Congratulations, kids RULE.
Having said that, why would you pray for God to help him choose a name ? How is it a decision that will impact on anyones life at all ? I'm also keen to know how a new born child is a child of God ? ( Actually, rather than spoil a thread about something so wonderful, if you reply, could it be on a new thread ? )

But I digress. Congratulations again to all involved

1) i think names are important, at least the hebrews did.. however i won't say that a name with a bad meaning has cursed a kid's life or anything.. But why not get a good meaning..
And if God has indeed given each person a destiny and a plan for their lives, why not have a name that reflects that, a name that reflects their identity.. God used that technique in renaming abraham, and sarah... so everything their name was said , they started to think "ah that's who i am.. thats my identity" in english where the meaning and actual sound of the name is far seperated through history - it might not make sense, but lets say chinese.. where everybody who hears (or especially reads your name knows its meaning)..
As far as a kid being a child of God... I was saying a few things.. That Kids are a blessing and a gift from God... God made them, not us, He intricately knows them and knits them together in the mothers womb not us, He loves them ever more than we could ever.. We as parents are blessed with them, but they are ours, they are still God's.. our Job is one of responible stewardship - though we are blessed along the way.. we don't own them.. i wasn't trying to say that they were christians or anything like that..
as far as a name affecting somebodies life - if a kid was named 'useless' 'stupid', 'goodfornothing' or something and parents, school children etc keep calling them their name.. it would affect their life (hey i've seen some shocking names parents have called their kids)
while if a kid was named "lovedbyGod" , "beautifulandfullofworth" , "manwithadestiny" or something.. and they kept being told those names.. it would affect them..
aye Meanman - er i mean Christian :P

and i suppose it will be angels perogative to say whether you ruined the thread or not..

babys aren't "saved", since they dont have the intelegence, or knowlege to make a choise of heaven or hell. up to the age of acountav=bility, the age where a child really can understand who God and the devil are, is the line. Before that time, if they were to die, they would go to heaven, because they were inocent still, but after that line, they have to make the choise all of us have to make: to accept, or reject (which is the same as not making a decition). So ya, there not christians exactly.

yeah i think kind of like that.. but i don't see that as doctrine..
basically i don't know where the line is drawn.. i don't understand it, i don't think there is enough biblical info to make solid doctrines on it.. but i do believe in God's character, in his overwhelming love, grace and justice, his goodness, and i can trust him, that in whatever way he manages it, he is good.. and it would be nice for me to understand it.. but whether i know the details or not doesn't change the fact that God is God..
