That's right

http://www.download.com/DAZ%20Productions/3260-20_4-6286136.html
Make sure you go to the DAZ site www.daz3d.com and get the DAZ|Studio 1.0 once you have all that installed (free), it integrates very well into 5.5 and makes it much easier to build scenes. http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/studio/-/?

I'm not sure if this is a permanent offer, but it is probably good for at least a week since this replaces the usual weekly free item, but may be permanent. If anyone wants a little help getting started just let me know here, I know of some tutorials that are pretty good if you are really interested in this. I'm not a guru with the program [yet] but I've been using it a lot for a long time and cam probably answer most basic questions.

That's a amazing offer. I'm taking advantage of it right now.
Thanks for the heads-up 8-)

Oh and here is a link to the manual for the 5.5 -PDF file. Right-click and save may be the best approach. It's very long.

Oh yeaaah tell me about it I hate the fact that I haven’t launched the websites yet but I promised myself to not do so until I was within 90 days of being ready to launch the first game for beta testing. I really wanted to be three months into beta testing at this point already but just so many delays that are essentially out of my control, but will eventually be cleared up. It’s torture!

I’ve found Bryce useful for it at least, I’ve made a lot of my web graphics with it, you know like banners, box art and stuff… not that there will be a real box since it will be a free digital download but it looks good for the website at least. I’ve been trying to come up with layout ideas for the intro movies like for the company logo video and such that will play when the game starts, this I‘ll probably do with Bryce; probably better suited for it than Poser.

But yeah, I’m still pretty tight lipped about it beyond that for the moment, I’d hate to throw specifics out there, beyond concepts, and then wind up redefining some of those specifics. The problem with mmogs is things tend to change, but I’m trying to target some consistency as opposed to making dramatic changes as has been the downfall of some games (e.g. SWG).

I’m also very set on doing it the way I want to do it without outside influence, I mean like I told a bit (not too much) about how it’s unfolding to a buddy I’ve known for a few years, about my main project, and he came back dead set on making changes that were outside of what I am trying to achieve. Much of that I think had to do with denominational differences, though I’m definitely trying to achieve a level of commonality so that Christians of most any denomination will find it acceptable. But of course some aspects will lean towards one direction to achieve a level of cohesiveness to the base story which in turn drives all the sub-plots and quests; to make them possible, but overall the time setting is “end-times” yet before certain events that Christians tend to disagree upon.

The focus is really on mastering bible understanding rather than trying to subject the player to any specific beliefs in eschatology… well maybe beyond the objection that may arise from preterits? but you can’t please everyone all the time and I don’t think it will click for non-Christians but that always seems to be a given when it comes to Christian oriented games, so trying to seems futile in such a matter. That’s never been my specialty though, I’ve practiced evangelism (street witnessing etc..) but I tend to spend my efforts trying to build up the Saints to be grounded in the faith so that they may endure with sound biblical doctrine.

But, this first release will be more orientated to those that hold any belief, still a Christian world view as opposed to some outlandish setting where YHWH has no place (e.g. EQ, WoW, SWG etc…), but overall the story is more so player driven on a specialized role-playing level. More so geared toward evangelistic opportunities to reach-out to non-Christians on the community level rather than something that is a mechanical feature of the game. Ehh… but that 90 day window seems still out of view at this point *hunts for a bottle of Windex* and the main project will follow with a release a year or so after that.

Hey, so do you have any logs of your progress, llama? You know like a blog page or something giving some notice of your efforts? I can’t say I know much of your game concept at this point, but I’m looking forward to what info you release about it as you work on it.

Hey Faith does Bryce let you create texturemaps and heighmaps and save them in a wide spread image file format?

Well, as for widespread usage, the exported image maps can always be reformatted with any specifications you may want to choose. Then you would simply hex edit the exported model mesh file and change any image extensions as needed or reapply the textures with a modelling application. So if you were to make a .dds format which Bryce does not support on export, one could easily convert the exported texture maps and reapply them to the mesh or simply hex edit the new textures into the mesh file.

Yes it does export the texture maps along with the terrain mesh (file > Export Object), but only with terrains and not other objects. This will not export the height map, however, you can open the Edit Object dialog on the terrain, over on the bottom-right (by default) is the Editing Tools window which has a “Pictures” tab. Where it shows the image of the height map you click on “Copy” below that image which will allow you to paste the image map as an new image in your regular graphics editing application. Now you would simply export the whole terrain as .3ds or something so it can generate all the other maps.

Also note, to change the resolution for the copy of the height map, you must set the resolution accordingly. You can copy a height map resolution up to 4096x4096 if you set it that high. The resolution choices are found by clicking the grid icon in the map tools on the left side (red circle in below image) of the screen. You must set the resolution before you generate the map or it will not resize to the new resolution. So basically you would 1. Set your map resolution 2. Generate your height map 3. Click on the check icon to apply the changes to the terrain (will close the edit dialog) 4. Open the edit screen again 5. Open the pictures tab, copy the height map and paste it in your graphics editor. Other than that, you can also import existing height maps and use those.

Hey yeah don’t forget, if you register the free 5.5 version you get a coupon for a free masters series model set. The code should be in your profile once you register 5.5. When you go to the checkout simply select paypal and then enter the coupon code, it will skip the paypal system since it’s free. Dial-up beware, give yourself time to download the files, they are very large and you only have about a week to get them all.

Did you install it? I should give you the URL to register at the end of the install. The end of the url will be something like "/breg55?". If you are missing a confirmation email, try checking your spam/bulk box if you have filtering, that has happened to me a few times with confirmation emails.

Oh, also that masters series code is only good for two weeks, which means only good for a few more days at this point.
