This is the first year that I really might be able to go to CDGC, and I'm really hoping I can go. I'll either bite the bullet and buy the plane tickets (it'll be around $1100 total for the two of us to go), or possibly try and carpool with anyone else from the midwest who's interested in going.

I think the opportunity to network with other Christian game developers could be really valuable, especially if this is something that I might do as a full-time career.

I'd love to go. Maybe next year (which is what I said last year).

About 32 registered so far but that will be over 40 when Digital Praise, Brethren and Remnant register.

Clint - did you try priceline or hotwire? Especially if you can flex on travel days/times?

Also, check with your local church to see if they can help with travel. We are trying to get scholarships-but that will just cover the registration fees (which covers food, shirt, printed program but not lodging but the dorm is only $15/night/person).

No matter, we request that you be praying earnestly for the conference - that it glorify him.

Thanks,
Tim

Wow it sure came up fast! I really do need to go, but it looks like I'm going to miss out on it again.

if you were made of money, i think you'd be in danger, people would kill you and cut you up so they could use the money you were made of

So... enough of the people who arn't going let's get a tally of the people who are. I see like... 1? 2? I didn't really count. My question is that how many people turn out for these things?

So are all Christians this annoying or did something attract them all to this corner of the internet?

I've gone the last 2 years and am not sure about this year. I had planned on going, but I was just on an over 2 week business trip and don't particularly want to leave my wife with the kids...yet again. I may end up just going on Saturday, but I would really like to be there for Friday as well. Friday night is a fun late night where you mingle and talk and just hang out.

We just recently hired someone I met at last year's conference. It's just one more cool thing about the conference.

As far as how many people attend, it seems like around 100 people were at the last 2 conferences. That's pretty exciting considering it's only been around for 3 years. There are still many people who stumble across the conference saying "I've been looking for something like this for a long time."

Hey, good question. This is our Fourth year. Last year we had 100 and 90 the year before. I wouldn't mind if there were not quite so many! I didn't get a chance to talk with everyone.

About 40 are registered now but I know at 20 more that are coming.

Registration page is at:
http://cgdc.org/forms/cgdc_registration.asp

If you can drive, you should consider coming - let me know and we can see if someone else is coming from your area and possibly car pool.

God bless,
Tim

Tim,

Do you know of anyone who is carpooling from the Indiana area? That's a heckuvahaul. Plane ticket prices went down, we can probably do it for about $900 in plane tickets now (possibly lower if I bid on Priceline, which I think I will).

Not really, some are registered from Wisconsin, a couple from Illinois but I think most are flying. I'm sure the two from Georgia are flying.

Before bidding on priceline - check out what Hotwire says to get a feel for where prices are. Then bid at least half that one priceline and work your way up.

Another more last minute option is United offers weekend deals, but those are really hit or miss on which airlines and Portland is seldom on the list.

Be praying!

I'm going to try to attend. I've made arrangements for a ride, and I'm trying to get everything in order to go. A problem area could be finances for me, but I believe I'll be making the conference okay. I think I'll need some help.

Well I didn't hit my target (my target that I was praying for was $800 combined cost of registration/lodging/flight), but things went down today pretty low to around $419/ticket, then I watched them go up again all day today back up to $480. *sigh*. I kept checking all of the different sites and found Travelocity selling the same tickets for $298! So I submitted a request to PriceLine for a little lower than that, they didn't meet it, so I jumped on the Travelocity one. Whoopee! PTL!

So that said, we registered, and we'll be there!

Those aren't too bad of pricing Clint!

I look forward to meeting you in person. You too Ashton!

Richard - Wales? Wow. Do you have more details on the degree? I pray that you do well.

Hey, Tim, I just found out that my spam filter has been stealing all your emails.

*busy nabbing them back*

I also found out that an email I tried to send wasn't really sent. New email sent.

Ashton (sean) - looking forward to meeting you.

Everyone be nice to Clint! He is tall! And he has a leatherman's!!

Ah, the list of stuff I forgot at home! Argh.

And kinko's is NOT open 24 hours a day in Oregon! Hmm...

For those of you not attending, please be praying this conference Glorifys our Lord, encourages the attendees, and that He impart his wisdom for our direction.

Thx,
Tim

Okay, lets see...

registration is $55. Dorms are $15 a night for 3 nights. Transportation varies.

55 + (15 * 3) = 100

so transportation aside, it is a minimum of $100 to go I think. So 100 dollars divided by 12 months is $8.33. If you can find out what transportation costs, and plan ahead enough, you can see what it would cost to go, then divide it by 12 and then you could save that much up each month. If money is a problem you could ask around at church to see if someone would like to help with costs, and there's also a scholarship program available for the convention. Also prayer helps a lot.

I'm sorry you couldn't come this year, but I hope this helps you get here next year. I think I'm going to make a CGDC'06 bank once I get home, myself .

Hey,
Paul Bury lives in Federal Way so probably could get you a car pool too.

Next year isn't scheduled yet but it will most likely be the last half of July.

Still recovering! We had 4 Canadians, 3 Australians, 1 Switzerland-person, 1 South Korean, 1 Brazilian, and 1 cool English bloke (that was Jon). Pretty cool!

Media that showed up -> Assoc. Press, Gamespot, Family Friendly Gaming, NBC Today show. (More were scheduled and possibly came, I didn't connect with them).

Please be praying for safe travel for folks.

The main dude in charge of Family Friendly Gaming Magazine, check it out at:

Lots of others from Washington too so I'd say it wouldn't be too hard to car pool next year.
