I am sure there are alot of newer members who have no idea who I am, but I am a 19 year old game developer, and a very strong christian. I have been on this path, the game developing, for about 3 years, I have my own company, ArcAngel Entertainment, and are currently working on a game, Kings of Ethristah. I have also been with CCN for over 2 or 3 years. I am troubled with the amount of horrid content in games as of late, and even more troubled by the amount of parents that are caught unaware of the content in the games there young kids are playing, i.e. Grand Theft Auto, and God of War. I am working on making a gaming magazine for both Christian gamers, and parents so they are informed on upcoming games, and games already out, and have a nice list of fun, and acceptable games. This magazine is called Outkast, because we are the outcasts in the gaming world, we are the people who nobody thinks about when developing a game. We are the Christian Gamers. I am currently working on the first draft, as a first reference, I am also looking for hard working, serious gamers/developers, who are willing to contribute something or anything to this magazine. This is is going to start out online, with website, and be an online Magazine, but eventually go to hard copy, while still being available to these customers online or as a stand alone subscription for less. For instance, if you are wanting a game to be previewed send me the information, maybe a sample of the game to play, so I can give my own opinions and all, and screenshots help. If you are willing to give an interview, then please tell me you are interested, and I will take you down on a list of possible interviewees. Or even people who are willing to work for the magazine as a regular columnist (which, for now, is a non-profit VOLUNTEER position), or even freelance. So if anyone is interested, or has anything they would like to see in a Christian Gaming Magazine, please email me, with the subject of "Outkast Christian Gaming Magazine", at heavenly_blessed@hotmail.com. I appreciate it alot. Thanks for the future encouragement, and help. God Bless You All!!! Still Gaming 4 HIM! PS: To the owner of CCN, I would also like to advertise this community in it, so if I could have permission to use the logo, and title that would be excellent. If you have an advertisement page idea, I am more then willing to put it in there. PSS: I would also appreciate any other Christian Gaming sites' link, that might be willing to contribute to the Magazine. ------------------ |

Hello--I sent ya an email about possibly being interviewed ![]() ------------------ |
Gamer4Christ![]() Member Posts: 551 From: Kokomo, Indiana, USA Registered: 07-19-2005 |
Thanks Zookey, for the reply, and I will check my email as soon as I can, lol. I had no idea there was a band called Outkast, thanks for the info, back to the drawing board on the name I guess, lol, but I will trust the Lord in providing a name for us. As far as "us against the world", it was never intended to be like that, out intention has always been to open Christian gaming and views to the world, not just fight with the rest of the world. Like you said, we are in this world, not of it. Thanks for the help, and we will definitley be adding you to the list. ![]() Still Gaming 4 Christ, ------------------ |

quote: Sweet cool cool hehe! Maybe Outquast? Or just Outcast? The name is cool--just didn't know if it would be an issue sharing it with the band (I don't know if it matters since the band is in music and this is in gaming, but figured I would be remiss in not stating it)--either way that is awesome you are doing it!!!! ------------------ |

You can use Outkast as long as your motto is "Heyyyy yah... for Christ!" or "Shake it like a Polaroid picture.. for Christ!" Seriously, I have the song stuck in my head now. ------------------ |

I'd be interested in helping, I'm not exactly sure what exact positions I can help with. I'm not sure I'd want any responsibilities, but just give you guys some help. I'd love to be interviewed, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me.(bit too young) One little thing about Outkast(or other spellings) is that not only are outcasts resented withing the normal community, but usually outcasts resent the normal community. Disregarded sounds mysterious to me and on a list of gaming magazines that would be the one I would be most likely to pick up, its the most unusual. But whatever you guys like. ------------------ |

Hey G4C! Good to see you swinging back around here. ![]() I hope you don't mind if I ask you some hard questions? #1) The first thing I always ask people asking for help on their own projects is what experience they have working on a similar project in a supportive role. I'm assuming you've worked as a writer/editor of a magazine/newspaper before? #2) When making any project, you should be able to make a statement that says very clearly why your product is better than your leading competitor. For instance, I can think of 4 other projects that are out there that have very similar goals to yours: quote: The ones that I can think of off the top of my head are: Al Menconi Ministries - "Helping Parents Communicate Values to Their Children" (with a good-sized-and-growing section specifically for games) Christ Centered Game Reviews - "CCGR.org is a Christian computer game review site. We are not limited to Christian computer games, our main focus is on secular games and their content. So many games out there are inappropriate for children and Christians. Our reviews help Christians and parents choose their games wisely. We also discuss other criteria in games that non-Christians will appreciate. We feel our content is important because games are expensive and difficult to return. Our mission is to find games that are both fun and appropriate. There are many computer game review sites out there. Ours is unique and offers a different perspective on today's computer games. Our site is family friendly, so there is no cussing or inappropriate material anywhere." Plain Games - "Plain Games is here to help by providing a more in-depth look into the content of video games when viewed through our lens of Christian values. It is our hope that having this information will better equip you in selecting games for your child’s play."
Not that I don't see the potential for new Christian gaming magazines to crop up, I'm just not yet seeing what you are offering to bring new to the table.
Hope you and Teresa are doing well! In Christ, |

I think it could work, but you will need to approach it from a fresh angle and offer something new. I personally don't subscribe to any Christian Games/Gaming Magazines or websites (other then CCN obviously). I would like to see a magazine, that combines Christian Gaming news, Christian Reviews of Secular Games, Coding Tutorials and Tech Articles. Christian Game Developer interviews and a demo/tools/apps/special offers download/cd. Fulfill the above and i'll subscribe ------------------ |

quote: I personally think that would be an awesome angle--add in interviews and reviews of secular games that don't feature sexuality and/or outright satanic stuff (many things in games and movies people would say are satanic I believe are just fantasy elements--I am talking if a game actually tried to convince a person to do something wrong in real life)----for instance (although, admitidly, this is a stretch) it would be cool to do a feature on Heavenly Sword since they have a strong female lead who ISN'T intended to be eye candy---her costume covers all her private areas and the entire game presents her as this well created human being with faults and strengths--I was so psyched to see that some developers out there are actually willing to NOT have immature crap----actually they made the main bad guy in the game a sexual pervert to vilify him more--almost as a contrast to the female lead who is honorable---so, if you could interview people that do stuff like that which, in turn, inspires the next generation of game designers to higher standards--that'd rock the house! ------------------ |

I'm with D-SIPL. If it's got Christian Gaming news, Christian Reviews of Secular Games, Coding Tutorials and Tech Articles, Christian Game Developer interviews and a demo/tools/apps/special offers download/cd, I'd pay $5-$7 for an issue. I wouldn't subscribe for a bit, but I'd definitely pay on a per-issue-basis. As for interviewing people (like Zookey), I've had some experience in that style of writing, just ask a couple frequent posters around here ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. Oh, btw, if you're looking for a print publisher, Lulu.com may be your best bet. It's a DIY publishing company where you pay for the amount of items you're publishing. They do magazines and books and the like. EDIT: The more I think about this, the more on fire I am about it (both writing for and reading)! ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. I like the idea of reviews of game-related stuff, not just he games themselves. perhaps game consoles, and certain computer hardware could be recommended. but to start off with it would be best to stick with game reviews, and then branch out. that's my opinion anyway. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |

First off I want to thank everyone for their responses and encouragement, lol, it motivates me so much to know I have a huge support here. Second off, I want to apologize for not responding as quickly as I would've liked to, I do not have access to the internet all the time, so please bear that in mind when replying to me, lol, please do not get impatient when waiting for a response from me, I will get back to you as soon as I am able, lol. Now to the actual replies... @Zookey: I like the name outcast, however it is spelled, so it will probably go to OutCast, lol. @ArchAngel: LOL, interesting. @Jari: I would be honored to review Darkening. Just tell me when you are ready for me to do so, I am willing to look at it at anytime at all, so whenever you want to reveal it to me, lol. @Mene-Mene: lol, I would be appreciative of any help, lol, I will get back to you on something you could do, lol, but just tell me of something you are more interested doing. Giving or doing interviews, reviews, previews, articles? lol, as far as the rest of the post, I am kind of confused, are you saying you are more likely to pick up a gaming magazine named Outcast, or are you saying you are less likely to do so? lol @HanClinto: Yeah, lol, it has been a while since I have been here like this, lol. I do not mind the hard questions at all, lol. I actually like being asked quesions because it makes me think about why I am doing something, or things that I have not thought about before, so I will answer your questions to the best of my ability. @D-SIPL: Alot of what you have listed to a Mag you would subscribe to, is actually on our list to put in the Magazine, lol. So I hope, when it is published, you find it is worth your time to pick up, and maybe subscribe to, lol. @Zookey Again: I think the Heavenly Sword story is exciting to, lol. I was discouraged when it was described as the next God Of War, but you have brought it back under my attention, and I must investigate it further, lol. I would love to see more games developed like that, where they vilify the immoral, and encourage the honorable. @CPUFreak: Lol, well like I said before, I found alot of what he listed is already on our list to put in it. lol, I would gladly take your assitance in interviewing people, lol. @Bennythebear: One of the things we were talking about is doing a "Console Grade Card", which would be more based on two things, actual innovations, and specs and all that cool stuff, but also on what games they offer that are more appropriate for certain age groups, like how Nintendo always does more family/kid oriented games and Microsoft/Sony does more mature, and teen oriented games, lol. Again thanks for all the hope, and encouragement. I appreciate it alot, lol. I love getting all of these replies, lol. And so far, save for Zookey, I have seen all of the Older Members who I am used to talking to about things, lol, which is encouraging to see that everyone is still here and still strong. Sweet---glad I got you interested in Heavenly Sword again---actually, by making the main bad guy a pervert, I think they added to his depth of evil and show you how demented he really is--it makes him more than a stereotypical bad guy. ------------------ |

that sounds interesting, g4c! i hope you can get it going. just don't say "lol" so much. ![]() btw, zookey, i sort of copied this quote: and put it in my sig. hope you don't mind! ------------------ "By the way, what does BTW stand for?" - IRC message Über-Geek [This message has been edited by leet hacker (edited October 05, 2007).] |

@Zookey: Yeah, I think it is good that they make the bad guy in a game like that have a trait that is not viewed as a terrible thing, because it DOES amplify that that really is bad. I just find it interesting that it is a Secular game developer that did it, lol. @Leet Hacker: LOL, if you look at any of my posts you will notice I say "lol" at least 3 times in each post, and that is JUST short, one sentence posts. But when it comes to writing, and being serious the "lol"'s are absent as they should be, lol. =P BTW you put: 1 4|\/| 73|-| |_||332-1337 |-|@><0|2 4 (|-||21$7. ------------------ |
