i was wondering if anyone knew a good book for vb6, or blitz? i want to dive into it while i have nothing else to do. i'll have a month or more to get started, and i'm sure after that i'll know if i want to get any further in it. oh, and does anyone have a good idea for a simple program, something for me to work towards and learn as i go? any help appreciated! ------------------ www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia |

I can't think of an excellent all-encompassing book on Blitz though CCN's own Krylar wrote one on Blitz-2D that was quite good and is a great place to start. There was also a Blitz for Teenagers type book but from what I heard, that was pretty ordinary and so can't be recommended. As for a project, I strongly suggest doing what I like to, which is remake an old classic game. You'll learn a lot in a short time plus without having to design the game mechanics from scratch, you'll be free to focus on learning the skills of coding. And your game will probably turn out well-balanced if you follow the original closely. Hope you give it a whirl! |

i wasn't expecting to find a book that has everything, just one that has something! all the vb6 books explain vb6, the application, not the programming side of it. i just need to focus on something i suppose. anywho... ------------------ www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia |

some reason game programming seems to complicated to me and i lose interest, but when i hear about all the technical stuff that has to be done just to get , let's say, a car to move along a road it sounds interesting again. ------------------ www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia |
