Am I allowed to attack someone (say, the Durcrist or the Redeemer), or do I have to wait at this point? Also, how did G4C get to post and attack twice without DR posting even once? I thought that was the whole disadvantage to having a frigate? --clint |
|
Gamer4Christ Member Posts: 551 From: Kokomo, Indiana, USA Registered: 07-19-2005 |
to my understanding the rules state that the two pilots of a frigate can double post, which means to post back to back, with no posts in between. And the downside of the frigate was if only one pilot was in the ship they could NOT double post. And as far as me attacking without her attacking... the rules also state that a person can post when an opposing team member posts, but cannot attack the same person unless they responded. And so far I attacked RM, Crazyishone responded, and I attacked Iron Hammer, then CpuFreak/RM responded and I attacked CARP... so I am not violating any rules, just taking advantage of being home all day, lol. ------------------ Current Project: |

*Following up the attack by allied ship CARP, Iron Hammer strikes out at the Redeemer* "TAC, prepare the torpedos. Description: Captain Mi-Tuck approaches near-sensor range of the firefight and decellerates to a near standstill. The Elbereth is in far from pristine condition, her hull scarred from innumerable firefights. Though great in number, every patched wound on the mithyrl skin is echoed in the spirit of Mi-Tuck, who cares deeply for his ship and the lives of the dedicated crewmembers that it represents. Mentally suppressing his racial instincts to thoughtlessly join the fracas, he surveys the battle and looks for his opportunity to mediate. The Elbereth can take a lot of damage, but he doesn't want to abuse (or threaten) his position. He would like to maintain his position of independent arbiter as long as possible, and so decides to help even the odds a little bit. He notices the Iron Hammer seems to be singled out and taking a lot of punishment, and his computer extrapolation estimates that they will fall quickly. Rather than retaliate directly against Elaenos, he decides to play the part (albeit temporarily) of a non-combatant and help to regenerate some of the Iron Hammer's shields. Action: Focusing a energy beam on the Iron Hammer's hailing frequency, the The O.C.C. Elbereth transfers 50 units of shield energy to the Iron Hammer, bringing them back up to 80. Realm Master, you can only attack once per turn. Also, the Durcrist was already attacked this turn, so it's off limits until it responds. The Arkenstone, laden with gold and precious gemstones, sets off from its mining outpost and begins the long trip home. All thoughts of a peaceful journey leave the minds of its crew as the radar sounds an alarm. Numerous ships appear to be locked in a deadly firefight. Thankfully, the captain recognizes two of them as old friends. The allies exchange brief formalities before turning back to the mayhem. A Lancer bolt screams outward from the Arkenstone and the dwarves begin pouring tankards of ale as the Redeemer's hull is damaged by 20 points. alright.. I am ignoring RM's attack until he chooses one that he wants to use. he's been told this before, it's his fault for ignoring the rules. and I am also ignoring the CARP's attack toward me, because it is also illegal. but to be fair, the Redeemer can't fire twice at both the CARP and Elbereth until they repost. Istari Bolter fires a 50 point attack at the CARP.

Jeez I'm slow, just figured out the whole "team-mates can line up attacks" concept. I was thinking in terms of frigates. The Arkenstone flips into a barrel roll in order to escape the incoming lancer bolt. The effort is in vain, and a gaping hole is torn into the ship's underbelly. Several dwarves are sucked out into the void of space, never to see home again. With nothing but vengeance on his mind, the captain signals for a fifth Lancer bolt to be fired at the Redeemer. 20 points to the hull. A terrific explosion lights up the view-screen as an Elven Heavy Fighter meets oblivion... The dwarves pause a moment and vow not to meet the same end as the CARP. |

"Captain!", yells Linus torvalds, "I'm leaving! Good luck!" After Torvalds escape pod launches the Captain of the CARP notices a red warning light. Looking up at the pannel he sees an Istari bolt comming at him. Immediately he flips the warning light off, types the command: which starts the runlevel "suicide". He set the engine to over-speed (this has nice warning that says: Can cause massive problems if engaged) jumps into his escape pod and watches as the CARP sets off after the Redeemer.

quote: The Durcrist isn't almost dead, but I will agree, you are pretty close to it. That would be about right though, as your main enemy lost two ships before you lost a single ship. I wonder what would have happened to your team if most of the Freelancers *weren't* attacking you, I think you would have defeated the IAS without losing a single ship. Largely your low health is because you didn't pack your ship with any armor like most other people did. And if the IAS is only attacking you, then what in the world is this post from 2 above your attack where you attacked Luke?
quote: He didn't realize that CARP was already dead, but you still evidently counted it as a legit turn, because your very next move was to attack Luke. Hull: 20 Shield: 150 Fire lancer at elbereth dealing 10 damage. .......................................... Ok, Hanclinto, there was no reason for you to call me a whiner.. first off in the last comp you and Arch did double-team me... so don't even bring that back up. And as far as this is concerned... yes we did attack people from both teams... but why could the other people not do that too? We switched targets, we have pretty much attacked everyone, no? Everyone else has either attacked ArchAngel or me... As far as attacking Luke is concerned, I posted asking him if he attacked, he updated and made it an attack, so I replied... since CARP is not a legal target he is able to update his attack, no? And please do not call me a whiner.. and I cannot backstab someone who is not on my team... I could have attacked you but you had not posted today, so I was going to wait until you became active, and he was the only other person who was active at the time...
Ok... you know what i am done with this... this is a game... just stop and play... >=( i am getting frustrated... first being told I do not have a sense of humor by my sister and dad... and now being told I am a whiner by you... so I am not in the mood.... >=0 ------------------ Current Project: [This message has been edited by gamer4christ (edited February 18, 2006).] |

first of all, Freelancer opened fire on us first, twice, before we responded, and you attempted to heal IAS too. sorry, but anybody clearly reading will realize we didn't ask for a double team. and even if we did attack both teams, this is a freeforall, and should be treated likewise. agreed, that we would beat IAS, but imo, they weren't built as well as us. options were available to both teams, and the only advantage was who thought it out more. they were an offensive build, but didn't post enough, or togehter enough, to hold. they fought one at a time and were picked off. if they fought together, they would have overwhelmed us. a frigate doesn't do more damage than a fighter. we strategized exactly what we wanted to do. and frankly, it would be hard to make a fair game out of 4v4v4, and it is partially my fautl for not putting my foot down about 6v6. but seriously, having practically every person on the board taking shots at the Redeemer while singing about how they are the victim can get to one's nerves. it's like the french revolution... *grumbles* freeennccchh... besides, this isn't a matter of whining, but fair play. and in the last round, I think I did as much "whining" as G4C. he "whined" about me attacking DR, and I "whined" about him having an unfair advantage. and yeah, we both are almost dead "potshot!" ------------------ [This message has been edited by ArchAngel (edited February 18, 2006).] |

ok... first I never said i want to quit... I said i wanted to stop this stupid discussion, and play the game. Second mistakes? I have not made any mistakes in this game? ok, one... but that was controversial in my opinion. Anywho... a person cannot get frustrated at what I have done because I have attacked everybody! As far as having a frigate that is not an advantage... it has been a HUGE disadvantage if anything... I mean seriously... if you had two smaller ships, and 'combined' their stats, you would have way more of everything then the frigate alone, AND the two people can still post one after the other... ALSO my co-pilot has posted all of three times... so it being fully manned has NOTHING to do with it... so there is no excuse... NO EXCUSE that everyone had to gang up on the team of, practically, two people... because ArchAngel is in the same boat I am... he has a co-pilot who has posted all of two times... so stop this dumb discussion, and see what i am saying! Seriously!!! Thank you ArchAngel, I am glad to see someone on my side... well er.... OUR side, lol. ------------------ Current Project: [This message has been edited by gamer4christ (edited February 18, 2006).] |

ArchAngel: You know I do 30 damage a shot, and that G4C has only 20 health left. By not using your nanobots, does that mean you're okay with me finishing him off right now? I purposely didn't reply before you did just now in order to give you the chance to do that. I'll feel bad killing off G4C now that I gave him such a hard time about it all, but it would be tactically foolish for me to let him live. --clint |

Yup -- it's fine. I was counting on being able to split the hair between your and G4C's posts, but I missed it by a smidgen. It was a legit attack. Man, I was so close to taking you both down. Nice work! I really think I had about the best ship on the block here -- noone could do more damage / turn than me. You did the same amount of damage as I did, but you had to work my shields down before you were damaging my hull -- I had the advantage of being able to do 15 damage to you every time, even with your shields at full health.

Arkenstone Shields: 70/100 (20 regeneration per turn) Hull: 71/125 (10% armor Dwarven bonus) Nanobots: 2/2 Weapon: Lancer The Arkenstone spins like a top after being hit by both the Durcrist and the Redeemer. As the captain struggles to pilot the ship back towards the battle, a low-ranking dwarf approaches with bad news. Silence falls over the bridge. The dwarves turn to the captain, who is leaning on the control panel for support. "There is no curse... no punishment... too great for these elves... I want to see elongated ears plastered on my hull! I want Rivendell in flames! Open fire on the Redeemer!" 20 point Lancer shot to Redeemer's hull... |

Arkenstone Shields: 50/100 (20 regeneration per turn) Hull: 71/125 (10% armor Dwarven bonus) Nanobots: 2/2 Weapon: Lancer The Durcrist's attack pummels the Arkenstone's shields, but thankfully does not do more than freak the dwarves out a bit. Jagged blades of mithril, super-heated by the prolonged barrage of plasma bolts, fly in all directions as the enemy frigate sails forward. "I did not know the elves were capable of such bravery," the captain thinks to himself. "All hope is lost, and yet they fight on. They would have made fine dwarven warriors." He realizes that his crew is waiting for a command. Time waits for no dwarf. "Return fire!" A Lancer bolt streaks toward the Durcrist as it ploughs through the field of molten steel and ruined kegs. |

Yeah, ask if you can use his ship COUGH or just take it AHERM. Both our adversaries rarely post (unless that's part of their strategy - wait until the battle's almost over ). We may be able to kill one before the other returns. Quitting on the spot like that, kinda left me hanging. The key to this battle is Realm Master's low health and zero armor... Shields: 90/100 (20 regeneration per turn) Hull: 103/125 (10% armor Dwarven bonus) Nanobots: 1/2 Weapon: Lancer The captain pounds the control panel, firing a Lancer bolt at the Greenwraith for 20 points. Heeeeey certain people didn't post for several days, shouldn't they have hardly any shields? Attrition damage = -20 per day, right? The captain promptly begins break-dancing. |

sry, guys, but CPU's last 2 posts are not valid and Cheesestorm's last post is not valid; you can't double post. you need to wait for the other team to post. rules. ------------------ |

hijacking is fine, if Luke allowed you, but you were double and triple posting. if you want, we can call it quits, and team Elaenos wins on kill counts. ------------------ |

Elaenos put up a terrific fight. I have no problem with losing to a dead team lol.

How come we only have 2 team kills? I thought we killed all 4 of you? The way I count it: Team Elaenos: 4 team kills (CPU + Crazyishone + HanClinto + Extra-Non-Used-Copilot) Team Freelancers: 4 team kills (ArchAngel + BennyTheBear + G4C + DedicatedRider) That's just how I count it though. If it's on a per-ship basis, that's fine too. But because my ship counted for 2 slots on team Freelancer, it seems as though killing it would be worth 2 points (and likewise for killing Elaenos's frigates). Cheers! --clint |

aite, my bad. your right. team Freelancer will take lead. we both have 4 kills, and Freelancers have the advantage of still being alive and all... ------------------ [This message has been edited by ArchAngel (edited February 22, 2006).] |

I think it's still a tie as far as team kills go. We're judging this in two categories, last man standing and total kills. So overall, Freelancers probably have a slight advantage for being involved in both ties, but Elaenos got their kills first (and therefore I think should win between the tie in total kills -- that's just my opinion though). Total kills: Tied between Elaenos and Freelancers (though Elaenos has the advantage for getting all their kills first) Last man standing: Tied between Freelancers and IAS (not sure who has the advantage here -- this looks like a fairly even tie). |
