Hi this is a paradox I've been thinking about. What languages do god speak? I am from nigeria, I am a negro and I speak Nigerian tounge will god understand me? Do I have to speak english? Do I have to teach my wife and my children how to speak english so god can hear them?

If he understands all languages, can I invent a new language and he will understand it? What if I invent a new language called Fittanish that is just like english but I've replaced the phrase "God" with "Hail Satan". How would god know which one we're talking? Doing this I think either we could block satanists from communicating with satan or we would screw ourselves and be talking to satan instead of god!!! I would call this negating a language... giving what you say a whole new meaning to God.

To not be negated by someone else we could make a personal language for ourselves when speaking to god. I could make a tounge - kukish - in which "agagjahglikan dlihnrdinjo togdsar" means "Dear God Amen".(My character 2 on my keyboard got stuck typing that, which filled my screen with two:s... A Miracle ) That way no one could know my language when speaking to god and no one could negate me...

I'm not sure what leads you to that idea, but Jesus did not speak English, so I reckon you're safe there. If you read the story of the Tower of Babel, God created all languages.

Of course. But to be a Christian you need to let *God* give you a new language, which *you* can't understand. The question of language fundamentally is that God gives us a new language, called 'speaking in tongues', which is given because the Bible says we don't know what to pray for. The problem is not what words we use, but our inability to form them.

quote:

Doing this I think either we could block satanists from communicating with satan or we would screw ourselves and be talking to satan instead of god!!

First of all, God is more interested in the intents of our heart than what words we form. He sees the intent and so does not need to judge by the form of our words. Secondly, satanists ? There's a sad bunch of folks if ever I saw one. I reckon they have enough problems.

Isn't it interesting that you've come up with this concept, and God has already thought of it ? :-)

I don't exactly agree with christian's view of tongues, but I do agree that God will understand you no matter what language you use. It's been my view that God is omnicient - all-knowing. He knows what you are thinking long before you say it, and even if you can't find the right words, he will understand.

God created all the languages, He knows them better then you.

Who cares about language?
Why should God not understand Nigerian?
I'd say he's highly fluent in it!

God does not just see the outer shell of us, but knows are deepest self better than we do.

I think it's limiting God's infinite power to say he won't understand this language.

And yes, you can make up your own language and he'll know it better than you.
And no, I don't think you can get satanists to be tricked into worship God or anything. God looks at the heart. He does not care about some mindless ritual, but our heart. He will hear our prayers no matter how they are uttered. In a matter of fact, He knows what we will pray, before we begin to pray it! (He is not subject to Time; Time is his creation!) There is no way that God can be fooled. Never underestimate God. But sadly, that is something we all do. We just can't grasp Him! Our minds are just to small.

He is Omniscient(knows all), Omnipresent(is everywhere), and Omnipotent(is all powerful). He's God! What more can I say!

I'm tired. Signing off.
