i am going to make something dedicated to Ghyslain, the World Famous Star Wars Kid

im not sure what yet. maybe a game.... maybes a fan film.

what do you think?

I feel really bad for him. He ended up finishing that school year in a schoolfor psychiatric patients. two bloggers were kind enough to contact him and start a fund raiser to buy him an iPod or iBook.
there was a petition to have ghyslain do a cameo in Ep III, but the 150k signings didnt convince Lucas, even tho he felt sorry for him.

anyay, the guy deserves a little respect.

he was basically "scarred" by the experience. somehow, he ends up a hero of the geek community.(at least the tru geeks. alot of people trying to prove something flamed the crap outta this poor kid all over the internet.) Maybs i'll make a portion of my site in dedication to him.

If I recall correctly, the fundraiser got him a little more than an iPod. He got a 30GB iPod, about $2600 in gift certificates, an Industrial Light & Magic t-shirt (from the company), and a replica Darth Maul light saber signed by Ray Park.

All-in-all, crazy stuff.

I feel pretty bad for him, and I'm not sure what the best thing to do would be.

Wow, thats sad. I didn't know he was in a psycho school... I thought he was just another bored teenager like Gary Brolsma (Numa Numa)... Wow.... I feel really bad for him. But thats really oool how he got all that stuff from fans.

ahh, just google "Star Wars Kid" and most of it will link to one version of the clip or another. Some of the sites have brief explanations that i got most of my info from. A couple had a bit more in-depth, but i cant remember them .

I have never heard of this guy or the term "star wars kid", mind if you fill me in on a brief history?

*edit*
I did a bit of research, and figured this all out, I have watched the video, and it wasn't THAT stupid, I would be a bit embarrassed if it was me, but I wouldn't go to phycoschool because of it, or am I missing something?

oops, did I type in the wrong margin?

go to my site
globalrant.wastexgames.com
for the original video and for a brief history/explanation.

if you have IE, it will look horrible until I create an alternate version, but you will at least be able to access the content.

but yah, get firefox. firefox is basically superior! lol.

Who makes a site that only works in a minority browser?

I don't feel all that sorry for the kid.. Any one of us should be so lucky as to hit a moment of comic genius like that (not to mention getting a load of free stuff out of the deal).

Although I seriously wonder how much of the stuff we hear about it is true. Because the story I heard back in the day was that he actually sued the website which original posted the video (one of the big sites like ebaums or something) and that they settled out of court and basicly what he asked for was like a massive computer system. (I can't remember the name.. it wasn't a usual brand it was something that was supposed to be the "next thing" at the time but I haven't heard of it since).

But seriously, if you can't take people making fun of you, especially on the internet, I have to wonder. I'm pretty well known amongst my friends for embarassing myself and there are a couple of things that I have literally been made fun of, like every day for two years over, by numerous people.
The one big thing it took about two years for it to finaly die off before I wasn't hearing about it on a daily basis anymore.

well, d000hg, i made it for the "minority" browser cuz that is the one I use, and it's not like its a megasite or anything. Also, once IE 7 comes out w/ Windows Vista within the next year i believe, all the IE stuff is gonna change. I believe they are basing it on how Netscape Nav. is set up....no point in making my site compatible with a browser that is basically archaic and dying out. And for the millions of IE users, they can "kiss it" or they can use a different browser. It's basically a personal site, and yeah, i'll make it work in IE, but its not my priority.
