 		hey, I was hoping you guys could recommend some good (free) anit-virus and anti-spyware software. I used to have McAfee, but not anymore. It's a short story not worth telling.
Yes, any help would be appreciated, because I think I may still have a virus on my computer, but I am not sure.

 		the most popular packages, norton and mcafee, are disappointing. Norton sucks, and McAfee revels in mediocrity. Its a shame.

 		i concur, norton DOES SUCK!!! IT SUCKS SO BAD IT WOULD BREAK A PACIFIRE!! (dont ask, off the top of my head) firemaker's right, it IS the worst thing since Realm Master, man, that guy is SOO annoying -- wait, WHAT? lol, j/k.

 		well, I have downloaded lavasoft adaware,
NoAdware, and AVG.
I think these should be fine for now.
Thanks guys, you'll be receiving your service checks in the mail within 3 business days. (psh, that'll be the day. )

 		I use Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D for anti-spyware protection, AVG for anti-virus.

Get spybot for the immunization and teatimer, if nothing else. One more layer to prevent them from installing in the first place.

I had a bad experience with Microsoft's product - it didn't detect anything my other stuff didn't, and gave some false positives .

And don't forget Firefox, which seems to be less prone to getting spyware than IE. In fact, I've often forgotten completely about spyware, because I've got enough protection to prevent them from installing in the first place.

 		yeah, i got some microsoft free anit-spy ware, and im convinced tahts what did it for my comptuer, after i got that program, my comptuer ran as slow as a slug pulling a lead-filled minivan! (exxageration, but it was really really slow)

i do not reccomend it!
