Look how many sites there are... I found a site for Blitz3D, Blitbasic, COD@, Battlefield 2, UT2004...

Anything or website I could report this to?

Well for Blitzbasic and Blitz3d you could report to the Blitz company themselves.

An unofficial site, or a site that trys to make it self look like the real site, but is a phoney.

in short: Imposter website. I belive, it might also have illigal downloads on it, not sure.

yeah, that title didn't make much sense, at best I figured you meant 'phishing' until I read your explanation...

Pirating is a tough issue, its not a clear cut thing. I don't agree with pirating, but you have to look at all angles, and one big issue is that software is developed in areas like the U.S. and Europe. Work as a sotware developer is high paid so the final product is priced high to cover the development costs. This should not be a problem people get paid well and can afort the software. But then you look at the rest of the world, they can't aford software at those prices, and lets face it there never going to get any furthur if they don't try to keep up with the times. Trained, schooled workers here in Guatemala get paid somewhere around $0.80 an hour, yes thats right thats TRAINED, SCHOOLED labor.

Then look at software and such here in Guatemala, The companys that sell the software to resellers don't sell it for less, the software has to be brought into the country, taxes must be paid and the resellers need to make a profit. So software costs even more here in Guatemala than it would in the U.S. Compare the costs with the amout of disposible income people have. It dousn't match up at all. So you say, fine then just don't buy it, don't use it.

Well thats easy enough for someone in your social economic status to say. But yet again you are not looking at all the angles, you have to step in there shoes and live in them for a while to understand. So this brings us to the topic of copyright and patenting. The whole idea of copyrighting and the system was designed before the digital age. The age where it is easy to copy and share. The trouth I think is that the copyright system and everything needs to be changed. We need to learn a lesson or two from the Indy arts, and the big boys like publishers, record companys and such that are the greedy problimatic beasts of the world need to be put in there place. Because the people that actualy develop stuff in this world, the artists, musitions, and programers don't realy get the benifits of their work. Just my 2 sence. Jeff

wow...

80 cents an hour...

that SUCKS....

well, i have much more compassion for piraters that pirate to help ppl afford products (still not legal, but much, much more compassion, and zilch anger), but i have to bombard the stupid f****** idiots that pirate in america for profit!! People work hard to make those kinds of things, then some rotten sleezy cheap computer geek (we are geeks, yes, but rotten and sleezy, no) wants to earn cheap money so he rips the product off, selling it for a lot less, gaining money on other ppls work.

and then there's the ppl who BUY pirated stuff in america... THOSE ppl are cheap and sleezy too, especially if they can work hard, get their own money, and buy the stuff for the regular price.

umm... i really really hope RM doesn't freak out at me, but we used to use KaZaA a lot to get music and just a couple other things... i kind of felt like i wasn't sure it was right but my dad was doing it... i asked if it was illegal... i don't really remember what he said but i'm not sure that kind of thing had been dealt with at the time, like it wasn't a law not to do P2P... it was a couple years ago... my friend uses Bearshare and i think he said it's legal but i'm not sure... he just gets games and PhotoShop Pro... that's about all he gets... i don't really know...

"thats all he gets"

Haha, thats the most expensive stuff you can get.

As a {wannabe} developer, I say pirating is wrong. As an average consumer, alot of my downloads and programs were aquired by "shady" means.

well i got photoshop from bearshare, but thats just 'cuz I don't have 100 bucks laying around for a graphics program, ya know? And about bearshare... The program itself is not illegal, but a lot of the things you can download are. Btw, what is kazoo? Is it like bearshare or limewire?

haha, its called "KazAa" or some jumble of alternating caps spelling "kazaa".

It came before limewire, I believe, and it too is a p2p filesharing client.

As far as safety goes, music and videos is usually ok. BUT, you should never run an executable or installer you find on a p2p network.

If you need software you can't afford, talk to some friend and see what they have before you start browsing "warez sitez", torrents, and p2p clients.

What's funny though, is that with Blitz(or any language for that matter), you can work on a great commercial game, and then download a pirated version, and then make an EXE and delete the software before 24 hours... not a crime.... :|

it's a crime whether or not you keep it 1 sec or 4 years. if i steal a car from a dealership and return it within 24 hours it's still stolen isn't it? as far as music and everything else goes i don't care if it's illegal or not, the point is whoever owns the rights to it says whether or not you can use it. if you own something, and tell someone they can't have it, and they take it anyway they have stolen your property and become thieves. forget ethics, legalism, etc, think more along the lines of "does this go against the word of God?" , not "would this be really convenient for me right now?" . stealing is stealing, and adultery is adultery, don't justify your sins out. yes i sin, but if i were to justify it out how could i ask God's forgiveness???
