This movie looks great. For those of you who aren't biggie slashdotters like me, this movie is currently showing in NYC. I encourage you to check out the trailer.

Quoting Cory Doctorow: it is “A movie about the way that copyright and related regulations have curtailed personal liberty, free expression and innovation.”

nevermind, i had to update my extras(it d/l the mpeg-4 stuff). the movie looks interesting. although if someone holds the rights to something it is their choice on how it's used. that's why it's up to the people being things such as the open source movement to keep good alternatives out there so the people don't have to put up with the corporate owned copyrights and eulas. about the xbox security mentioned, why would microsoft want to keep people from modding it and making mods for it. that would increase the life span of the game device, and allow other people to make money at the same time. microsoft sucks, but sadly windows is the best os for me. linux is interesting as a network operating system, but it has a long way to go before it matches the compatibility and ease of use of windows as a desktop operating system. normal users just want everything to magically work. i like the idea of open-source software/music/etc., but if someone makes something, they do have the right to say what you can do with it(as far as music and software go). i mean you should be able to mod windows however you see fit, or make music tracks for your own personal use. if i go out and buy a mustang and trick it out you won't see the ford corporation taking me to court will ya?
