I found my son at 11pm watching this "soap" programme on the Disney channel hey I never ever saw this brilliant series ! WOW I love it, it's so well written !

the latest I saw, had Earl and the bloke he works with stuck up to their waste in a tar pit, ouch I was getting worried there, because in the end, they sank up to their necks!

had a really funny ending that one too, I loved it!

anybody know this fabbo series (now at 11pm I'm with my son watching this crazy programme!)

what's your "soap" TV that you love?

heheh DINOSAURS!!!

That was a funny series. It ran several years ago over here in the states, but it didn't last very long (the good ones never seem to for some reason).
I always liked how that series always patched the ending together to make everything work out right...tho at times it always seemed like everyone took advantage of one another. I guess in many ways that does reflect how so many people do behave, eh?

I can't really say I have a fave series...there are many I like, but I really can't say I like them well enough to claim a favorite. Honestly, I try to take more time with my family than I do watching the telly...but there are occasions where it is quite right to sit down with them all and watch a movie and share some laughs together.

Cheers,
~Matt

hehe nice one! well the whole lot are back again on air in the UK every night at 11pm

I just saw the best one so far, where Earl gets struck by lightning at work

his 'spirit' gets swapped with that of a tree, that he was standing next to at the time
Earl goes home to Fran (but he is really "the tree") and the way he acts is totally brilliant! He pours water over the floor and brings Charmaine's dead pot plant back to life

meanwhile back at the 'actual' tree Earl (in the tree) is finding out what being a tree is like
He has birds nesting in his boughs and a squirrel living inside the trunk

totally brilliant episode really good
well
did anybody have another series/soap that they are watching at the moment (that they can get as excited about??!)?

Here in Australia, the word 'soap' refers to brain dead drivel like Neighbours and Days of our Lives. It makes me laugh that 'christian' parents won't let their kids read Harry Potter, but will let them watch such shows.

Sorry, just avoided a rant there.

So soap just means any show in the USA ? I'm just interested in the different meaning for the same term.

Yes, I enjoyed the Dinosaurs when it was on here as well, pretty funny stuff.

Nah, I think it just comes down to personal defenitons. I live in the U.S. and when I hear the term "soap" I usually think of the same sort of stuff you do christian.

yeah, huh. I thought soaps were like womany-chicky-flicky-never-ending-plot kinda shows. ya know, with the woman buried alive in a coffin by another woman who's in love with her boyfriend, who, of course, wear's and eyepatch. haha.
Later, man.

I watched Dinosaurs a couple of times, particularly liked the episode where he was supposed to throw his mother in law into the tarpits for good...you'll get a chuckle out of that one.

Another (kind of) soap that I thought was quite interesting was 'Freaks n Geeks' (think Brady Bunch but in the 80's) which I think didn't even last a season but it touched on some really heavy subjects in a not too irreverent way. I was really disappointed that it didn't make it.

hehe I haven't seen that one yet Amazin'Jas but it looks like it will come around in the end, they are ploughing through them all one by one

talking of kids' TV, it seems to me that kids' programmes in the 1980s were flippin' TEN TIMES better than the kids' TV we have now
when I saw FOX KIDS channel arrive a few years back, I had high hopes of seeing some of the CLASSIC TV (maybe like Dinosaurs) that IS actually high quality entertainment BUT NO!

I'm hopeless with names but there was another one I really liked from late 70's, or maybe early eighties:
-Teenagers shipwrecked on an island where baddies seem to be living in somewhere around the 1800's, maybe called "The Lost Islands".

it was a bunch of kids and their dad going on a camping trip or something
they earth open up and swallowed them, they were sucked into another world.
