ok, i have a gateway motherboard(not sure model) running a pIII 500mhz and the hard drive is a 1-2 gb seagate with windows 98 installed on it. here the problem, the motherboard won't recognize the hard drive, and i have no way of knowing if the motherboards idea is shot, or what. any help would be appreciated, and not knowing the motherboard model, i don't know what bios to get in order to flash/upgrade it. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |

Make sure you've got the jumper (if I'm correct) set to primary master not slave or any of that. Also make sure all cables/power sources are working as well. ------------------ [This message has been edited by CapnStank (edited September 03, 2005).] |

the jumpers on the drives are set, and i suppose it could be the ide cable(i never tried another one), it's just i've never had a bad ide cable before. i suppose it would be worth a startt. i'm pretty sure the cd-rw drive i was using is shot, because it won't even open when it has power coming to it, or turn on...the power supply should be good considering it boots up and the case fans come on hooked up to the same power source as the drives(it has enough wattage to power it all). i think i'll try the cables thing right now, it would be great if it's something so easy. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |
