Now, on to learning how to get Firefox 1.5.0.1 working...

In short, it means you can run other OSs(Linux, etc) in a program.
On second thought, I'll let someone else explain it. I'm not good at explaining things.

OSes:
Linux
BSD
OS X
Solaris
Novell's OS (Don't remember the name)

Vmware and other emulators emulate an entire computer fromt the ground up. Even the BIOS! So it's like running another computer (even Hardware) on your running somputer.

Google definitions:

quote:
# Hardware or software built into a computer system which causes the system to appear as if it were another system.
www.hackcanada.com/canadian/phreaking/gtit3.html

# A software application which enables the computer to "emulate" a piece of hardware, fooling the computer into thinking that the hardware, such as a CD-ROM, is attached to it. Emulators are often used in situations where there is no CD-ROM present, as in the case of some laptops, or to test an image of a CD-ROM created by CD burning software such as Nero or Roxio EZ-CD Creator.

# A device built to work exactly like another device, either hardware, software, or a combination of both.

You sure can. But I'm using qemu as it's open source.

Ok, fine kqemu.
Although I've heard from several people that (k)qemu is faster for them. My issue with VMWare is that it kept loosing the module config.... every time I rebooted!

That's nice, they also have browser appliance available for download which is ubuntu but I don't know why it's called that and what's special about it.

It's ubuntu with just firefox 1.07 and Firefox 1.5.0.1 installed.
They say it's special because you can browse the web safely.
It's firefox, on linux, on a virtual machine. How much safer can you get? (Besides adding NoScript and Adblock and Filterset.G Updater with it)

Well, I just uninstalled Ubuntu( Hah, uninstalling an OS with a click of a mouse. ) and installed a Kubuntu virtual machine instead, which I find much better. (Yes, I know I could have just installed KDE within Ubuntu)
