I've heard of it, but never tried it.

I've used Classic, haven't tried Pro. (In fact I accidentally lost my registration in a reformat of my computer and one of these days have to see if they still have me on file.)

One thing about DB (at least classic) is that you program by number--load image 3, move object 4. You can have it much nicer by defining variables with those numbers, then the effect is just as if objects can be named! :-)

Another nice thing about DB is that it spaces out some of the commands into separate word for a more English-like effect than other versions of BASIC.

I used to use DB but before the pro version existed. I was only using the demo version which was probably the most generous demo ever created. You couldn't use .3ds files and there was a splash screen (and a maximum entity number or something, but it allowed you to create standalone .exe files which was great for evaluation purposes.

Having said all that, I would have bought it eventually but I switched to blitz, and then to Blitz3d which I prefer. Curiously, I should have a free copy of DB being sent to me as a consolation prize from a game making contest.

I'd be curious to see if the graphics engine is any better in the pro version because the standard engine was a bit slow.

oh ok, i actually do use dbpro, i upgraded from classic late last year, i was just wondering if any other christians were using it

oh and yes dbpro is alot faster than classic, but until they fix some of the bugs, i wouldnt release anything im working on (they released it before it was actually finished cause everybody wanted it NOW, lol so guess what, all they do is complain about the bugs instead hehe)

Just kiddin I must get over there one day and check out WA. BTW, I have been putting together a list of Australian Christians interested in making games, with the idea of maybe organising some sort of local group. email me at j_brown@iprimus.com.au if you'd like to be kept in the looop.

Well, maybe it's because the concept of Christian Coders is inherently stupid. It's kind of like a web page for chefs who have bald heads. The two issues have nothing to do with one another. From what I've seen 'Christian Coders' as a group seem to be a hiding place for people who write bad games. It has been the case for a long time that Christianity is good marketing in the USA and a good way to sell a bad products. I'd be embarrased to have written every 'Christian' game I have seen.
Christian

Lol, he always made me laugh :P

Krylar that is sooooo cool that we can still "see" 2001 threads!! amazing work - I hope the database continues to hold old threads like that, it's a great facility

Christian and MeanManInOz were the same guy? wow a split personality interdimensional rift! wow so NOW the truth can be told, errrr he was just TWO guys right? not 3?
