See the town shown “ESHER” ?? Well this is where I worked 1997 – 2001, happy days I tell you, I live just a few miles from there … 20 minutes cycling distance in a town (not marked) called WALTON –ON- THAMES
So…. Can you see the placed marked “RICHMOND” ? This is where my new job started in 2001 – I can still cycle to work but it now takes me an hour, not 20 minutes !! The 2 aircraft symbols are LEFT … Heathrow and RIGHT .. Gatwick. I worked at Heathrow 1979 – 1984 and thoroughly enjoyed it I tell ya, (even HAPPIER days) :-)

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=500000&Y=200000&width=500&height=300&client=public&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&scale=1000000&down.x =21&down.y=17

Motorway land, see the M3 ? M4? M25 ? M40? I use all of these motorways – in order of highest use M25 then M3 then M40, do you know these motorways? Boy they could double the width of these things easy, it’d be so much better !! See the town marked Woking, I moved there in 1984 with the missus and a 1 year old baby girl, we had a son and stayed around until 1988 when we moved to WALTON !! I loved WOKING, I would get home at about 3.30pm and get hold of my 2 kids aged 3 and 5 and take them out through fields, farmyards, commons – we saw horses, cows, hens, rabbits, I loved it as much as the kids, boy those are the days I miss the MOST !

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=500000&Y=150000&width=500&height=300&client=public&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&scale=1000000&advanced=&multim ap.x=265&multimap.y=85

If you can see “Walton-on-Thames” on the map then THAT’S WHERE I AM NOW !! and see KINGSTON UPON THAMES I worked there 1997 –2000 they were great days too, gotta say I’ve been lucky – always worked quite close to home. KINGSTON our fave big town centre where we always go to buy CDs, slick clothes, playstation stuff, the town centre is BIG. TOP LEFT of the map is Windsor where my missus is completely SOLD on that shopping centre. Similar in size to Kingston, it’s “as good” and has a real CASTLE too !!

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=510000&Y=170000&width=500&height=300&client=public&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&scale=200000&right.x =27&right.y=7

Okey doh, you saw my maps you read my life history…. Was it interesting ? OK, now it’s your turn, use www.multimap.com if you like but let’s hear whereabouts you live and work !! Why ? Usual reason…. It’s a laugh !!

oh here is my hometown..

called Napier in little old New Zealand..

http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=19700000.9213301&Y=-4800000.94429876&width=700&height=400&client=public&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=mercator&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&adv anced=&scale=4000000&in.x=9&in.y=8

from the map you can see we are on the coast, and there are lots of good surf spots..

my birth city had a huge earthquake in the 1931, and most of the land we live on now, came up out of the see in that earthquake

http://www.directenergy.com.au/FamilyTrees/napier_earthquake_1931_photo_gal.htm

in those pictures you can see some of the damage of the earthquake, and also before and after of the sea...
since most of the city was destroyed, it was thus rebuild, mostly in yhe art deco style, and thus is now recognised as the 'art deco' capital of the world..

and here you can see what the city looks like now

http://www.hb.co.nz/artdeco/gallery.htm

we have a really nice climate, one of the best in new zealand... we are a city build on the flats, but the surrounding area is vineyards, olive groves, rolling hills and many orchards..

i grew up here, swimming in the ocean and the rivers (and still do).. we have a population of 55,000 , but with our nearby city hastings with a similar population (b.t.w in all truth hastings used to be called Hicksville!!!) and together we are the 8th largest city area in New Zealand.... in my area there are probably about 30,000 people.. and last night, our church of 150 people put on a concert and a $5000 fireworks display, and we got 3000 people turn out.. awesome, espeially from a culture that is quite pagan, where we have many witchcraft shops downtown and a culture which mocks the church and mocks God..

so Glory to God

so this is my hometown, where i grew up... but having been married, i also have a new hometown in america, and also a hometown in China, which is a place where my heart often is...

Right now I live in a hamlet (which is actually the size of a large town) which is around a 20 min drive from the city I was born in and took my 10 month MSCT training course in (Edmonton) which is about 90 mins from a town where I spent most of my time growing up (Ponoka). :P

Hamlet where I am, marked with a red star

I was going to include pictures of some of the places, but it looks like I'll have to use a digicam to get some shots maybe. I found some of Edmonton:

klumsy - I love your 1931 Napier earthquake photos, very interesting, dunno about the recent photos though, they seem obsessed with NZ buildings don't they ??

those black and white pics tell an amazing story though, what awful devestation, the earthquake is man's biggest threat - second only to WAR eh ?

Klumsy I read that a great surfing game is coming out on the PS2 and last week I watched a demo (PS2 mag demo) it was flippin amazing, best surfing game EVER, have you done any yourself ?

Insane Poet .... what happened ? Your map never made it to the display

Mack
Canada eh ? Genexi2 is working on Canada v Kyoto Protocol

do you think Canada should sign up ??

BTW
your hamlet map beats multimap hands down don't it ??
hmmm tough choice, New Zealand , Canada, they both sound like heaven to me, my missus and me were planning a big big holiday in 2 years time and we decided one of those 2 for a couple of weeks would be wicked

yeah you mean that www.multimap.com

I know EXACTLY what you mean InsanePoet, it took me 30 minutes to finalise my top post in this thread
first I tried getting the map to display in an IMG but that wouldn't work at all
THEN
I tried embedding the incredibly long url but it wouldn't have that either so I totally sympathise

It seems that multimap are saying "Use our maps but check out our adverts as the price"

anyway
please do try again or why not just join in without the map ?
it'd STILL be cool to hear where you're at anyway

Well as my profile states, I live in Wallingford Vermont.
Where exactly that is...
Absolutly in the middle of nowhere (although, I can get DSL and cable, go figure)

If you don't know where vermont is, it's the state next to New York
