Here's an animation I did last night. It took a few hours to get through the learning curve. The next thing I'll do is try to make the mouth open and close more distinctly. |

That was quite funny. I mean the guy was bit depressed but you did well there. (jk) ------------------ [VoHW] (Help needed) [Blog] (Contact) - Truedisciple (mp3) |

Thanks. Here's the next step. I switched to a realistic-looking model, because there are more functions for the mouth, and also I want the end result to look like a cut-scene. |

"Your husband is a computer?" ha ha ha! That was awesome. The 2nd one was really good too, not quite what I expected after "Mr. Smiley" but the lip sync was very good. Keep up the great work!!!! [This message has been edited by mastallama (edited November 13, 2007).] |

Here's the same animation with eye squints and eyebrow raises. Some of the movements are too miniscule to show up on Youtube. Hair and lighting. |

perhaps a little movement around the cheeks would add some life to him. Probably ALOT better than I could do. ------------------ |

Yes, More facial motion would help. The final shot will be a long shot, so most of the facial expressions will be lost. (called a throw-away) But when it counts, it will make the whole animation better. I'm doing this step-by-step to show that others can do the same. I started with a video of me saying the line, and then went through the video frame-by-frame and the posing program (DAZ Studio) frame-by-frame and matched up the mouths, having no idea if it would work. I'm sure that anybody could do it, given enough time. (Who would want to spend time on it is another question, though). |

This next animation looks like a hippy jogger. The end result will be in a fantasy setting -- a man in a cave sittting on a barrel talking to someone else. The man will stand as he talks and walk away from the person he is talking to, toward the cave mouth, and toward the camera. So this animation is just a test to see if an animation put over the facial animation will erase it. It doesn't! The facial animation uses "morph targets" pre-placed on the head. The jogging animation is applied to the "rigging." I think of "morph targets" as muscles in the face, and "rigging" as bones. So, there are two separate groups -- muscles and bones -- which are each independantly animatable. Probably in higher-end posing programs, every single animatable thing is independant. With this much motion, the eyes are weird because they don't close. But I won't animate the eyes until last because they are probably most important. |

Here's another something, just messing around. This was made in about an hour with free software and free speedbike model. I'll probably use it for my neighbor--he wants to learn to develop, and loves RTS sci-fi. |
