i couldn't find the right smiliey, though this one will suffice :\ im not sure if im happy or sad, but im going to make the most of my late nights! programming all night isn't too bad, not when your homeschooled! i really think i could like being a night owl.. ooh... future date might like that too... brrr... dont think about that... anyway, im here at the computer 10:24 PM, not too late, but past few nights have been late ones, so im figuring on a nother late night, ill fall assleep eventually. I've sent some prayers to God for a good nights rest, and for more Faith, because if you pray but have no faith, God's not too likly to answer (he might though, cause, you know, he's GOD!)
just thought everybody else might like to know you've been chatting wiht an owl. "Who! who!" ------------------ Blessed are those who show mercy. Blessed are those who suffer for doing what is right. |

Oh night owl huh? Man I remember when I was like that and have to say... it's not a really good idea. It's much more healhtier to sleep at nights when you can sleep when it's dark and quiet, sleeping days just isn't the same. ------------------ Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. - Psalms 127:1 |

dude, i've been TRYING to do just that! If i don't "embrace" the fact that i can do stuff late, then i will totaly flip out and worry the whole night, which means i would get NO sleep at ALL! and thats bad! ------------------ Blessed are those who show mercy. kid, you aren't staying up late until you see the sun coming up. when you see dawn approach, then think "oh, bedtime" then you can call yourself a night owl. ------------------ |

In the summer, I prefer the 4 hour-offset schedule. Go to bed around 12, wake up around 11-12. 12 hours of laziness, 12 hours of computer. (or other things.....occasionaly....) Then, when on the rare occasions I wake up around 8, I feel like I've had a really long and productive day. When I'm doing something important, good night fuel for me is coffee and those frappacino things....chinese food leftovers (im eating chow mein right now, acutally.)....not pizza. I prefer pizza hot, but at 2:30 in the morning im NOT taking time to warm up pizza. Ice tea is an all time favfor me tho...and burritos. What are some of you guys' night fuel? ------------------ globalrant.tk [This message has been edited by crazyishone (edited September 25, 2005).] |

This is going to sound stupid, but one of the most common reasons I stay up, or at least have a consious cleep is because I start thinking about what I do while I sleep, and how my mind functions, so it is like trying to tell me by making sure it is still functioning FULLY while I sleep... not fun... Another thing is me thinking too much, I usually can think for hours on end about anything, I bring up past conversations in my mind and hear them over and over and over... so I guess my mind is my fuel to stay up late. ------------------ |

yeah, as i tried to fall asleep another night i tired not to think of anything, and i ended up thinking about my heart beating etc. etc. etc. how the story goes.. ------------------ Blessed are those who show mercy. Blessed are those who suffer for doing what is right. |

I do that quite often. I will try to get to bed, but I'll lay there for a good or or so, just thinking. Then, if I make a conscious effort to close my eyes, I am already thinking, "HUH. Im making a conscious effort to close my eyes." Its like the conscious and subconscsious merge or something.... ------------------ |

first of all, don't try to fall asleep. that alone will keep you up. just relax. lay down and savor the moment. ------------------ |

I always read a book chapter (or some pages) before going to bed. (Every single time, no exceptions.) It wipes out all the things I've been thinking about and all the projects I have to do (many) and replaces them. I think it helps to choose a book with self-contained chapters (each chapter can be read by itself and contains a sub-story) and maybe it also helps to have stereotypical or well-defined, maybe humorous characters, because that way they and the story go into your mind very quickly. For the same reason, I think it may be useful to re-read something you know well, because it will fill your mind quickly and thoroughly. I re-read a set of books by the same author over and over, a few pages every night! About being a night owl--lots of animals are nocturnal, and humans don't have good vision and senses to let them function well at night, but with electricity overcoming that, it's very natural that some will tend to shift to different schedules. I've always found the night a very good time to concentrate. But the schedule of family, school, work, society will make nocturnal living a bit difficult unless your own particular situation/work/etc. makes it possible. "Oh the night...is my world..." |
