I've been thinking of picking up some Bible software, but I don't really know what's good. I like the NIV version of the Bible and I'd love to be able to keep notes on the computer for each verse, if possible.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Compton puts out a GREAT package for the NIV. It's basically the NIV study Bible, all hyperlinked. It also includes multimedia (tons of pics, sounds, videos), commentaries, etc. Here's Zondervan's page, but you'll find it much cheaper elsewhere. (Try here for starters).

God bless,
Brian

Heya,

Just a follow-up...I came ' ' close to buying the Zondervan software when another caught my eye. It's the QuickVerse software by Parsons. Man, this software is really amazing.

Using this, I've got access to archeological pictures, timelines, maps, different translations, Strongs exhaustive concordance, commentaries, Nave Bible topics, etc. all on the same screen and all in sync, AND I can take notes on each verse in each of those sections. I have not been this impressed with a software package in a long time...it's really sweet!

I'll likely also get the Zondervan cause I can't help but check things like this out

Zondervan's is only NIV. Since you mentioned NIV, it's the first that came to mind. QuickVerse is also great, but can get pricey if you want a good collection of versions.

Another option you have is with the Online Bible (www.onlinebible.org). It's freeware (except for copyrighted versions like the NIV), so the price is right. It's not as functional (ie. no multimedia, maps, etc.) and a bit of a chore to set up and use, but is still quite popular as it has the widest range of versions you can download for it.

I actually had the Online Bible for my Mac. It *is* a great tool and the price *is* right

Yes, I did want NIV...apparently, though, I can get NIV with QuickVerse through an order. Also, no argument about the price...Zondervan's was only $29 at Best Buy and I paid $49 for QV (it can go as high as $150 from what I've seen).

I'm going to snag Zondervan's in a couple of weeks to check it out. What can I say? I'm a software junkie

Thanks!

hey dude, i too have a suggestion, the PC study bible version 3.1, it has multiple versions, a topical search, word studies, all of the good stuff, and i'm pretty sure that they also have it at Zondervan, 'cus we carry it at our store.

Does it include NIV, per chance? That happens to be my favorite translation is why I ask

i do believe that it has many versions, and that the NIV is one of them, as well as the New Living translation, the King James and the New King James versions.
