I just gotta say it: we need to call this "stickmanimation". I enjoy stickmen to a nearly unhealthy degree for an almost-21-year-old, but my animation skills are limited; I have, however, been contemplating writing a quick platform game with an all-stickmen cast, so (if school ever calms down) we'll all get to poke fun at that. |

That was a good one! I've never even looked at Pivot. As for my flash animation only playing once, i created a new layer called actions. In the first frame i put in the following ActionScript: play(); then i went to the last frame, created a blank keyframe and put in the following ActionScript: stop(); Also, I didn't just use the main timeline, there's several different "movie clip"s, "graphic"s, "tween"s and stuff in there. For example, the guys walking buy, i only made 1 guy. I animated his arms and legs moving. Then i put him inside a movie clip and copied him so now there's 4. Then, i put that all in a movie clip and animated it on the main timeline to go from the left to the right. So technically, the guys aren't walkin' anywhere, they're just walking in place but their "parent" movie clip is moving from left to right. did i ------------------ |

Mine took several hours -- partly because I spent time planning it, etc. I think quality animation takes a lot of time, especially where there is tweaking involved. I know that about 30 seconds of final, edited video takes me about 2-3 hours to do (I did a 7 minute video one time that took me around 18 hours to complete). 8 hours does sound a little long, but not insanely unreasonable I don't think. --clint |

I only spent half an hour on the first animation. The second I had a short draft in under 30 minutes but it looked terrible... Wow, HTW! That's a great animation -- I think I really like the quality of your animation the best. I decided to try my hand at Pivot last night, and I wanted to make a non-fighting one (the fighting ones are all really good, Red vs. Blue is one of my favorites), so I started out trying to make a breakdancer, but it turned into a guy doing a handstand and... well... you can see for yourself. Enjoy! Edit: I slowed down the animation, so if you saw it before when it was too fast, refresh it and it should play at a more reasonable speed. Edit: Okay okay, so the edit made it too slow. Here's a *slightly* faster version that's still *slower* than the first one. If you're talking about Pivot (which I assume you are), save your animation, and down under the type, instead of selecting Pivot (.piv), select Gif (.gif), and then choose the settings that you want (a speed of 10-20 hundredths of a second per frame is a decent speed imo). hmmmmm.... lol, ok, here's what i've decided SO FAR... i need some other judges tho, but here's my judging thingy (not official, i haven't decided everything, but what i put is final...) Best Comedy: Realm Master (w00t!) And in Misc.: HanClinto! i can't do action because i'm in that category... that's why i need more judges... but also to counter my votes if they so wish, or reinforce mine... mebbe we could just have a popular vote... i think i'll do something in Flash.... that would be cool, and better.. ------------------ |
