Do you mean Unitarian Universalist? They seem to be a group of people devoted to good teaching taken from all aspects of life (including various religions), with their whole worldview built around a liberal, tolerant, humanitarian ideology.
quote:

Unitarian Universalist Association Principles and Purposes
We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The living tradition which we share draws from many sources:

  • Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;
  • Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love;
  • Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;
  • Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;
  • Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit.
  • Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.

Grateful for the religious pluralism which enriches and ennobles our faith, we are inspired to deepen our understanding and expand our vision. As free congregations we enter into this covenant, promising to one another our mutual trust and support.

The Purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association

The Unitarian Universalist Association shall devote its resources to and exercise its corporate powers for religious, educational and humanitarian purposes. The primary purpose of the Association is to serve the needs of its member congregations, organize new congregations, extend and strengthen Unitarian Universalist institutions and implement its principles.

The Association declares and affirms its special responsibility, and that of its member societies and organizations, to promote the full participation of persons in all of its and their activities and in the full range of human endeavor without regard to race, color, sex, disability, affectional or sexual orientation, age, or national origin and without requiring adherence to any particular interpretation of religion or to any particular religious belief or creed.

Nothing herein shall be deemed to infringe upon the individual freedom of belief which is inherent in the Universalist and Unitarian heritages or to conflict with any statement of purpose, covenant, or bond of union used by any society unless such is used as a creedal test.

Not sure why they have churches for that type of belief structure, but I've seen stranger things than this.

just this week my non christian (who despite being an atheist actually believes in God and is angry at Him, taking the moral upper hand accusing God of not being good) brother "out law" (as in he is not married to my sister in law went to a unitarian church, where they had a thing about the birth of baby jesus, budha and confucious.. When researching this church he had wanted to attend i found out alot about its beliefs and history, and its definately cultic. I read a sermon from the local pastor here, where it talked about the 'garden of eden' myth, it was comparing orthodox christianity with the 'liberal christianity', and it said orthodox christianity said the eating of the fruit is sinful, the fall, original sin, but they "liberal christians" or unitarians believe it was more a fall upward, and the beginning of man's enlightenment , making his own decisions for his faith and religion..

heresy, and evil to the core sadly.

Yeesh, so many ways Satan tires to deceive us, ther are soo many different chrisitian sects, but only one sect of Buddhism, etc. i've already stated this though, so i won't elaborate...

P.S. Klumsy, your current family history is very confuseing, you lost my at "out law" i dont understand, is he your brother, or your brother-in law (unlikely, because you said your sister in-law), or your brother divorced your sister in-law who married your brother "out law" or what??!

wrong. totally and completely. Buddhism is first split into two large sects, then there are of course different styles within those sects.
these holds true with other religions also.

the reason why there are so many different denominations of christianity on the SAT stuff, as you observed, is because Christianity, along with humanism and atheism(recognized as religions) is the dominant relgion and so more attention is paid to it.

He is the partner of my wife's sister and father of my neices.. (who is my sister in law).. he would thus be my brother-in-law , however he is just living with my sister-in-law, not lawfully married, so i can't really say IN-law.. so i call him my brother-out-law instead..

basicly unitarian universalist is predicated upon the idea that man is inherently good and has no need of a savior, or of God's help in any significant way and that man can solve all of his own problems through self enlightenment.

It is heavily tied up with the "progressive" movement that was very influential in the late 19th century and early 20th.. it played a heavy role in shaping much of our modern society and modern conceptions.. especially because the unitarian progressives basicly designed and built the public school system according to their ideas.

Yes, your computer and home were here all along and not built by humans.
Angels bring us vaccines once a year and our farms would be useless were it not for the Leprechaun Harvest Crew.

Humans are so worthless and rotten to the core and stupid fat ugly dumb. God would start over his code but then if we were perfect he'd have nothing funny to watch on weekdays.

Oh yes, and your theory on why there are so many sects of Christianity, and not many of other religions, it doesn't help that the Bible can be interpreted almost any way you want to read it.

anything written or spoken can be interpreted anyway you wish, but there is usually one intention from the source of the words.

This is kinda off topic, but i didn't know where else to post this, and i didn't want to start a new thread. Benny, (message icon!!) where in Kentucky do you live? I live like 10 miles from Louisville in Indiana. I wondered this when I was scrolling through some old threads from last year trying to find something, when I saw a thread that had a picture of you in it. They mentioned the kentucky atlas so I wondered if you were in kentucky (why else would you have a kentucky atlas!!) and i checked your location, and i saw you were, so i just wanted to know how far away from me you are.. just wondering!!
