Doom? What is Doom? Viva la Marathon!

While PC users were busy playing "boring old Doom" us crazy Mac users were busy with Bungie's Marathon. Marathon was one of if not the first games to have secondary fire for weapons, reloading of ammo clips, the ability to look up and down, duallie pistols, great environmental sounds, a well-done storyline, etc etc.

If you've played the Halo games enough I'm sure you'll recognize a lot of names and ideas since apparently both series are based in the same "story universe": The voice of the Grunts also did BOB (Born On Board) aka "They're everywhere! Run away!", weapons like the SPNKR missile launcher and the plasma pistol (watch out, charge the pistol in Marathon too long and it'll blow), the Marathon symbol was on the uniforms of the humans in Halo, and I could probably keep going.

Still one of my favorites games and I've gone back and played Marathon 2 and Infinity via CoOp. Bungie actually designed the levels in Infinity specifically for CoOp, and there are special areas and maps you can't reach in single player. If you can find it, try to get Marathon: Evil, one of the best mods I've ever played. Unfortunately only the engine for Durandul and Infinity were ported to Windows so you need a Mac for the original Marathon.

I found it a lot different than Halo when I started off, but once you get the hang of it, they really did improve it. Aw man the pixels are moving around and I can't tell if it's the monitor or if my eyes are broken cause I'm sick.

H2 rocks, just like H1. Bloody MS stealing bungie from us. Well I like how all the important guys quit and started cool companies that are Mac/PC/Xbox simultaneous release. Like Destinere and Wide Load. Jeff
