losing of salvation – klumsy

Klumsy Administrator Posts: 1061 From: Port Angeles, WA, USA Registered: 10-25-2001	in your doctrine set, do you believe that one can lose salvation.. i.e if i left church and started sacrificing babies to the devil, and killing and raping people and all sorts of evil? if somebody loses their salvation, what happens to the tounges? The Bible says 'If we are faithless, He is faithful, He cannot deny Himself'. ( paraphrase, sorry ). When we become a Christian, we become part of the body of Christ. If we walk away from that, we become like a 'dog returning to it's vomit', and 'the latter state is worse than the former'. However, while we can lose salvation, we continue to have the Holy Spirit, and the ability to speak in tongues. Making the Spirit live in the life of a person not following God ( if they sacrifice babies to the devil or not ) is the reason the only unforgivable sin is called 'blasphemy of the Holy Spirit'. So you can lose salvation, but God does not take back the Spirit, or the ability to speak in tongues.
Klumsy Administrator Posts: 1061 From: Port Angeles, WA, USA Registered: 10-25-2001	fair enough, just wanted to know your stance.. and sorry i forgot to put in your name.. as for me the above is my experience.. when I was about 15 I went through some rebellious stages.. i saw my stepfather (whom i have been able to forgive because Christ has enabled me to) who beat me and my mother often, but who had great charisma and spoke and preached in churches (power hungry purposes) - I believe God has had a good calling on him, however he has refused to humble himself before God and let God deal with the issues in his heart.. anyhow... i couldn't live with the fact that this guy was accepted by many churches but i really knew who he was (since then he has fallen out with one pastor after another - the fruits of his seeds have borne their disastorous fruit- But God still loves him and has plans and purposes for him) anyway back to me.. I had questions like "how come ? why can he preach like that? and then give me a horrible look that cuts through me, then beat me later, ( and the words were much worse than the beatings), also i had questions like 'what happens to babies etc'.. and i started believing in reincarnation (though i knew it was wrong all along), and some dangerous beliefs (which in my heart i knew were wrong)... I had nobody who really loved me apart from God, i got involved in a sinful sexual relationship when i was 16 with a girl who was 21, this went on for 3 months.. however God did not take his Spirit from me.. i'd wake up speaking in tounges in desperation... the only time that i ever managed to get drunk, i started preaching to myself and my girlfriend about how wrong my life was and i needed to get back right with God.. from then i went back to God and humbled myself before the Lord, and repented and accepted his beautiful forgiveness and restoration.. if i had died whilst in that relationship i honestly don't know if i would have been saved or not... i've heard the whole armenian verses calvin doctrine and all.. i just know that God has his hand on my life, and he has much patience, and has been faithful when i have been unfaithful.. This is serious stuff - the Bible says that sexual sin is worse than other sin as it occurs in the body. He is certainly faithful when we are not.

Our Pastor is quite brutal sometimes (in the good sense).. he won't be afraid to bring up the word pronography or anything in a meeting.. at that time 3 months, i was going to a church however.. and yes i knew it was wrong.. but as people do they rationalize it, its tragic.. but alas God has restored what the locusts have eaten, and many years on since then , i am married to my wife, who is amazing, it was very sad for me however to not be able to give myself to her as a virgin.. My experience is that most preach it to some degree, the trouble they have is being not willing to deal with it when it happens. This, of course, a generalisation based on my limited experience.

It makes me laugh that churches rightly condemn homosexuality in the church and turn a blind eye to fornication, which is really just as much and for the same reasons 'not to be named among you'.
