I've only had Firefox for only a couple of weeks so I don't have too many extensions. The ones I have are: ShowIP ------------------ |

Adblock. It's the most important one. I used to see a lot of ads with lustful images, etc. Now I rarely see them at all because any time I saw something I didn't want to see, I "adblocked" it. ------------------ |

Of course, when you open a bunch of tabs... that's 89 megs per tab which could be why FM is using so much ram. ------------------ [This message has been edited by CPUFreak91 (edited March 29, 2006).] [This message has been edited by CPUFreak91 (edited March 29, 2006).] |

Here's my extensions: I especially like Adblock (and the filterset), Chatzilla, ProCon and RiteOfTongue. For my laptop, I also heavily use SwitchProxy because I'm often on different networks that require different proxy configurations. --clint |

Goop2: About installing FireFox -- if you're on a distro like Debian (such as Ubuntu), then use Aptitude to download new software. You can press / to search, type in "firefox", it will hilight it, press + to add it to your install list, press "g" to go, press enter, and it'll download and install it for you automagically. I'm not sure that FF will be much faster than Konquerer -- they always seemed pretty comparable to me. FF certainly has more features than Konquerer, iirc. --clint |

where is apt? and do you have a proxy to speed it up? ------------------ |
|
HanClinto Administrator Posts: 1828 From: Indiana Registered: 10-11-2004 |
Apt may not be on your system -- what distro are you running? If you're running Debian/Ubuntu, you can just type "aptitude" in a terminal window (such as XTerm) to bring up Aptitude. --clint |

Hmm. Are there any extensions or themes any of you would recommend? Goop2: you need Synaptic if you don't have it start konsole,
As for FF, if it's not in K-Menu, go to Konsole and type: firefox

SessionSaver - great if you have tabs open but you have to close firefox for some reason (like call it a day). Adblock FoxClocks - to determine every one's local time web developer devpoi - web dev docs gspace - store files in gmail customize google synchronize bookmarks - great, only if it would work properly (I get invalid xbel format)
