Right on! Free advice! Yes, we should all take it in like delicious yesness. I totally agree with that quote. Taking a look at the actual article, I've had to laugh now and then. Just aweful! Unfortunately a lot of people actually fear that God has random mood swings where he just has to smite someone now and then (I used to be one of them). The content also reminds me of a church I attended once where the all the content people would get out of it was to say catch phrazes back and forth. Some of my relatives would just sit and do that sometimes. It was actually kind of creepy. then one time I asked a question and they went into a "Uh, oh! We are on! We must teach you everything, or else you might go astray and be lost forever!" mode (I know how that one works). Another time someone came by and saw me in my room and thought I looked like I needed some ministering to, so she put on her best happy christian face and greeted me with a warm welcome like an old friend who she hasn't seen in years. When I said I was doing great, she instantly lost all interest in me. Both very demeaning and hurtful experiences, and if I wasn't a Christian and knew better, such things would give me an aweful impression of God and Christianity. Thats what its like on the other side when people try to minister to someone out of a mechanical duty and not out of a genuine love and concern for them. I think one of the greatest thing about meeting a need is meeting a person where they are. People who need food don't need power tools, and people who need help with their leaky roof don't need cheezecake. It isn't a one solution fixes all world, and people are beautifully intricate creations inside a dynamic living world of all kinds of crazy stuff (some of them people ). People can't be given instructions like robots. Otherwise, the bible would just be one verse . ------------------ Tired of loosing your work for all eternity? Jesus Saves! You should too :P (liek every 1 1/2 seconds) This is a message from teh save the data foundation, and from (CTRL + S): Because da data is y00r future. Maybe.
