You may or may not be aware that Krylar's father recently died. On behalf of everybody here, I sent Krylar an E-Card that was signed "From the Gang at CCN". You received this email in response to that card:

Krylar, I pray that you and your family will be blessed with comfort and peace and ministered to by God during this time. I pray that your faith in God hasn't waivered but has grown stronger with an understanding of God's work in your life and the life of your family. May the love and peace of our Father God shine on you and your's at this time and always. God Bless, [This message has been edited by Nfektious (edited November 26, 2002).] |

Thanks for the kind words! We laid my father to rest yesterday morning. Was a beautiful service and the weather was nice. Not an easy thing to do by any stretch of the imagination, but the good Lord has been a comfort to me the entire time. God bless you all -Krylar ------------------ |

I will pray for you as well Krylar. Can't help but remember a song from a while back "Friends are friends forever, if the Lord's the Lord of them..." Sometimes a hard consolation for the living, but this remains my confidence. ------------------ Faith without works is like a song you can't sing, it's about as useless as a screendoor on a submarine... |

The song is by Randy something-or-other. Newman ? He's a big shot in the Christian industry anyhow. My condolences, Krylar. |

Several artists recorded it, it seemed to repetitively come out on top of Christian charts for a while, so I don't remember who originated it. My knowledge of Christian music tends to be stuff from 70's to 80's through mid-90's, and mostly I just remember the lyrics ------------------ Faith without works is like a song you can't sing, it's about as useless as a screendoor on a submarine... |

Yes, Randy certainly wrote it. He was a friend of Larry Norman I recall. I was into that stuff prior to my salvation, in the late 80's. Gosh it was awful music. the only good bands I found were Larry Norman, some of Randy's stuff, Messiah Prophet and Rez. Back then, anyone who could hold a guitar and had big hair got a recording contract. Stryper were awful, but at least they started the bandwagon instead of jumping on it. |

Which only goes to show there is no point in arguing about taste :0) They must have done something right, they actually had *secular* success. |

I wonder if we're thinking of the same song. Because it was definitely Michael W. Smith. Actually his wife wrote the lyrics and he wrote the music. Here's a little more of the song: "And friends are friends forever, if the Lord's the Lord of them. And a friend cannot say never, 'cause the welcome will not end. Though it's hard to let you go, in the Father's hands we know, that a lifetime's not too long, to live as friends" ------------------ |

BlazeQ, maybe they are thinking of another song. I remember Michael W. Smith singing it, so that would make sense. The lyrics you posted seem slightly different from my memory (told you that's most of what I remember posted lyrics: my memory's lyrics: It's been quite a while since I've heard it, maybe these variations were mixed in the song... ------------------ Faith without works is like a song you can't sing, it's about as useless as a screendoor on a submarine... |

I actually remember it as a mix of the two I grabbed the lyrics off a fan site (the official website didn't have any and I didn't have the CD lyin' around...). Wasn't sure they were 100% correct, but they were close enough. ------------------ |

Those are indeed the lyrics of the Randy song. I just cannot remember his surname, I keep thinking Newman ( secular singer, yes ? ) and Castillo ( recently dead heavy metal drummer ). He's on JesusTV ads again I see, so he's still going. |

quote: Randy Newman is the no talent bum who wrote and sang "Short People" in the 70s and has scored numerous films. Although his songwriting is good, he can't sing at all. Randy Castillo is the dead drummer, formerly of Ozzy fame and replaced Tommy Lee and toured with Motley Crue before he died. ------------------ Brice Lost Reflections -- When your life comes crumbling down around you, can you count on the one person who has never been there for you?
