For anyone who uses GiMP, version 2.4 is finally released. Check it out with a newly updated website: http://www.gimp.org/ |

Thanks for the heads up. It has a foreground selection tool! Cool, coulda used that on BibleDavidLancaster. I'm downloading it (as soon as my wife is done playing Rayman.) |

Yes! That is one of the big things added. I have been using the 2.3.x versions which led up to the official 2.4 release. The feature has been available for awhile, but I have not done much with it. When I used it, the feature was in beta and didn't quite always work right. Another big addition is the ability to use color management. Both of those bring the application closer to the major/important capabililties of Photoshop. [This message has been edited by ssquared (edited October 29, 2007).] |

I had the release candidate but haven't had much time to play with it. The new scaleable brush feature is cool. ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. "We've assimilated Pooh." Any fool can know, the point is to understand. -- Albert Einstein |

I was trying to figure out how to get Photoshop filters included. They used to require pspi.exe but I can't figure it out now. I would have thought they would no longer require a 3rd party EXE and would have just included what you need by default. Unfortunately, I can't find information about using the filters in this version. I want to know if they have better compatibility. My favorite filters I can only use from IrfanView. I'd really like to do as much as possible from within the GiMP. |
