Sure, probably one of the better modelling apps to make low poly organics with, which is freaking hard compared to high poly organics imo so best to learn building houses, chairs and other such things first in case you haven’t started. Either tS or gS should do a good job at handling organic modelling/sculpting. If you are going to animate in tS you may want to look at the game modelling add-on, I think it’s like $100 but have seen it go on sale for less. Depends on the animation format you are targeting though.

You can try crippled demos of trueSpace and gameSpace of course, gS light will let you export but has a limit on polygons and uv map size. Also there is a free version of tS 3.2 which is great if you are just making the mesh and exporting it to something else to finish it. Only real downside is that there are not many books on tS and the few that exist are for 3.2 but there are tutorials floating around the net. 3.2 doesn‘t support bone or target morphing animations but later versions do.

Here are some links:

Has a very good gS video tutorial on making an organic (an elf). Account is free and they don’t spam your email or anything. It’s a gS tutorial but gS is simply a version of tS 6.x so really works with any tS version.

Oh yeah, and a tip: get the demo or free version first and register your e-mail with them, they send deals sometimes up to 50% or more off on some of their modelling apps and other things. You won't see the specials mentioned at the website.

Thanks for all the good advice.. Ive modeled before but about 7 years ago, so yeah I'm gonna start small and easy till I get going. I'm pritty proud of truespace, crashes alot but the Polygon Modeler is pritty sweet. And yes I own Truespace 6.6

Does it crash? I haven’t had that problem with tS, but it has happened a lot with gS but not so much now. Heh and go figure, here I am working a model right now but with Wings3D though I have better modelling apps. Just about to put some wings together, just finished the legs 5 minutes ago… hopefully tomorrow I’ll get the animations in but easy animations for this one with a fly and single air attack. OK wasp I guess though.

Truespace 3.2 is my weapon of choice. It's good, but it requires some work arounds for some game engine. It's decent for basic geometry and is very comfotable to work with (at least for me) I probably need to expand something more powerful soon though.
