Just found this gem:

"DirectX 3D Graphics Programming Bible" (May, 2000), which covers DirectX 7, is on sale at amazon.com for ONLY $5.00!

Mine's already on it's way...

Hate to ask but...if you click on the Amazon.com link off the front page of this site when you order, the price will be the same to you, but it gives a little kickback to help support the CCN. Hey...every little bit helps, ya know?

Hey, that's a good idea - thanks for pointing that out. I'll use that for any future purchases.

I've found that buying old Direct X books was a very good way to get some great and useful reference material at a bargain price. A computer store near where I grew up in Cincinnati called Micro Center Mall had a ton of discounted books, and I've nabbed a number of one-edition-back books for a fraction of the cost. I think last month I bought O'Reilly's Learning Perl book there for $7 or something -- brand new except for not covering the latest-and-greatest Perl.

Ahhhh yes. I use to love visting MicroCenter when I lived in Atlanta I went whenever I could. I always felt giddy walking in! lol!

Also, for *REALLY CHEAP*, ok you have to give them back eventually, but if you live in a county with a good library system, you can sometimes find some pretty darn good stuff. I live near Rochester, ny and here's my search results for a search on 'game programming' on the library's intranet: game programming

..good stuff.

Of course now that I'm in college its insane what I can get a hold of:
search on game programming

now only if I could only get some free time

LOL Realm-master, I saw this title of this thread and got excited, thinking I could get a deal on a new DirectX book. I don't even have that book anymore.
