Hey, does anyone know how I can recover my ubuntu username and password? I never knew it, a friend installed ubuntu for me and the computer has been stuck in the closet until about a week ago. I don't know the user/pass and neither does my friend. Thanks, |

I would try a reinstall without formatting the partition. Other than that there is http://aplawrence.com/Linux/lostlinuxpassword.html a site that talks about the topic. Never had any first hand experience with that so I can't speak to any level of success. |
