Hiya,

I just put up an article on scriptures to have in mind when faced with different types of temptations. Are there any that you use on a consistent basis that you'd like to share?

Thanks!

Krylar,
Here are a couple of mine.

For trials that come up or I start to get a "Job complex", James 1 rings true:

JAMES 1:2-8 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. [NIV]

Or if I start to forget how much God loves me and how much He is in control, Romans chapter 8:

ROMANS 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lastly, if I'm tempted by a certain sin or getting depressed over it, 1 John chapter 1:

1 JOHN 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Those are some of mine. Not sure how closely they match what you were after though.

Hiya!

Those are great There's really no criteria on what I'm looking for, just curious what scriptures folks use when combatting temptation. I'm sure there are many.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing that Krylar.

Isn't it funny that we know what we should do, but don't find time to do it? I know I should memorize scripture, but I rarely do. Thanks for reminding me that it should be a high priority in my life.

This is from a song I listen to:

Holy Spirit set me free,
From my pain and misery,
Holy Spirit send your fire,
And set my spirit free.

Other than that, just flipping open the Bible I pretty much land on something that helps me, it's cool.

God is groovy
