After watching many news reports and reading articles about the effects of Hurricane Katrina. I have noticed something. This crisis has brought out the good and the evil in human beings. Basically what I've seen is that many people who lived their lives in pride, greed, and other selfish sinful ways have behaved even more evil afterwards. And those who lived their lives in love, joy, and in a giving spirit have given many extraordinary sacrifices to save and help others... some have given their very lives. It seems that whatever is in a person sort of spills out when he\she is shaken. Kind of like a bucket filled to the brim with something... when someone shakes that bucket, whatever is in it spills out. In the midst of this great tragedy, I've heard many noble and self-sacrificing acts of love and courage, men risking their lives for others... people putting themselves in the line of danger to help the others who have nothing. But I have also heard of the horrible things happening... looting, murders, rapings... and God help us... even little babies being raped. Can you imagine what this world will be like in the Tribulation? My brothers and sisters, Jesus said that a day will come when He will separate the sheep from the goats... one of the clear distinctions between the two was this... "I was hungry and you didn't feed me... I was naked and you didn't clothe me... I tell you truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me." The survivors of Katrina need our help, if you haven't donated anything to them, then if you can... please consider doing so... Jesus is hungry and naked.. we should help Him. ------------------ [This message has been edited by brandon (edited September 10, 2005).] |

you guys are going to hate me for this... but look at it this way. what if hurrican katrina wiping out new orleans was like a modern-day Sodom & Gamorrah incident? New Orleans was a crime filled place. voodoo (lol), lawlessnes, Mardi Gras. (good on the surface..but drunkeness, "revelry", mas flashings (haha)). just another perspective to consider. Thats not to say we shoudlnt help, but just take a moment to ponder. ------------------ |

They seem to like to build on "the sand" (danger zone) which christ calls people that do that "foolish". "7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, We did not see people act this bad in Florida or other disasters and the news changes the story and says that the black people did not kill or steal. Then they wonder why it happens and say it is not the black culture when Bill Cosby says that it is and every black attacks him. Like the news said the state was bad and the tragedy only showed it to everyone. The state is very liberal which is why the state and by the people collaped the way it did physicaly and spiritualy. Lies are what happend that made so many die. |

Warsong, I'm not clear on what you are saying. I don't think that the problem with the lawlessness and violence had anything to do with people being black. If that is what you are saying? HisArt, Sometimes God allows bad things to happen, just look at Job for instance, God said, "Satan, have you considered my servant Job?" Why did God choose such a righteous man to let Satan lose on? Why not someone else? That's for God to know. He wants us to trust Him in any situation. It's at times such as this that we must continue to trust in God, even though we don't know why such awful things happen to us. If we truly believe in Him then we should trust Him even when we don't have the answers. ------------------ [This message has been edited by brandon (edited September 22, 2005).] |

quote: But Job brought it on himself... Job 3:25 "For the thing I GREATLY FEARED has come upon me, and what I DREADED has happened to me." Fear of what might happen is trusting in what satan can do to you and not what God has done for you. God had to take down the hedge because Job had sinned and satan had the right to touch him as he had feared. God didn't do it and Job brought it on himself. In the new covenant we have the keys and so our own mouth will tear down the hedge to let satan in. We allow it. God Bless! ------------------ |

As for what you said about Job, I'll read that book some more before I comment on it. But, if that were the case then is it an 8 year olds fault if she is raped? How about those cowards in New Orleans that raped children and babies in the dark confines of the Stadium? Did those children bring that upon themselves too? ------------------ |

That's a hard one. There is a devil out there that wants you in pain and poverty or dead (preferably painfully and poor). All I know is what the Bible says ... God is Good with no shadow of turning evil. satan is evil and 'the thief comes to kill steal and destroy'. To blame God for any evil thing is a sin. Every good and perfect thing is from God. The heart of man is evil and continually so. God gave the keys to this world to His body the church. We have dominion. ------------------ "His talent, Hisart, His way." |
