Hi Randall, Posting here may net some. You can also post at http://GarageGames.com or our portal, http://GameACE.org/wforum Gamasutra.com has a "projects" page but now they charge to post there. Is this for your current game or a new one? God bless, ------------------ |

Hi Lava, Yes, this is for a level for a new game and I need testing on different PC's to see if the 3D engine is working correctly. Hi Graceworks, This is a new game and I'm trying to make this new one like a ride at an amusement park with constant action. I just worry about PC and engine performance. I mean it works great on my PC here at home, but not sure about other PC's??? Thus the need for testers. How was the conference? I hope all went well. I will attend next year for sure as I should have many levels by then and something to show people. Maybe then I can help out better. ------------------ |

quote: Hey - yep, CrazyTim here. Go ahead and post on GG - I have and I use Stone's Action Gallery system. You might get a few takers. What is the minimum video card you require? I'll try it on my PC, just let me know where to get the bits. I have a Radeon 9800 but only 128 Megs of VRAM. Conference was great - lots of helpers, I actually got to hear some of the talks/workshops! Make plans for '07. God bless you, ------------------ |

I'd be willing to test your game. Be warned though, I shall test the stew out of it and do my best to hand it back to you in little piece ![]() ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." Orc Outlaw, TES III Morrowind |

Hey Wow, this is great! ![]() I will PM all of you guys. I mean why make more levels if this one is not working, right? So, let me know if the race is competitive or not? Are the creature speeds okay? Okay PM'ing you guys now and thanks... This first level is the key to making more! ------------------ |

I'll test for you. I have a Radeon 9000. (My results will help you cater to the lowest common denominator. :-p) ------------------ |

Hi, So after the big yellow slide, then the frame rate drops. Hmmmnnn, Well I can re-design the terrains down there. How was the steering on everything before the yellow slide? Also, I last night uploaded another version with the same link that I previously sent out. I'll work tonight on re-doing the terrains after the yellow slide and try to increase the FPS performance down there, so the steering won't mess up. Thanks... ------------------ |
Lava Member Posts: 1905 From: Registered: 01-26-2005 |
I had steering problems with the cougar throught it all. And he seemed to move forward too fast. ------------------ [This message has been edited by lava (edited May 26, 2006).] |

same here. I don't think I even got to any yellow slide. I found it very difficult to control, so as I was going through the tunnels I guess I went out an opening thats a pretty far drop... I died. :-p ------------------ |

Okay, but I adjusted the sensitivity last night and uploaded a new version at midnight Pacific time. ![]() Hmmnn, are you guys saying that it still is too sensitive after the newest version last night? So, I think this game has to either live with the low frame rate, or find another engine. lol I think the frame rate is affecting the steering and the terrains appear to be to detailed for the engine to handle. I will turn down the sensitivity again and see if that works and upload something new late tonight again. Thanks... ------------------ |

i would post something... but i can't try it. i can't get DX9 on this pc, my other pc has a trial version of WinZip that has expired so i can't open .zips, and my other pc, the router reciever broke today so i can't dl it there... i'm waiting for my dad to get home so he can help me find our other reciever or the software for the other other one... so i can try it on that one. *sigh* lol... ------------------ |

I'm interested in trying this game out. I can play FarCry on my computer, so I don't think there's a problem with video ![]() ------------------ |
crazyishone![]() Member Posts: 1685 From: Registered: 08-25-2004 |
buddboy, you can download WinRar. that will allow you to open zip files. Also, when you have programs like that, don't open them. Just right click your archive files and choose "extract". ------------------ [This message has been edited by crazyishone (edited May 27, 2006).] |

Hi, ![]() Okay, I just uploaded a new level version. Now, some video cards love fog and others do not, but I think the newer ones all like it. So, let me know if that helps out. <the auto fog> Hint: If you wanna see the fog, just find a corner of the map that has a low frame rate and stand there for over 7 seconds. After 7 seconds of frame rate under 25 fps, then the fog kicks in and starts.

Oh well... Hey thanks everyone for the feedback! I guess I'll de-sensitize the controls further and work on level 2 now. Sorry about the frame rate. The detailed terrains and fast actions are pushing this engine to the limit. lol ------------------ |

Oh geeze, I gotta stop doing some stuff and test this game out! I took a look at it last night, but I was running quite a bit of stuff and it was reeeealy slow ------------------ |
RA Games![]() Member Posts: 93 From: Sacramento, Ca., USA Registered: 05-22-2006 |
I'm hoping you get at least 30 frames per second. ![]() Yes, miracles do happen sometimes. LOL ------------------ |
goop2![]() Member Posts: 1059 From: Registered: 06-30-2004 |
It seemed a bit fast.. even when it went down to 30 fps it seemed a bit fast. The water part I didnt particularly like, cause everyone was passing me though :P Id say.. lower the fps to maybe... 50? 60? That might make it a little more playable. ------------------ |
RA Games![]() Member Posts: 93 From: Sacramento, Ca., USA Registered: 05-22-2006 |
Oh, was the race competive? Was it a close finish? Are you able to win or almost win? Cain gains speed by jumping so JUMP him! ![]() Yes, Seth the Sheep is a "Swimmer." He passes everybody in the water. Cain, in contrast, is an adventurer. He's a great jumper, but not as good of swimmer as Seth is. Some creatures will be great jumpers, others great swimmers, and others great for strength. Eli the Elephant is strong, for example, and will run right through those barrels and poop and not slow down a bit. <boom!> How is the steering now? I'm working on level 2 at the moment. Ran... ------------------ |
goop2![]() Member Posts: 1059 From: Registered: 06-30-2004 |
I hadnt tested the game before the update, but the steering seems just a little strong. I didnt know you go faster by jumping though... Ill have to try that ![]() Without jumping it seemed like a close race though. I would have come in second.. You should change that so there are positions ------------------ |
buddboy![]() Member Posts: 2220 From: New Albany, Indiana, U.S. Registered: 10-08-2004 |
i tested it... it was kind of hard... like they said, the steering is really sensitive... and near the end, when you're just running between the two hills... you go really slow on turns and if you're not in the very center of the path... i don't know why... but that part was hard... what's with the pirate hat? lol... ------------------ [This message has been edited by buddboy (edited May 31, 2006).] |
RA Games![]() Member Posts: 93 From: Sacramento, Ca., USA Registered: 05-22-2006 |
What's with the pirate hat? Well Cain is a adventurer! SHIVER ME TIMBERS MATE! Cain used to pretend to sail the high seas when he was on the Ark. Download the latest update that I uploaded this morning and see if the controls are better now. I also added new fences in the river itself. Now why do that? So, I put fences in the river water itself, to discourage players from trying to climb out of the water. LOL Just swim downstream folks and hope for the best. I think I will archive this level now and start on level 2! Actually level 2 <the graphics> is already made, but I just have to program stuff in it to make it have creatures and props for FUN! ------------------ |
buddboy![]() Member Posts: 2220 From: New Albany, Indiana, U.S. Registered: 10-08-2004 |
um... i dled it today... the controls were still... weird, and also the fences were there... after you fall off the waterfall, it's hard to figure out where to go cuz the fence is right in front of you and you're running into it and you don't see the stairway thing right away... BTW, is this like a sequel or something to Noah's Adventures? ------------------ [This message has been edited by buddboy (edited May 31, 2006).] |
RA Games![]() Member Posts: 93 From: Sacramento, Ca., USA Registered: 05-22-2006 |
No, Noah's Adventures 1 appeals to little kids only. This game should appeal to a broader range age of audience. Although, Noah 1 is pre and during the flood based and this one is post flood based. What die? You cannot die. LOL Because you are God's mighty chosen creature from Noah's Ark, so deal with the problems man... Haha! Wait until you guys see all the animals dancing to music. God what a pretty sight that is. Hehe ------------------ |
buddboy![]() Member Posts: 2220 From: New Albany, Indiana, U.S. Registered: 10-08-2004 |
this game should appeal to a broader range? i thot 5-13 was broad enough for Noah's Adventures, in fact maybe a little too broad... ------------------ |
RA Games![]() Member Posts: 93 From: Sacramento, Ca., USA Registered: 05-22-2006 |
5-13 is too broad for Noah 1? Okay, well what do you suggest for it? What about this title? I was thinking that it appeals to ALL ages. What do you think? I'm also thinking about dropping the "Noah's Adventures" title name for it, because anything NOAH is for kids only. Now I like kids a lot, but if it decreases my audience, then I will name it something else. The Noah story, of course, will still be told in it. Question for everyone: I was thinking all ages. lol ------------------ [This message has been edited by RA Games (edited June 01, 2006).] |

i dunno... maybe it's just me, but the first level seemed like something my younger brother would want to play (he's 8 years old). nothing wrong with that, just if you're wanting to go for older, might have to change it a little. ------------------ |
Ereon![]() Member Posts: 1018 From: Ohio, United States Registered: 04-12-2005 |
Given the game's predecessor (Noahs Ark style game), I would say say that this is probably geared toward younger personages Buddboy. ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." Orc Outlaw, TES III Morrowind |

What if I made it LAN and multiplayer capable? You know you choose the lion and somebody else on the network chooses the elephant and somebody else chooses the cougar for example. Would that be fun to play for everyone? Btw, do you guys ever play LAN PC games? I don't know... I'm just thinking about it... ------------------ [This message has been edited by RA Games (edited June 01, 2006).] |

I think the way the game looks and just the feel of it probably wouldn't attract most youth groups that I know of. I do play LAN sometimes, but mostly with my brothers. ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." Orc Outlaw, TES III Morrowind |

You have to remember that this game is still in development. The "look and feel" could change alot by the time its finished. ------------------ |
