Hey everyone,

I've noticed a decrease of traffic in the number of posts/replies on the CCN, I don't know how many hits we get per week/month, but I personally would like to see alot more traffic coming in/out/coming back, more so on the fourms. Anyone share these ideas with me and have any ideas on how to increase traffic? I think this is one of the few Christian websites that actually have a proper UBB system installed (am I right/wrong?). Comments?

I do think that we'll get more hits and participation once the uber tools are finished, but that's going to take time because of work/family balancing. So, are there any other ideas? The articles are cool, but I don't think that's doing it.

I don't want to totally change the scope of the site because it is a site for teams of Christian Coders (hence why I think the tools will help), but it would be cool to have something more useful for folks than just cool boards.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, and thanks for starting this thread Mack!

Hi Guys.

People always come when there is something for nothing.
Do we have anything (and small games or something useful) that people may wish to have?

Is it worth it to have a links page which has links to shareware games that we have made? (But then again, some of our games are a bit tacky (mine included) and it may make the site look less professional).

I just know that I get a lot of hits on my links page.

Just an idea.

I think we should intergrate the developer aspect of Christian games as well, and have open discussion about games, game development, etc. as well as game programming. I'm going to do some advertising on some Christian sites that I know of, hopefully generating some content, but I'll do that after the reno's are done.

I think you need to make the site more easy to find. I stumbled on it accidently.. saying that i don't know how it ranks in the search engines.

I definately agree with the idea of posting our games on the site for people to download.

While I like the idea of posting the games on the site for people to download, I have to be cautious about diskspace. Soooooooo...what about this:

Set it up so folks can put up information about a game or application (doesn't *have* to be a game) that has screenshots (that's hostable), information, voting, comments, and links to the website of the developer and a link directly to the ZIP/RAR/etc. file.

Here's an example:

Title: Kantagh: The Renegade Faction
Style: 2D, Top-Down, Action
Developer: Krylar's Kreations
Download Link: There is no game yet
Language(s) Used: Blitz Basic
Source Included? No
Desc: A futuristic romp through space where you can build up your ships, get into trading, create factions, and whoop some alien butt.
Average User Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Comments:

And then there'd be comments split up in here.

Whaddya think?

Also...what about an Image of the Day option? Look at http://www.flipcode.com to get what I mean here.

Its me again. Popping in for my short amount of time I get a month. (Truly trajic I just have to trust GOD knows what he is doing. I miss the time I used to spend thinking of ways to help CCN out! ) I know as a programmer the one thing I look for the most that is getting more rare all the time is WELL DOCUMENTED source code. Most of the available source online is jibberish because they use short cryptic variable names and very very few comments. Perhaps we can make our own source code database that is well commented. Or ask permission of others to comment the source code that is already available. Then we could make a quick little tool that would strip comments out of source code for various programming languages. This shouldn't be hard. That my two cents is two minutes. Unfortunately its back to the normal schedule. See you sometime in the future.

Is this thing working?
Yep, I guess it is.

Cross purposes...

Do you want good programming or good religion or both?

Have you ever tried to control how people program or think about programming? Its is as diverse as thought itself.

Hmmm... Emphasis on the cross or coding... Are they truly compatible? Hard to say. I think that a strickly Blitz Basic site was a good move, but you should be patient.

If you prefer good religion then you should concentrate on that, which is no easy feat to turn people on.

Best wishes,
