I'd like to see your opinions on how Jesus can be just a good teacher. To start I'd like to say that I personally currently believe that Jesus is Savior, but I like to know why people think as much. A quote from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis: "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." A quote from Jesus that proves his point (In KJV), "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Would just a good teacher say that? Either he's a liar, a lunatic, or Lord. ------------------ |

I believe if you take everything Jesus said as a whole he wouldn't be a "good teacher"... Just like the scripture you pointed out where Jesus says he is the only way to the father. Though I believe if you take Jesus' lessons seperately he is one of the best teachers in history. ------------------ |

Like I said, I believe he is Lord, and you're totally right Matt. I was hoping Cheesestorm, and someone else would show up to prevent Lord > Liar/Lunatic/Teacher. ------------------ |

quote: I respectfully disagree. A good teacher is one who not only shows, but does what he says. Jesus' lessons need to be looked at both seperately and as a whole lesson. In both manners He is an excellent teacher. What about taking everything as a 'whole' would not make him a good teacher? Just wondering. |

He was saying on the lessons, (Sermon on the Mount, ext.) He can be looked at as a good teacher, but if you look at all of the info, (Scrip above) He can't be just a good teacher, he has to be a Liar, a Lunatic, or Lord. ------------------ |
