Laziness *maybe*, but fear? What makes you think these are "sins"?

If you're afraid that God won't protect you - you aren't trusting him - then fear could be a sin?

I knew about laziness, but not fear. Where did you read that?

Fear in the common definition is not the proper response to situations, but it is natural and could hardly be called a sin. Is surprise or relief a sin? Is joy or sorrow a sin? Now, giving in to that fear and letting it dictate your actions can be a sin. I wouldn't categorize any emotion as a sin. God created us with all of them. However, we are commanded to "take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." In other words, thoughts and emotions will come, but we only sin in our response to them. If you feel afraid and respond by placing your trust in God and asking Him for help, I don't see how any sin has been committed.

Don't feel any condemnation for natural emotions. In the Psalms, there are many declarations of fear, anger, jealousy, etc. The writers of the Psalms were expressing their emotions to God and asking for help. This is how we are supposed to deal with things like fear.

about laziness:

Proverbs 10:4
Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 12:24
Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.

Ecclesiastes 10:18
If a man is lazy, the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks.

Matthew 25:26
"His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?
Matthew 25:25-27 (in Context) Matthew 25 (Whole Chapter)

about fear:

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Mark 4:40
He said to them, Why are you so timid and fearful? How is it that you have no faith (no firmly relying trust)?

Luke 8:25
And He said to them, [Why are you so fearful?] Where is your faith (your trust, your confidence in Me--in My veracity and My integrity)? And they were seized with alarm and profound and reverent dread, and they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this, that He commands even wind and sea, and they obey Him?

Deuteronomy 20:8
And the officers shall speak further to the people, and say, What man is fearful and fainthearted? Let him return to his house, lest [because of him] his brethren's [minds and] hearts faint as does his own.

some of these maybe out of context so look them up at www.biblegateway.com

I wouldn't say from those scriptures they're sins, just un-wise. Either way, they're up to no good.

here is what it says in the darbys translation:

Revelation 21:8
But to the fearful and unbelieving, [and sinners], and those who make themselves abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part [is] in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

i am a bit fearful and more than a bit lazy so ,i wanted to know what you
guys think of this sins.

i realize that GOD doesn't want us to do those things but where does one draw the line what specificaly does it mean to be fearful or lazy?

btw ,foolishness is a sin to if i am not mistaken.
