anyone know a good help site or free e-book for a linux newb? i'm wanting to be able to install and uninstall stuff, that would be great. i'm trying to keep linux installed this time, and as long sa a keep making forward progress i prob'ly will, i'm sick of dishing out money and putting up with anti-piracy stuff...but windows will remain on 1 of my comps for my wife...and for my games .

There's probably something on Amazon... checking up on that right now!!

I (would be) new to Linux if I was starting to use it... But i like my games too much!! But... I guess I don't really play games too much... If this was my pc I would probably switch cuz we have other pcs and I just use this one for net surfing... DUNNO!!

For a good overall source I'd go to the Linux Documentation Project, http://tldp.org/. However the best source depends on which distrobution you're planning on installing. Red Hat's Fedora core has good documentation on their site. Gentoo Linux is the same. Since you're a n00b as you put it, I'd stick with Fedora or Mandrake. Fedora is my preference just because it's a lot more user friendly and cleaner than Mandrake.

i'm using fedora core 3 right now . i would of went with one of the other distros but i have to ease myself into it, or else i'll up switching back to windows in a matter of minutes. i have to re-download open office 2.0 now because i decided to just "open" it last time...stupid move on my part.

i finally got openoffice 2.0 installed on my computer. i just had to move some files around and do some google searching for to find out how to install rpm packages, now i wonder how easy updating the kernal would be
