

Hope that helps!

I have yet to actually get Jonah33 but it is on my definate top. Plumb is also one I 'desperately' need to get. I saw Building 429 in concert...the sound system wasn't set up optimally imho but they were pretty good. I listen to their cd from time to time. Casting Crowns = 6 gold stars!

p.s. most definately

i prefer the second jonah33 cd over the first (and the first casting crowns over the second )
also, my gf just bought the newest Plumb cd and apprently it's "amazing" (i'm not that big on the new cd)

i left out switchfoot and starfield (the first cd only though). the new switchfoot cd (nothing is sound) ROCKS. i actually like all the songs on it
oh yeah, Dakona is pretty good too. they're mid 90's i think and i seem to remember them being on secular radio around the high point of matchbox 20.
ohhh and if you like techno/trance, try World Wide Message Tribe; they're a bit dated as well but kind of interesting.
and if for some disgusting reason you like whiney bands like simple plan then go for Hawk Nelson
i could go on for a while but i'll stop...

I love Kutlass!! Skillet too.. And Casting Crowns!! POD is pretty cool, tho it seems a *little* too hardcore. like a kid at school who is really really into rock music, like as in, it's scary, lol, likes to go to their concerts. cuz he said they have the best mosh pits of all. he goes to concerts just to be in the mosh pits. lol.

[edit] oops forgot to tell you about me. i like legos too, saving up for a mindstorms =D. i program, C++, Python, BYOND. im 14, in the 9th grade (well, as of tomorrow im in the 9th grade.). i leik to do Pivot animations, wish i could do stuff with Flash but i'm too poor. lol. i am as of this moment extremely bored, and feel like rambling on and on, but must stop lest the veteran members of this forum begin to fear for their lives (hey guys, life's too short for long faces, gotta laugh it up =D)

Whiney bands can go out the door. Rarely will I listen to one but after that, no more whineyness for the day. Unfortunately, at times the "local" radio stations (K-Love and WayFM - though WayFM is pretty weak signal) seem to only play male whiney...it's like they have to follow one of the 'weakest' trends in pop music....male whiney crooning...blech.

Oh, by the way, my brother does have a 22 but mine has a sight and the gun (the sight would not be very useful if you did not have a gun huh?)

Let's try to figure out the use of a sight without the gun!

Yeah.

Fortunately, Springfield Armory has them on sale for the low, low price of $1467 apiece.

Built with a new receiver, barrel and stock, and the rest U.S.G.I Mil-spec.

Makes you want to go right out and buy one, doesn't it..

Beyond the fact that I don't actually have any money to buy one? Yes. Actually I'd personally prefer to have a WWII vintage one, but it depends on how easy they are to find.

Ah, but that assault rifle wasn't carried onto the beaches of Normandy, or possibly used in one of the battles for Guadalcanal was it?

Lol, no, but I prefer weaponry with a little bit of history behind it if possible. It gives me a bit of a thrill to think that I could be holding a weapon that's actually been carried onto a field of battle at some point in history.

The assault rifle was used in wars passed. World War one and two (i think). and they still use a gun similar to it today. don't you know!

Probably not the kind you saw in the gun magazine though. In WWII one of the only assault rifles(properly termed anyway) that was used was the German StG-44.

Actually the Garand technically is an assault rifle (though semi-automatic) and it's actually the predecessor of the M-14 and the M-16s of today. And also, MiB, I'm talking about guns that have physically been on an actual battlefield, not guns the TYPE of which have been on the battlefield, the types of guns that may have actually at some point fired a bullet that killed an enemy soldier. In my mind there's a pretty big difference, and I prefer the battlefield used weaponry myself.
