Hey everyone, i just had a thought Massively Multiuser Online Community? Most likely a lot easier to code and handle than a mmorpg, plus you dont have to think on gameplay and what not. A 3d forum pretty much. i know thats not much to go on, however i think its something this community could do. ------------------ |

cool idea.... would it have to be 3D? cuz BYOND has multiplayer capability built in, it can be put into a website (it can convert to a cgi-like script) and it is really easy to program in. really. really. easy. lol. this site could do that. ------------------

Much of the problem of creating an MMO-anything is getting enough users. I wonder what the topic of the community would be that could keep thousands of users consistently interested. Slashdot is one example of a MMUOC I would think, just without the 3d front-end. I'm not disagreeing to the point of saying that it couldn't work, I'm just guessing that the larger issue would be marketing and advertisement rather than technical feasability. Interesting food for thought! |

If you mean just changing the forum into a 3d thing with avataars and stuff, I think it's an incredible idea. MMO communities are hugely successful. Of course we'd have to have a Han Clinto room |

The idea of 3d chat is cool, but replacing a forum I don't think so. The deal with a forum is people can return for review and people can take time to formulate their response. And not everyone has to be available at the same time to carry on a conversation. I think those aspects will always be regulated to a text-based forum-esque environment. Just like I don't think text email will ever truly go out of style, despite how advance audio and video might get. |

well, you could do it so it has posts instead of chat. like a forum. it could have a file that it stores posts to and then retrieves them. when they are viewed. BYOND would be great for doing stuff like that. ------------------
