In our tech-flooded, it was really refreshing to read this Wired article about the Amish. I know it's my second Slashdot cross-post of the week, but I was refreshed and educated by this read. --clint ------------------ |

Interesting, but it is more interesting to know the flip side along with this prespective. Which is that "in the last couple of years" as the phrase goes so much on a Global world wide scale has changed. It turns out that not only did the computer increase the amount of work you can do it is requiring people and companies to continue to do more, and to provide more services for equal or lessor cost. And countries like America can't stop or slow down because there are lots of other countries ready and willing do to an equivelent job for less. The computer is becoming like the Egyptian slave drivers to the children of Israel, and there will come a time when everyone is required to make the same number of bricks and have to gather their own straw. Side note of new technology, check out Google Earth, I was able to see what looked like someones red truck parked outside my house. but Back in 2002 when the picture was taken it was somone elses house. ------------------ |

"Does it bring us together, or draw us apart?" Indeed, this question is not asked often enough. Perhaps it is time our society started asking it more often? ------------------ 7 Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. 8 Do not tremble, do not be afraid. |
