I'll be another pioneer and try for a new kind contest. As you would have guessed, you just have to be the first one to decrypt the text. (And so I can test my new encrytion method... ) Reason also is if you're bored, want a challenge, or ummm.... Prize to be decided.

Beats me. I can merely encrypt text but not decrypt without knowing the format. Could you decrypt it your self firemaker if you wouldn't know the algorithm? ------------------ Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. - Psalms 127:1 |

is this like a codebreaking entry exam from the NSA or CIA or something? i don't have much time to really mess with this, but i'll make some assumptions and suggestions, and if the author can give some clues may give it ago.. i assume its just plain text, "encrypted" with a simple method (not like a real enryption algorithm.. from looking at it, it seems like all high value ascii values, so possibly just a formula like Character = Character + X? maybe a little more complicated with some Xors or something in it. if it is a simple one, if we looked at the range of ascii values.. and also the most common characters to show (and see if they map to most common characters in english), as well as looking for any repeated patterns, we'd be well on our way to 'cracking' this code. ------------------ |

erm, i don't know about guessing but sure..... Some hints:
And since you probably want this the decrytion of the short one above:

Hrm, I wrote a short program that converts back and forth between the example code, but it doesn't really work for the larger one. Iiiinteresting. --clint ------------------ |

First, I don't have the time to go writing a reveres encryption algorithm, but by working backwards I can tell you what its not encrypted with. By looking at the string, I see youre encrypting using Extended ASCII. The algorithm youre using to do encryption is not "balancing" the encryption. What I mean is that the way the characters are being shifted to produce an encrypted character are favoring Extended ASCII characters. In an encryption algorithm you want a bell shaped curve (remember your statistics?) this will produce a well distributed set of encrypted ASCII characters. The algorithm your using does not do this. The bell shape curve looks skewed. (lop-sided), which of course means that your distribution of encrypted characters favor a set of ASCII in this case extended ASCII. This means that the encrypted string you've provided CAN be decrypted, but it will take more time and work. From what I see from a statistical point, there is no compression, there Looks strong enough to discourage people from sitting down and picking it Nice work though! j. i never said it CAN'T be decrypted. Nothing is. First compression, then encytion with a random key, then again encrypted. Yes, it wil be updated. ------------------ |

would you be able to sove any of these if you just looked at my file? Maybe if you took a whole 2 days and where very experianced. (lol, how about a different encrytion every 30 seconds?) ------------------ |

I'll up the anty.... first, forget about that first one, not secure as I would have liked. Person who gets this one(not compressed), get's my version of Blitz2D( I don't need it anymore, what with Blitz3D ) Yes, I trust it THAT much.
Oh, yeah. The first one was the include of WinBlitz3D( a userlib) Good Luck!

Looks a bit like a simple character replacements encryptions, like A=B and C=g or something. Unfortunatly I don't have time right now to decrypt this, but it looks quite breakable. My guess would be that the # might be the space. [This message has been edited by vincent (edited February 06, 2006).] |
