For a long time I was uncomfortable speaking out to people who were not Christians, about my faith, until this poem was read to me. The poem brought tears to my eyes as people I know, whom I consider my friends, and yet are not Christians came to my mind, and I NEVER wanted them to be able to say this to me. I wanted to share this poem, in hopes that maybe there are others out there, who are where I once was, who will realize how important it is to tell the people you know about the Lord, who will realize they never want their friends to be able to say this to them.

"My Friend"

My friend, I stand in judgment now,
And feel that you're to blame somehow.
On Earth I walked with you day by day,
And never did you point the way.

You knew the Lord in truth and glory,
But never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim;
You could have led my safe to Him.

Though we lived together here on Earth,
You never told me of the second birth.
And now I stand this day condemned,
Because you failed to mention Him.

You taught me many things, that's true;
I called you "friend" and trusted you.
But I learn now that it's too late,
And you could have kept me from this fate.

We walked by day and talked by night,
And yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, and love, and die,
You knew I'd never live on high.

Yes, I called you "friend" in life,
And trusted you through joy and strife.
And, yet, on coming to this dreadful end,
I cannot, now, call you "my friend."

I was at a youth function with my church, one of the guys in the youth group did the devotional that night, and read that poem.

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

How many will stand there, that you didn't tell.
If you can tell them now, do so. If they've moved away. pray for their salvation and that Christian brothers/sisters go and speak to them.
Here on earth the law states that standing and watching a drowning man, and not helping when you can, is manslaugther.
I am not guiltless.
God Bless!

Oh, I've heard that poem before, years ago.
I just can't remember where.
Still like it.
