www.myspace.com has over 1.5 million users, majority teenagers. There are solicitations, porn, etc being distributed by teens on that site! My friends, w/o any programming knowledge, always say, "C'mon. Register! Everyone else has one"...

I tell them, "If I want a site about me, I'll make one. If I want music to play, I'll make music play in my site. If I want a thing where people can leave me messages, I always have www.myshoutbox.com...

My point, many will disagree, that this might me some form of a cult starting.. I may be exgagerating... but once, I read that you can have a hidden proggy in a webpage. It has a 33 x per second frame rate and flashes hidden message causing a form of hypnosis... Not saying that it is happening on myspace, but do you see the possible potential? What do you think?

Uh Hua on both... If it is a porn resource, shouldn't the government be 'cracking down on it like they are on Google?'

Think about it...

I can see it now...

"myspace.com has shutdown because of government interference! The site, in question, was being used as a child pornography distribution site and used to solicit hundreds of minors starting at age 7!"

It dosn't take an act from God Himself to see that this site is a stalking ground for preditors... I have seen the site. Just in the Friend's Pic's area...

It was on the news one night...

I congratulate the webmaster of that site, but he/she needs to set the restrictions...

Great Jari, thanks a lot! Now i feel cruddy.

Im no Major myspace freak, i have a nice little spot with my games on it, and a cross in the background, and the people on my friends list (15) are all people i know personaly, (and yes, in person)

I dunno why i joined, boredom i guess.

Either way, my myspace is pretty much dull, no picutres of me, just my games and stuff like "IM christian, Go to Young life", and my state. (not city or nothen)

I log on every day, but nothing ever changes (i get no messages or anything.) and i only stay on for like 30 seconds.

im defeding myself, not others.

Myspace does do that crap, but don't condemm everybody, im very responsible myself!

I joined myself to keep in touch with friends.

As long as you dont become obsessed with it, I see nothing wrong. Its basically like a blog.

I do have to protest about the adds. But I havent seen any bad adds for 1/2 a year. Of course thats due to my own little program to block those adds

I don't... I guess I'm not everyone else.

I tell people. If I want people to know me, I have chat and email. If I want to say things about me, it will be through my works... not a "home page". However... I have gotten to see what a good many girl geeks look like outside of the geek world. They still have some geekiness outside the cave too.

*I have 50 friends... see! I have more "friends" than you. You suck. You only have 3 friends. HAHAHAH! LOL!LOL!*

Why would I want to join myspace anyway? I have jqsoftware.com!!!!

As a friend of mine said when I told him about this:

This Is The Dawning Of The Rest Of Our Lives.....On Holiday!!!!!!! says:
i know about the porn part
but if u ignore it
and dont go looking for it
it doesnt matter

nude pic's are forbidden in ye olde myspace rules. Accounts found to have pictures showing nudity are deleted.

I personally hate MySpace. Just because...

I think it really "dumbs down" the whole idea of having a "website". I was talking to somebody once and said, "ok, check out my website and tell me if {something i forgot} looks right." and they say "oh! you have a myspace! I'll add you!"

Disgusting... And i would also like to add that its mostly preppy and emo people on there. You know, scene kids. If one of their favorite bands or whatever said "we hate myspace" i bet you that site would die. :-P (maybe i'm being a little extreme.)

nonetheless, it can be a good advertising tool. If you have released a game or have a band or whatever, MySpace is a good place to find downloaders and such.

(I do have one friend who has a myspace, but I respect it. She has actually made the effort to learn a ton of html and css, and does all kinds of interesting stuff to it. So yeah... Lately my goal has been to convince her to make her own website. MySpace is ... gah.)

I personally really like myspace. I came back in contact with some really old friends of mine; some I wouldn't be able to find otherwise.

it doesn't support nudity; any nude or sexually provacative pictures are clearly disallowed and users can even be banned for placing pornographic materials.

and myspace only gives out as much information and you want them too. if a person gives out personal information to an internet predator, it's their own stupid fault. and if they're young, it's their parent's faults.

just like it's a bad idea to jump in a stranger's van for candy, it's bad idea to tell a stranger where you live.

Myspace is a medium; to blame myspace is to divert responsiblity from those really responsible.

Im not discriminating against the site in general, but in all due respect, shouldn't the site be monitored even further? I know of a few people who have seen 'profiles' with porn in them. There are still porn pics. At my school, myspace was blocked because of this. And at my school, I am planning to take a poll about how many people have an account with myspace and how much time they spend on it per day. I appreciate all your opnions and posts. Don't worry, I am not the kinda person to try to shut it down, but I was just looking for feedback.. Get what I'm saying?

About a month ago, my friend got one. He rarely used a computer until then and he spends a lot of time on it when he's near a computer.

Another friend joined about a week ago... He is totally obsessed with the weather. He once called me at 11 PM to tell me it was raining... That is now he WAS. Now...you guessed it...myspace. He won't stop bugging me to join.

Thanks for the feedback.

I got a space LOOOOOOOONG ago. Actualy I think it was recently after Myspace even came out. I dont know what anyone would do to spend so much time on it, but I have other more important stuff to do. 5 forums that I try to keep up with... WOW! Ive just stopped going to some all of a sudden, just cause I was to busy. Now summers on the way, I may have to do it agian soon..... The only way anyone would find me on Myspace is by looking at my picture, finding out where Gilmanton I.W. is, and searching the whole town for me. Personaly, I would give up before I started.

I've got a myspace account. I'd really (emphatically) have to agree with crazyishone about myspace dumbing down the concept of having a website. I joined myspace very reluctantly and I really wouldn't call it a personal website. No way. Its like a digital watch vs a laptop in comparison. I mean, if I want a webpage I'm going to find a host and make a real web page from scratch.

I really think they could clamp down on that prono issue. The rules definately say it isn't allowed, but from what I've seen they aren't doing enough to stop the problem. It is a serious issue for a sight for minors to be displaying things like that. Not only that but as it was said earlier, it is dangerously attractive for predators, and not the kind that Arnold Schwartzeneiger fought.

I can't respect anyone who calls their myspace profile a webpage.
that's like calling your Honda Civic a sports car... no.

but, to understand the true nature of myspace.. here are some films:

my personal favorite:
"The Myspace Movie" by Vendetta Studios
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAh6WwKILfk&search=the%20myspace%20movie

and...
Daily Show's "Trendspotting: Myspace"

In the UK we call myspace, emospace. It's full of angsty goths and emo's. I don't personally have a profile, but i can see why it's so popular.

Would you call a Honda Civic Type R, a sports car?

lol. I absolutely hate civics. sure, they may be good cars, but I hate them.
everybody has one and everybody thinks it's a race car.
then you have the ricers, with their stickers and their huge spoilers.
sure, the typeR has kick and decent hp and torque... but I'll never recognize it as cool because of the name and association. it's personal.

now... I need to recooperate and look at... the concept Camaro.

Actually God drove a Plymouth, he drove Adam and Eve out in a Fury in the book of Genesis. And His vehicle of choice for His disciples is actually a Honda.

Act 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

So we should all drive Hondas and carpool with our Christian brothers and sister . j/k just wanted to be the first to post those

praise music. gah.

*shudder*

For me, any rave style deal would have to have mostly electronica. Preferably trance or something.

Once went to a "lock in" at a church. Some local christian bands, but mostly the n64 competition held my interest. I slept through the music. All the jumping and whatnot bugs me.

Dark corner, relaxing, and people watching if i'm not half-sleeping. Mostly just thinking about everything that comes to mind. That's where you'll find me.

Dancing. Bah. Forget that.

yes I know the type of music they had. (ant don't worry, i followed the link to make sure I was right, heh)

Can't stand it. christian "rock" and contemporary. You know, modern church/youth group music.

Personal preference. But it's good that you enjoy music so closely tied with your religious beliefs.

The songs we play are mostly techno and metal--some of the best include

The Push Me song (not sure of the name, full length version of the song in Wendy's commercials)

Phantom of The Opera (techno remake of the theme to that play--really good)

Metal remake of You Spin Me Round---really good LOL
